Hidden waypoint

So there's this island in Natlan with a whole bunch of Varesa mats. I walked all the way there with Furina and even made a portable waypoint so I could come back to farm Varesa's flowers. But now I see there's a waypoint that was never marked on the map.

Why? Is this a recurring thing and if yes, how many other hidden waypoints are there?

There's a lot of hidden waypoints, especially quest related ones. They're usually hidden so they don't spoil quest locations, but idk why this one was hidden, it's not part of anything besides the quest

This one isn't hidden at all, you probably zoomed in/out too much and it disappeared as a result, or it is a glitch specific to you.

I know that it wasn't there before. My character is right next to it on the first screenshot and it appeared when I unlocked it.

I think it's fair to assume every somewhat big island without a waypoint has a hidden waypoint if that's how it is.

It's a quest area I guess. The one where you have to defeat the dragon thing near collective of plenty and it takes you there.

You can check achievements to see the ones you've missed. These were a thing since inazuma as far as i remember
