Fate Points really should carry over
I love the fate point system and its been a massive change than how it was before, but Genshin's weapon banner is still the absolute worst out of the other games where they separate. What's still wild is that its only worth pulling on the weapon banner if it features two characters that you don't mind getting weapons for. Or if its a new character with a rerun character that you don't have the weapon for. When you only want one (either you have the other character's weapon) fate points carrying over would make the weapon banner alot less terrible. I think its certainly overdue. Them lowering the count to 1 was already a great change so I think that would make a 2 in 1 banner so much more bearable. Or they could just give us seperate weapon banners.
Heres hoping 7.0 does this, we all know the reason why they wouldn't, but hey we can dream right?

(I still play Genshin tho)
If OP won then we wouldn't be seeing a post on reddit.
Case and point. If you dont have the ability to hit hard pity on the weapon banner and you aren't willing to take the L then dont pull.
Ive lost more than 80% of my 50/50s ever since sumeru and you don't see me complaining? Should i also make a post for hoyo to remove 50/50s on character banners?
I just find it ironic that this system has been in the game for centuries and only now does OP suddenly find the will to rant on reddit about it.
Basically screams, it's not my problem until it is.
Also, im just telling OP advice, if you don't have the heart to take an L, then dont gamble.
So they should just split the weapon banner into two; you only have to wish for the one limited weapon you want, but you might sometimes lose the 75-25.
I think the real issue you get it is they have made some really bad 5 star signature weapons (lookin at you donut) so it makes losing to those much worse than getting a standard 5 star sometimes.
But you're right about the bad 5\* sigs, which is why, if I can't use BOTH of the weapons on the banner I just don't wish on it. The only times I've gone in for a sig. weapon is if I also want or could use the other one (which is how my Nahida's weapons is R2).
Tbh that's the reason i still never pulled on any weapon banner until now. But Skirk weapon man... It's perfect for her both visually and mechanically :'(
Like my Skirk who is wielding Calamity if Eshu (which I don't regret in terms of damage but still...)
Most people act like getting stuff in gacha is like actually gaining something in real life, but at the end of the day it's a video game, and the game developers balance both the stuff you get and the content, and presumably both at the same time against each other. So you don't actually get much of anything when they shift one and shift the other to match. And if they only shift one without the other, that's the same as just changing the difficulty of the game to be easier or harder, which is also something very different than when you actually gain possession of something in real life.
A banner for each weapon, sharing overall pity, kinda like how the featured and rerunning 5*s have.
HSR doesn't even shy away from having 75-25% odds, too. Genshin has that, but a second 50/50 afterwards, which really sucks
doing so would just mean more mechanics that were supposed to be on the character's kit will be moved to their sig weapon instead
In genshin I only have the signature of 4 characters and ive been playing since 1.0 ive also lost every 50/50 on weapon banners (37.5/37.5/25 or whatever) as well as losing every possible "/25" loss as well when its not "guaranteed" to be one of the 2 on banners.
Its so fucking convoluted I cant even state the situation in simple terms without a dicertation.
You can also easily solve it yourself by saving enough to guarantee.
Litleraly every other hoyo game is powercreep garbage
Yeah, that's with a whole lot of caveats. WuWa 4* weapons are hot garbage. This means that the power locked behind their BiS weapons trump any f2p option any day of the week. For you to reach the same level of viability as a c0r0 character in genshin conpared to Wuwa, you would need RC0R1. The easier you make something achievable, the more likely the goalpost of end game content will shift to accomodate that fact.
Why is that bad? That's because theoretically, that doubles the amount you need to spend to achieve meta viability. It's already pretty bad since newer weapons are extremely niche when compared to older ones. Now you want Genshin to basically make it so that to clear end game modes, you would need to pull for said niche weapon?
That's a step in the wrong direction.
You're basically just throwing a tantrum cuz you lost your 50/50 and you didnt account for losing it. Grow up.
The fact that you're saying ,"in line with other games" yet are clueless about balance makes you look superficial as you think other games are more "generous". Ah yeah, lemme go hop back on to my old gacha games where i would need 6 dupes of a character thats 10 pixels tall to make them viable.
Yes, HSR and ZZZ has more powercreep than Genshin and they do have stuff like split banners, there's no denying that, but blaming that on stuff like split weapon banners is just ridiculous. Correlation does not mean causation. If Genshin decides to give around a 100 pulls per patch and splits weapon banners, that does not necessarily mean Genshin will immediately turn into "PoWeRcReEp GaRbAgE" like HSR and ZZZ. Its a matter of proper game management.
You do know that splitting the banners would still make it cost the same amount of pulls to C0R1 a character assuming hard pity right? All it does it just let you salvage a failed weapon banner for another future weapon you want. Compared to other desired gacha QOL we've been demanding this is fairly reasonable and overdue relative to other Hoyo games.
YOU made the claim that split banners will ruin the game, how? The burden of proof is on you to prove that split banners causes powercreep. Genshin has already implemented stuff like capturing radiance and has lowered fate point count over time yet I fail to see Genshin approaching as worse as a metagame as HSR/ZZZ, how will split banners be the final nail in the coffin?
And said "different approach" includes genshin weapon banner being ass
>Even if powercreep didn't exist, weapons are still mandatory in hsr.
Let’s assume that scenario, I ask you, so what? The Catch still works as written for Raiden, Finale for Clorinde, White Tassel for Arle, those F2P options still exist, they don’t magically disappear from our accounts. Besides, skill in playing a character goes a long way in Genshin than in HSR, there’s simply more skill expression/ceiling allowed in Genshin than HSR that contributes to clearing stuff like endgame. Just because it went down like that in HSR does not mean it will happen like that in Genshin even with powercreep. HSR forcing S1 doesn’t mean split banner systems force that outcome. Unless you can explain how split weapon banner design FORCES mandatory R1/S1, I’d argue that this is mainly correlation. As I’ve stated in my original comment, it all comes down to design choices by the development team.
They can go and look at hsr to see what happens when weapons are more accessible
I mean I genuinely wish the weapon banners are separate and all the soft petites are much lower and we’d never lose to 50/50s, but that’s like complaining about coke being too expensive? I can only make sure I don’t get myself into a situation where I’m out of wishes at 1 fate point, or waste wishes I need on weapons I don’t want at all.
I guess if enough people dislike this fate point system so much that they don’t want to play anymore, HoYo might change it, but there’s nothing intrinsically bad about it? It’s subjective.
No, it's never worth. And it would never be worth even if the weapon was guaranteed like in WuWa. How many more primogems will you get thanks to a new weapon? Like 100 per month? And how many will you spend trying to get that weapon? If the weapon was guaranteed, that would be around 10000. So you would get your investment back after 100 months, or a bit above 8 years.
The weapon banner is designed to suck money out of the whales, because it has no value outside of that.
the design of the sig weapons are also including some quite important mechanics, for instance Hyacine LC having HP fluctuation, Phainon LC base speed, ZZZ with anomaly buildup rate etc.
That said, unlike many gacha games, the signature weapons aren't must-have. Your 5-star character will do just fine with a 4-star weapon. A character's signature weapon really is a luxury - not the other half of the character, without which the character is incomplete (and often quite crappy). Better than a game where if you don't have enough to pull for both character and weapon, you might as well not pull at all.
The weapon banner has been made friendlier TWICE, the first time by adding the Fate Point system (prior, you could go endlessly without getting the weapon you wanted), and later by reducing the number of Fate Points needed from two to one. It's now to the point that if a f2p wants a weapon, they can get one without much trouble, so long as they have a little self-discipline and are able to save their wishes.
