Basically Castorice, being launched at HSR's anniversary, has what we called a global passive
As long you have her, even though she is not on your team, your characters will be revived one time per battle should they die
Sounds good on paper but people accuse Hoyoverse of using her to test out global passive as a way to powercreep and/or being greedy blah blah blah (not that they are wrong per se but the discourse got a little overheated back then)

And the revive worked for endgame stuff like MoC? Damn, sounds a bit busted.
From what I saw from the stream for Columbina, the revive only works in Nod-Krai in the open world.

I am not sure about endgame modes since I didn't have enough to get Castorice myself but I sure saw that revive help with my Currency War runs (in that gamemode you can use characters that you haven't pulled before as long you manage to get them within that Currency War match)
As for Columbina, that makes sense lore-wise at least

Don't defend hsr, her global passive works in every game mode and you can go for sustainless run sometimes, what's more she doesn't even need to be on your team, and you don't need to level her up. You just need to get her. Permanent account buff.

I quit hsr a long time ago but my friend kept playing and from all the times he came back on a new patch to pull and pulled on my account, he got her and I said to him to keep her at lvl 1 cuz her passive is enough of a meme
Also, Im slowly but surely getting ruan mei's e6 cuz at least once a year we can buy her from the store lol
theres something very funny about being this lazy on a game that goes "noOoOo you have to get the next shiny unit to clear content without losing your sanity grrrr"
