I got Varesa!!! Genshin Impact Day 50, 51, 52
Hello and Happy New Year! I haven’t posted in the past days because well, I was doing New Year stuff, but I got a huge update! I did so much today.
I finally got Varesa! I think this was my 70th Wish on her banner, and I knew I was getting her since my last 5 star was Keqing on Arlecchino’s banner. I also got another Chevreuse, a sword, and later a new character from a free blue Wish. I hadn’t really prepared for Varesa to be honest cause I didn’t really know what I needed or if I’d even be getting her, so there was so so much I still needed to do when I actually got her.
First I needed a weapon. I wanted to do it right, so went with some of you guys’ recommendation (I also looked it up) and needed the Flowing Purity book. But that was a Fontaine weapon… Okay, first time to Fontaine I went. I already had a free waypoint unlocked pretty close to the city so I took this funny waterboat and went there. It’s also kinda funny that I still get the “highly dangerous” wherever I go, even in the city. Got there, but saw that I needed certain Fontaine materials to even buy the weapon blueprint. Okay, lots of walking around, unlocking waypoints, swimming underwater for that. I’ll be honest I didn’t really get the chance to really explore and get chests and stuff because I was just so focused on getting what I needed.
Materials for the blueprint were in, I could finally get my weapon!! …Or so I thought. I needed 50 more of those Condense or whatever crystals! 50!!! Okay, lots and lots more walking around… as I was farming for those I also went to the island in Natlan where Varesa’s own materials were. But as I set my first foot onto that damn island I was already pulled into a quest with my little dino buddy. I fought Varesa’s boss which went surprisingly well, I didn’t have much trouble with it. I explored more there and got like half the waypoints as I collected Varesa’s flowers, that was fun! But I also realized the Fontaine crystals were here too, so I got some in Natlan as well.
FINALLY i had enough crystals to craft the weapon. I had been saving up my weapon leveling gems so I could level it immediately. Then, ascension materials… all new stuff that I didn’t have. I tried the domain but it took me 4 minutes!!! I got enough for the first ascension but knew I needed help for more. But first I got the other stuff, the stuff you need from enemies. Lots of crabs and seals later, as well as these… purple round things? Whatever’s going on there.
I asked someone for help (who had helped me before too and is very strong) and we got through the domain a bunch more together!! Since I killed quite some enemies I could ascend the weapon to level 60, though I only had enough gems for 57. We also fought the boss a bit more. Varesa is at level 60 now, and I basically have enough to ascend her except the flowers. I already got almost all of them in my own world so now I’ll either have to wait or join someone else, but I’m not sure how many people my rank have this island unlocked yet.
That was a lot! Like really a lot!!! I unlocked two whole new regions and explored quite a bit there, but mostly just for the materials. I’m very happy to have Varesa and I think I got her quite far already. If I look at my Collei at level 50 with a 60 weapon who does perfectly fine, I think Varesa should do well at this level too so I think I’ll try her out tomorrow. So how do you play this character? Lol, it’s still confusing.
I did some other things too like the Theatre thing. I basically just rely on the trial characters and stole a character from someone else, so that went fine. The new event too, with the dinos. Also when I was fighting that fire boss for Varesa, it went so much slower when I swapped Collei for Xingqiu? I thought he’d do well since water against fire but I guess not. Don’t know why she’s stronger when she’s lower leveled. I should also level Chevreuse since you guys said she’s good with Varesa but I think I’ll be busy with this for a bit longer lol.
I’ll get back on Varesa tomorrow, I’m all motivated now. But I need some Genshin rest now, I did way too many things and saw way too much new stuff! If you have any tips on how to use Varesa or what to farm or anything let me know, I can use it. See you guys tomorrow, bye bye!

For talent priority focus on normal attacks first, that's where her plunge slam damage comes from. Then focus to level her burst, and finally her E can be of lowest priority between her 3 talents.
Have fun killing dinosaurs and seals/crabs for Varesa and her weapon! XD
Also random rare Freminet pull as you get to Fontaine, convenient for underwater explo.
Also yes, weirdly enough, Lava Dragon needs Pyro to get out of it's shell and eventually get debuffed/stunned, burning or overload does work nicely.
For Freminet you could have gotten any other 4\* in the pool, but i'd say it's a rare chance because Freminet is currently the 4\* that haven't been promoted on a banner for the longest time, the second being Noelle.
The first is Long Night's Oath, which was basically designed specifically for Varesa (though some others can use it, too). It's her best set since it gives huge boosts to Plunge Attack damage, which Varesa does a lot of. It can be found on the same island where Varesa's village is. The downside is that the domain where you get this set is shared with Finale of the Deep Galleries, an artifact set which is good on exactly ONE character in the entire game: Skirk. Since you don't have Skirk, every piece you get from this set is going to be a waste (unless you happen to get Skirk later, or they add a new character that can use the set).
The second option is almost as good: Obsidian Codex. This set is also in Natlan, and gives big crit rate boosts to Nightsoul characters (basically, all on-field Natlan characters). It shares a domain with Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, an amazingly useful set for Natlan support units, like Iansan and Kachina - it grants damage bonus of the elements involved whenever the equipping character triggers an Elemental Reaction (so if Kachina triggered Crystalize with Electro and Geo, Electro and Geo would get a big damage boost).
Varesa's best team is a Chevreuse team, and so there's no room for a Geo character there (Pyro and Electro only). Eventually you're going to need other teams, as well, and Kachina (along with any other Natlan support units you happen across, like Ororon) will be able to use the Cinder City artifacts you get as a byproduct of farming Varesa's artifacts.
As for whether Kachina is good... fresh out of the package, not great. But with Cinder City equipped, she gains a lot of value since her Crystalize reactions would then give big damage bonuses to the element she Crystalizes with.
If you didn't have Chevreuse, she'd be a decent partner for Varesa - but since you do, she'll need to go on another team!
