I usually really like coop events but I'm so tired of them being the same "catch the coins" as a whole or in general another saurian event
~~Natlan's over and yet they still find a way to make me hate it more by making most COOP events based around it~~

Nowadays these coop events are just competitive and there's barely any fun involved anymore, it's sad, really liked beating up stuff together
That's the closest thing we have to arknights' contingency contract event mechanic in genshin, but they removed it in the third iteration of energy amplification
But each iterations of it everytimes it came back became less and less fun until it completely lost its charm of why everyone loved it and people just stopped caring and asking for it to come back
The very first iteration of Theater Mechanicus was nearly perfect in concept and design, it just needed some bug fixing, QoL changes, and of course just extra base content like more enemies and locations. It was a textbook tower defense game put into Genshin, the creativity and time investment needed was exactly like the old flash games everyone has experienced. This is why most of the community will tell you that the first version was the best. However, with each iteration of Mechanicus they kept introducing new and rather annoying mechanics in the attempt to keep the game "fresh," as well as remove old mechanics. They also started to dumb down the gameplay AND make it significantly faster, which ruined the experience. The game turned into a puzzle minigame where you had to "find the right combo" to clear the stage, instead of being a multi-wave true tower defense with the full creativity of using all the towers.
To add to that:
- the first iteration, you would upgrade towers based on the currency you got from defeating the enemies/waves, with all towers being available on every stage and relatively powerful (though vaporize and melt were the most broken). The stages had plenty of places to throw enemies off with characters like Jean and Klee, or using reactions like Overloaded. Also, plenty of Ruin Guards (for bow characters to hit their weak spots to disable them momentarily). Generaly speaking, it was pretty interactive and fast paced.
- the second iteration, they introduced the "draw random cards, pick one to upgrade and be lucky to get the ones you want", tuned enemies HP up, tuned down some towers while not buffing the others enough.
- the third iteration, they went for a combination of upgrading towers outside of battle, prebuilt towers (that you had to spend time selling if they weren't good for your strategy), limited elements in certain stages, selecting specific buffs before battle (which further pigeon-holed you to specific elements), further increasing enemy HP, disabling co-op, tuning down the effect of some characters' skills (iirc, no Jean or Klee juggling enemies in this one) and generally leaving you just standing there looking at your towers for minutes hoping no enemy passes just to have to start over because your strategy wasn't "the right one".
I still had fun in all of them, but they really gutted the fun out of it with each iteration. I ended up being one of the players asking for it to never return if it was to keep getting worse like that.
Btw, I recently notice the same has been happening to Honkai Impact events. In the last year, we got several events reusing gameplay from older events, which would be perfectly fine if not for the fact that most of them were worse, dumbed-down versions of the previously fun minigames.
There's still some fun events here and there, the Bomberman one was quite enjoyable.
I don't know when the saurian events started in nod krai but they prepared 5 of them every patch , tho i don't know how many of them went by already .
God, I hate the fucking Yumkasaur the most.
Probably adding fuel to the fire.
They understand that gacha game players at large are not really gamers outside the gacha/mobile environment and would rather perform on some mindless hamster wheel than seek actual fun games (that includes the core gameplay of Genshin as well, people don't necessarily enjoy Genshin's combat despite that being one of the things that define the game). Securing those people have higher priority than putting out more quality content for the average person who just likes playing games.
yeah, i also see many players who don't like exploration.
Unfortunately, people missed the point of it. Instead of having fun they decided to spend all day malding over not being able to fully complete a mode that was clearly not intended to have a 100% clear rate. And so we'll be probably stuck with Saurians' kleptomania for a very long time now.
I enjoyed it quite a lot, despite only 100%ing like 2 out of rhe 13 matches I played.
When was the last time we had fewer than 5 events in a patch? My events tab currently has like 8 things in it and I’m AR 60
This is such an inexplicable hill to die on. Genshin Impact has a *lot* of events.
And where did you get this "common opinion" from?
Gap between current windtrace (Dec 2025) and previous one (May 2024) - over 1.5 years. Relative to other types of events and happenings in this game, most people wouldn’t say it happens all that often.
