deleting my genshin account was the worst mistake of my life
i've played genshin since 1.1 with a few breaks here and there, and i loved the game, but as time went on i grew Disillusioned with the game as it felt like it was only getting worse and worse, or at best it was stagnating, this culminating with natlan.
i deleted my account thinking the game would never improve, but then in nodkrai they finally started making changes, finally improving the story instead of stalling with filler arcs, finally adding more cutscenes and improving presentation with animations during dialogue, finally release more male characters...etc
but now it's too late for me, my account is already gone and with it the hundreds of dollars i spent and the things i built for years, it's over for me.

But then I’m also the type of person who keeps physical games I buy and hold onto consoles rather than trade them in - I may want to go back to the games on those consoles.
Account closure through button in menu is simply requesting that, closing the service account. HoYo can still keep your data in their systems. In practice, many companies delete personal data along with account closure after some time even without additional request if they can, as they no longer have a reason to keep them.

As for OP, Hoyo sadly specifically says that account deletion itself is irreversible and permanent after 30 days, so I guess no luck for them here.
But if you really love Genshin so much, create a new account. You'll earn pulls for new characters anyway.
