The big frustrating question is why Neuvillette of all characters? He’s not even from Liyue. Personally I like him but honestly I’d rather see him in an alternate Fontaine skin before getting an outfit from an entirely different nation.

I honestly don’t understand, the first Lantern Rite was dedicated to Xiao and he’s historically extremely popular (less so now but still well liked) so it just makes sense for him to get a skin
Neuvillette is so random, like you said, he’s not even from Liyue. We still have Zhongli, Qiqi, Baizhu and Xianyun too. I know Hoyo doesn’t need to release skins only for Liyue 5*s but damn, they could’ve at least done Xiao before branching out
I’ll cope and say maybe the designers cooked too hard and can’t think of a design equal to or better than Xiao’s current one. Or they can’t think of a story reason why Xiao would change his clothes

What Neuvillette is wearing looks more like what every other well to do men across the globe were wearing in the 1900s though and there doesnt seem to be anything on it thats specifically Liyue or Chinese themed other than the 2 not very obvious tassels at the back. Plus if it were a Liyue themed outfit I think the dev would have Liyue in the background in his splash art but his splash art is showing Fontaine instead.
Ngl, I personally do find the top half of Zhongli's outfit too "non-fantasy universal" (ie. like how T-shirts are universal aka not much ties to any specific cultures). The saving grace for Zhongli's outfit imo is in the bottom half. The long coat flaps with the dragon scale patterns ending with the tassels gives a look that sort of call back to fantasy Chinese outfits. But yeah, this is also pure opinion on my side 😂

Am I the only one disappointed in Neuvilettes skin ?? Yaoyao looks perfect and fitting...but Neuvilette, wished they woudl have spared his skin for a different situation/time to go with a differentg style direction for his skin, one that shows more his dragon nature and not one, that looks liek hes just on vacation in an other nation that has just at the time a festival, where hes there for vacation literally for sightseeing and culture exchange.
They shoudl have used this patch rather for a new Xiao Skin, or a new Qiqi Skin together with giving her finally her first Story Quest that sheds some light onto her past together with like Baizhus second story quest intertwined or so.. heck even finally a Zhongli Skin now would have made more sense, than him.. Xiao would have made imo the most sense, we also still know after 5 years barely anything about him and his past with his dead siblings, which seriously coudl need some more screentime :D Bonanus :(
Hopefully next year we get to see then finally Madame Ping, how long MHY is now artificially postponing her release with always new 5S Liyue Characters we literally never heard and anything about, while Madame Ping was there since day 1 is literally ridiculous, especialyl when basicalyl her playable model already exists and was even teased before in a cutscene. I swear.. at this rate we get to see a playable out of nowhere Mooncarver likely first, before we get finally our playable Ping xDD just to be able to postpone her for another year for another Lantern Rite as most likely moment for her to ever get implemented, like they chose that moment also for the implementation now for Zibai and for Xianyun before and before of that for Shenhe and Baizhu
