Unfortunately, this has been AI generated using Google Gemini. It's not a real cosplay.

Legit question, how do you tell these days?
Cordellium2026-01-03 01:16
There is a long and a short to this. In short, what raises suspicion is either:
1. Cosplay comes close, but does not match the real thing with significant differences. Real cosplayers try to get cosplays accurate, and you can't buy expensive cosplays that are 70% accurate.
2. They have posted dozens of cosplay images in high frequency in a short amount of time.
3. They claim to be 18-20 years old, with 1000+ of cosplay images, and they include OF link
4. The cosplay image has the "cosplayer" focused and the background is blurred
So any of those above raises suspicion that it's fake and AI generated. I then use what is called "SynthID" which is a free program Google gemini provides. You input a picture, and synthid will tell you if their own technology was used to create the image. This only works for AI made using Gemini. If they use Chat GPT or some other AI generated platform, synthID will not work. However most AI fakers use Google Gemini so it catches a lot of them
Also AI still makes inconsistency mistakes. If you check the cosplayers AI generated stuff, you will see things are different from picture to picture. Maybe the tattoos changed, stuff in the background is different despite being the same location. Very little things, but things that prove it's not a real picture.

I didn’t realize until Cordellium pointed it out but they’re right. If you look at the iPhone it looks a bit off and if you look at the other posts they have the phone switches cases, camera layout, flash layout, and mic layout. To have all these different things over many years would be fine but the account is claiming to be a new account posting recently taken photos. Also in this image it’s super hard to tell but the fingers, in other posts are a blurry mess, with the eyeliner also being blurry in the few images that you see it. Unfortunately fake OF girls will and are popping up left and right thanks to these AI tools.

User was perma banned for baiting with AI trash. Thank you! and they very quickly... [deleted] their post.

W mod. godspeed with moderating this kind of content. It's been like a plague in the past few weeks and their main targets are anime/game fandoms. Not only is it scummy and fraudulent to try to pass of an AI generation as a genuine cosplay to sell OF, but it also makes a mockery out of the real cosplayers who put time and effort into their craft.
