If Sandrone is in the 15th slot, and Alice is one of the hidden ones (because she was one of the characters teased with a picture at the start of Nod-Krai), that still leaves one hidden character.

If this 17th character leads into Snezhnaya (like how Kazuha led into Inazuma and Ineffa led into Nod-Krai), then this could be a whole new character we haven't met yet. Orrrr a Harbinger (hopium).

Ok, point of reference, Alice doesn't currently have a playable character ID in the files. So in spite of being in teaser, she is likely not coming this version. There was semi-reliable info from leakers that she was supposed to be out in 6.6... but that was back when the dev cycle had her part of a pyro/cryo Alice/Nicole team. Nicole is obviously pyro now, so it seems their plans changed if that info was correct.

Now we have two other semi-interesting point. One is that by now we usually have full version number info in the files. We're still missing info for patch 6.8. It currently isn't there, so we may only have an 8 patch version instead of 9 like the usual sets. And second... technically we already have the 2 other characters. Though most people would not consider the mannekins extra characters, the '17 characters per version' doesn't work unless you include one-off lower effort characters like Aloy.

Every year leakers say that during the x.0 patch yes, because the data isn't there yet. We're several patches in, and there's data through 6.7. That's not normal. You could very well be right. But keep in mind that Hoyo breaks its own patterns all the time. (No exclusive summer event area in 5.8 for example). Not to mention if they want versions to be yearly, having one version be one patch short resyncs the schedule since current versions are 54 weeks long.

So yes, maybe you are correct, but don't set your mind on 'definitely' just yet. There's no such thing as 'definitely' in a hoyo game until the devs themself confirm.

His unit in the Knights of Favonius apparently specializes in long ranged support and flexibility such that they can easily split apart and integrate into other units. In gameplay terms, I assume he’s gonna be a bow user with a quickswap/off-field sub-DPS/support role (probably to boost Varka’s main DPS role). Considering Varka says that Lohen’s tougher than him, he could probably apply defense buffs or interruption resist to the team.

Do note that these are just assumptions I’ve made based on current in-game dialogues, I have no info from leaks so take everything with a whole spoonful of salt.

One can guess it's likely to be Sandrone by using some logic:

1. The character only has a visible reflection which mwans they are hidding them on purpose, if we didn't know them why would they hide them?

2. But why hide a character we know when Varka and Nicole are obviously in the teaser? Simple, the character is not as we knew them and so they have something to hide like with Wanderer or Ousia Furina, notably enough she also lacks a Vision or Moon Wheel as those two did before getting their design changes.

3. From what little can be made from the reflection the mystery character is female because their legs don't seem to be those of a male and they are striking a pose usually used by female charcters, most often than not those who are nobles or other types of high class.

4. What character do we know that is female, has a "high class lady" feel to her and is likely to receive a redesign? Most likely candidate is Sandrone who has a wind up key that might make animations awkward and has been pilling up death flags while being relatively likely to be bringed back by virtue of being a robot.