I hate coin collecting events like the one in the post. We get one of these events almost every damn patch so the two aren't remotely equivalent.
We did just get a whole ass event that had a bunch of mini games that were different though.
BRING BACK THE UBER EATS
Also why not bring back Timaeus' 20 years behind sucrose's furnace event where teams of 4 can beat up shit and deliver elemental energy to the furnace to power it up? Make it like defense of the ancients/TD except we're the fighters.
The events they replaced were the exploration based ones. We haven't even had so much as a Mini-Seelie event in two years, let alone something on the level of re-exploring Enkanomiya or some of the old treasure hunt events.
Seriously, fuck the hell off with these bs events.

You guys remember the event where we had elemental turrets that shot a hilichurls in waves? I think enough time has passed that we can have that making a return, people were tired of variations of that mini game but is been a while.
downvoted for wanting to have fun with the characters instead of the clunky saurians? main sub moment
Heck, Natlan made sense to have Saurian focused events (and that was mostly first half of patches) and we only had saurian stuff this and last patch
But nope, only 3 events involve using the saurians since 5.4, that's like 3 out of 24 events
Can’t stand how boring they are and we get them all the time like please Hoyo try better.
The problem with these events are that cheaters lag so badly and make it annoying. I can win *every single damn stage* easily, if people don't lag.
At least this current Saurian event is kinda fun, unlike boring Windtrash.
Maybe come up with a better argument next time to convince people who like it to stop playing it I guess until they stop making it lol, or just ignore it, not my problem anyways. If people didn't engage with it they wouldn't keep bringing it back.
Hoyo: I hear you, here's more Suarian coin collecting events.
They should've given the gimmick to Freminet or something, to justify his existence as yet another on-field 4-star DPS.
My teams were literally killing enemies so fast that they didn't even have a chance to render in on the 10x score mode and people playing C0 teams of whatever the stage shilled were getting like 4-5x my score because you straight up just got that much more score for using them; the "generic" boosts were all 2 point increments while the shill boosts gave 3-4 extra on lower cooldowns.
Also no idea what you mean by "hard" anyways. Your difficulty depends on how much you pull. Do you mean like visionary mode which is just an account check? This game isn't mechanically difficult to perform so all the difficulty comes in the form of team comps, which are increasingly niche and requires your credit card.
Not and never on my account. Lol.
It's Neuvi and Ineffa for me.
This event was impossible to get Platinum if you didn't have the characters yourself. Even Gold was very difficult and required knowing a character's entire kit and rotation... that you don't even have. The trial characters were hot trash, including Mavuika. I think even the weapon was only lvl 80! Varessa had like 90% Crit DMG. And the buffs were so pigeon-holed that you couldn't just use other characters you did have with some overlap in the buffs granted. It's only 20-40k Mora+a bit of Artifact XP in rewards lost, and at least the primos were attainable. But I remember that being at least one counter example. You could NOT brute force the top-tier scores unless you had the characters or found some cheese strat. First time I really ran into that as a day 1 Welkin player and felt like I was actively punished for not being a meta slave.
To a less extent, I think I recall https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Unlimited_Fighting_Championship being pretty trash too.
You can get 500-750 points per idle. Just don't forget to press button once in a while or the game will detect you being idle. I saw a lot of players being idle too.
In the end it’s still a saurian coin event…
I think the rhythm one is the only saurian event that didn’t have coins or coin adjacent things (ie. rings or orbs)
I honestly don't get the aim of MHY in making these annoying super short clunky minigames once a monh which are them gone forever. Let's take this windtrace - jut put a proper mode with saurians permanently in Natlan, add tutorial, good levels, leaderborads, control settings and other base minimum shit for arcade games and then send us these 420 or whatever coins in the mail monthly (spread them over a week if some dark patterns are needed like on anniversary, tools already exist for this), not tying to the game. This way people who want to play it will have an actual pleasant experience (increasing retention) and people who couldn't care less about arcade with clunky controls and bad level design would be content too (also increasing retention).
It feel as most of current events were made in short time and they feel "empty" as if they still hope for people to play Wonderland mode....
