I was just playing through act 4 of the Nod Krai archon quest and was reminded that Aether always speaks like he’s speaking to a crowd, like he just woke up and started speaking super loudly to Paimon, like holy fuck
Apparently I Iearned from that convo how gay people say no to each other.
Nefer can manipulate the logical, the greedy, and the deluded. Lauma is none of these, because she's 100% full moon crazy about her religion. Thus, when she wants something, there is no stopping her. People just think she's peaceful because she walks around handing out free food and going "Praise the moon! Be friends! Don't eat the animals!".
This is the same woman who saw a fifty foot Fatui fortress and waged a total assault on it. Didn't even blink. The Traveler gets a pass because he's fought enough BS that nothing short of the Abyss itself can scare him, but Lauma? Lauma walked in and started throwing dendro deer at people like it was a buy one get one free sale.
Remember. Nefer considers the Frostmoon Scions as a faction *on par* with the Fatui. The same Fatui who were comprised of multiple gods, a few khaenrians, several high-grade artificial life forms, and the worst evil known to man...Bankers. The Scions have...Lauma. This should tell you everything you need to know about how dangerous she is.
Lauma is 100% on the side of the *real moon.* To the point that she stood against hundreds, hell, *thousands,* of years of religious doctrine to say "Hey, dumbasses, that isn't the real moon!" when barely anyone else alive at present was aware of that fact. Her skepticism isn't about her religion, it's about the fake religion that the Frostmoon Scions had propped up for ages because they weren't sensitive to its currents.
Lauma will do whatever it takes to see her religion through, even if it means pissing off her next door neighbors that happen to have been waging war on six other nations in *tandem,* alongside fighting both Celestia and The Abyss. All for the sake of the true moon. Was she right? Yes. But that doesn't mean she isn't crazy.
Lauma is soft spoken. Lauma is nice. Lauma is charming. Lauma is also one of the single most dangerous people in Nod Krai, because she has no self-preservation instinct. She has carved herself up, has all but declared war on the Fatui, and has faced down an incredible horror from the Abyss without so much as blinking, all because she believes in the power of the Moon.
She, as one woman, is enough to maintain the Frostmoon Scions hold on the Nod Krai region. She knows that her enemies, by all rights, outnumber her by nearly a thousand to one, if not hilariously more so...and yet, there she remains. People don't really notice this because they are distracted by the fact that she looks like she should be catching hypothermia in arizona on a summer afternoon, but she shouldn't be underestimated by any means.
Nefer is still grateful but the things Lauma is asking her are neither easy nor cheap so she constantly needs to remind her the boundaries of her benevolence.
The fact we still have Keith Silverstein, Yuri Lowenthal and Erika Harlacher (who are all stellar) is mind blowing. And regardless of the reasons why they are no longer a part of the cast — Kayli Mills, Valeria Rodriguez and even Corina Boettger's (early on) performances were very good, the former two's especially.
Who does she remember telling her that fact now?
(Me included GYATT)
I want to see her to find out that Fischl managed to create life with 10% of a recipe from an angel from ancient times with 0% training and 100% of delulu powers.
Even when the actors aren’t American, they still make them sound like that. Which is a shame, since their normal voices sound unique with their accents, like with the European actors.
v 'uhm, guys? actually 🤓'
Put that accent on a character with actual country vibes and it would've been fine
Just look at Boothill rocking the cowboy accent, the guy's a beloved character in the HSR community
Then there's Aglaea with a posh accent, fits her elegant character perfectly
... also, fun fact, Yoimiya has that accent in Japanese (because her JPVA, Kana Ueda, has it)
That’s the kind of thing I mean, though. There are accents I wouldn’t be *shocked* to hear from her in English, but as an American I couldn’t really assign her to any one English-speaking region, even if her outfit wasn’t so obviously Japanese. Because we don’t really have a “Kansai” and idk if any other English-speaking nation does either.
However, also consider Ifa's "Hi guys, my name's Ifa, and I just turned five!". That's one of the funniest lines to come out of Genshin, honestly, and the VA's delivery and sarcasm killed it
Her voice sounds noticeably aged, and I hope they'll actually let her look it. The game could use a crotchety old mentor figure type character.
**Barbeloth:** *Oh my dear student has such charming friends~*
**Mona:** *Don't you* **DARE** *use MY FACE to hide your wrinkles, you crone!*
Barbeloth: just do me in at this point.
Feel less comfortable sharing this information in the future.
And i agree
Did all their quests except hers and razors
There were some absolute gems in that summer isles event.
However, when Mona is on screen I always ALWAYS let it play as HoYo intended.
"this world, shall perish
AND ITS ASHES
WILL FALL LIKE RAIN"
But if Mona takes the award I'm not going to complain, she steals the show every time she's on camera
Pretty sure it was during Mualani's tribal chronical, so that probably means 2024, but that's my favorite voiced line in all of Genshin. I get the hate for Paimon's old English VA, but I'll never understand the people who said she was a bad voice actor - her Paimon displayed way more emotion than the current one does.
I would do another one of those ranking quiz lists but they took so long years ago. Now we have 100+ characters and I cant imagine how long it would take. Mona is going to suffer from not being on screen and not used as much like any other character. At least now I can use her with Mualani.
