Why is there backlash for Miliastra Wonderland?
I made my long needed return to Genshin Impact after three years, and there's a lot of content I need to catch up on. One new gameplay that was added was Miliastra Wonderland, which is basically an alternate type of universe where you can play as your own character through a myriad of games and worlds that other people create. It kind of reminds me of something back from 2021-22 that allowed players to do something similar before, but now they took that and made it into a separate permanent gameplay. I just watched the stream for Version 6.3 and there's walere so many negative comments about it? What are everyone's opinions on the gameplay Miliastra Wonderland?
**edit**: it was Windblume Festival from 2022 (I think that's the year). You could play TCG, hide and seek, aim and shoot games, and create maps. So they basically took most of Windblume stuff and put it into a PTW gameplay 😭

"I don't like this piece of content, **So no one else should be allowed to enjoy it**
Aka, Entitled babies.
Godforbid a game tries to expand its scope beyond the same scoop to appeal to other players.
Besides, it's pointless other than having "fun" while playing silly half baked games. There are far better games if you want that.
If you like MW, play it. If not, just ignore it.
Edit for clarification: The gameplay itself is fine. It's awesome that there's a way for players to express themselves and make their own content for others to enjoy.
The problem is the blatant bullshit regarding the monetisation. It could be handled so so so so so much better, especially as it's the gamemode children are more likely to be invested in. It's predatory, simple as.
It's only because people spoke up that people even have the 10 pull worth of currency you mentioned in the first place
For example there exist tons of good idle games or roguelikes on the market. Why would I want to play a barebones player-made imitation of one within Genshin Impact? That just makes no sense to me, are people really that lazy to go "I could play a good game but I don't want to shut down GI so I guess I just settle for whatever this is"?
The manekins are useless for any real content and their outfits are often immersion-breaking, so I wouldn't want to use them in a team anyway. So you're using them only in this Roblox copy that is held together by duct tape and wishful thinking. This proves there really is an audience for just about anything.
I can go and buy Hu Tao's outfit without a gacha and that's good. But me being able to buy the idol outfit for my character is bad ?
2. Crybabies not comprehending not everything has to cater to them
1 of them is understandable
my complaint that killed any interest i had in it is you cant choose weapon type for your manekin, they're sword only, not gonna bother with it unless that changes
Asian fans, like the CN bros, create some of the most incredible things for the sake of it. Because they actually just play for fun.
But the Western fandom play for rewards. When there is none, they won’t play it and may hate it.
Basically, people hate it because there’s nothing to achieve even if you invest in it. It’s purely for fun.
It even applies to the tcg mode and teapot. Though, they do still have some rewards so the hate is slightly less.
1. It taking up room on my limited storage
2. It taking up space in the UI
3. It taking outfit ideas the traveler should always have had
4. It taking primo codes and dev time on new explorable areas.
Like, no one hates TCG and it also gives no rewards. But it's unobtrusive and doesn't take from the real game.
Either way, narrative is just an idea that goes around. No matter if it is true or false, the narrative put the mode in a bad light before it was apparently proven (if it even is).
Paid constellations exist since 1.0, literally p2w, yet it never got that much backlash. I find it hilarious. Of all the things people could've been mad about, they chose paid skins that have 0 effect on gameplay. Lol. Lmao even.
IMO there are two main problems:
1 - I wish I could uninstall only MW to not burden my HD
2 - I think they could use the resources creating that numeruos pretty looking costumes into characters skins, or even improve NPCs old models. (I could guess they ARE improving little by little, see Minnie, the NPC on this last event)
- being locked behind very predatory monetization. It's needlessly convoluted imo, and gender-locked in weird ways.
- if ur not a fan of community-made games there's not much to do after getting an outfit. I personally really loved the ducky raincoat and I was prepared to shell out some money for both male and female versions, but then I wondered what will I even do after getting them. I tried a few games but overall I got bored quick.
They kind of put customisation in Genshin but tied it too tightly with MW imo. That's probably why many people hate it. Also because over the last patch we've had many MW promotional events which further made players feel that MW was siphoning devs away from the content they like. There's a lack of exploration recently and players blame MW for being a cheap replacement.
Custom characters are such an highly anticipated feature. So if they’d given us weapon customization and a bunch of free outfits at launch, they probably would have raked in money easily with the banners moving forward.
I think as it stands right now, having multiple of the same hair styles in different colors, instead of 1 hairstyles with swappable color swatches, also didn’t go over well
- it takes up space even if you don’t want to take part in it. Remember that they removed a lot of important stories from past events, yet they keep space for a whole new game mode that gets constantly updated.
- the tasks they give you are way too demanding for players who are not too invested in Miliastra, which will be the vast majority of players because Genshin is a 5+ year old game and Miliastra is 2 months old. Why does a permanent event have a time limit to complete it before it becomes inaccessible? Why do they expect a new Miliastra account to be able to get Rising Star in 2 separate games in less than 28 days? 15 games a week for BP exp is also way too much unless you play the 1 click stages which are unfun and makes the entire thing a chore.
- long time players who have invested years into Genshin may feel like their investment is being used to fund something they didn’t ask for, this is especially worse with Nod Krai being the obvious filler region to pad the game’s lifespan. Long time Genshin players will also tend to be older since it is a fairly old game, Miliastra to them is like selling Roblox to a 30 year old.
They complain about it, because its trash, boring, broken, distracts resources from the main game and is by factor 10 more predatory than the main game. And that was just the begin, the real scam comes, when they apply the Roblox predatory model to it (Let players add shop items that you can buy in their games, completely ripping off any kid thats too dumb to use its brain, same as Roblox and Infinity Nikki does).
