Worth coming back to in 2026?

I got interested in this game back when I first learned about Zhongli and this games music I thought his character design is really good so I joined and quickly fell in love with the other characters who were introduced such as Nuevilette Dottore and the Captain for his unique design. Unfortunately I left when Natlan came around thinking outside the music the story and region was kinda underwhelming. How have the recent updates been? I recently saw Dottore is getting his moment to shine which is something I remember being super hyped for.
Is it worth giving this game a second chance?

Dottore is only here to have his ass kicked after he plays for a bit, I wouldn't call that a moment to shine.

But if all it took you to drop the game was the story of a single region that was "underwhelming", then I don't think the game changed much, so not worth it to come back.

You keep describing your interest in the game through character design elements not game play. The game play has gotten deeper but is fundamentally still the same. If character design is the only thing that appeals to you, Genshin is not for you.

Perhaps an anime is? I don't mean that rudely, I mean that an anime or a manga would let you appreciate character designs without game play you don't enjoy getting in the way.

If you need validation from others to enjoy something, is better to not even try it or it will be just a waste of time till you give up again. Try to find something where you don't need the opinion of others, and this goes to the tens of people that ask the same question every day.
