Theory on natlan characters
This is a random thought so don't get mad at me, but....
I think we're going to get more natlan based characters in the future.
Just think about the layout they have so far.
Children of the echoes has 2 playable characters, Kachina and Xilonen. Masters of the nightwind have 2 playable characters, Citlali and Ororon. Collective of plenty has 2 playable characters, Iansan and Varesa.
Vs:
People of the springs has only one playable character, Mualani. Scions of the Canopy has only one playable character, Kinich. (Although I suppose one could argue that Mauvika is technically still a part of that tribe).
To me, it feels like there's a reason for this layout, like something more will be coming to the game in a future update.

-Yumemizuki Mizuki, from Inazuma
-Lan Yan, from Liyue
-Escoffier, from Fontaine
-Dahlia, from Mondstadt
-Skirk, from Hell
Even now, the newly released Durin is from Mondstadt [Nefer is also from Sumeru in lore but in game is considered a Nod Krai unit, so she's a special case]. We're also about to get Varka, from Mondstadt, and Zibai, from Liyue.
So a future Natlan character would be probable even if there wasn't still space in two tribes for someone.
Edit: got the lore a bit wrong, the term Muratan specifically referred to the group that immigrated to Mondstadt. The ones that didn't ended up being the Tenochzitoc people, who were killed by Bakunawa. Point still stands, anyone with Muratan ancestry is prob just gonna be a Mondstadt unit. It's even possible that some older Mondstadt units can be revealed to have Muratan ancestry, like what happened with Bennett.
Imagine a new character whose parent hails from monstadt, but is a descendant of the muratan tribe and their other parent is a natlanese travelling merchant.
Could it be possible that the natlanese dna could reawaken the Muratan bloodline, and in doing so, bring back the Muratan tribe?
Natlanese is an ethnicity, while the individual tribes are cultures. There are probably many living Natlanese of various tribes with DNA from people in the lost anemo tribe. To "bring back the tribe" would more likely be to reestablish the lost culture and practices. Nothing to do with DNA.
Maybe the mixed dna, along with obtaining long forgotten artefacts from the lost tribe is what is needed for it to be reactivated
We know that in Natlan, ley lines are really important to their culture and may even contain memories.
In the 5.2 update, a quest was added to the Natlan region, in which we find the Muratan homeland.
I find it strange that they would add this and then just move on.
So, I guess what I'm saying is that maybe the natlanese dna could, in a sense, 'reawaken' the ancient Muratan bloodline. Possibly in the form of memories or maybe even by creating a longing that'll send the character to natlan to find the source.
Mizuki , Varka , Mika , chiori , Nefer etc
Liyue every year.
Inazuma : Kirara, Chiori, Mizuki.
Monstadt : Mika, Dahlia, Durin, Varka
Sumeru : Sethos.
Fontaine : Escoffier.
So yeah next might be Natlan.
Also, since they already frequently release characters from older regions, it'd be very strange to never see another new Natlan character.
After all, Natlan has been fighting a war against the abyss for 500 years. Besides, with no surviving descendants within natlan, who can possibly verify the information.
The oldest characters in Natlan are Mauvika and Citlali, but even they were born after these events passed.
Although natlan does mention the hero Tenoch many times, who was, in fact, a member of the Muratan tribe.
Just not right now.
We're still only 3.7 patches into Nod Krai.
Very doubtful we will get anymore Natlanese anytime soon. Every Natlan character got doom posted to hell, poor Mav caught the worst.
During Natlan everyone just complained like whiny bitches. Of course the devs abandoned ship to Nod Krai, nostalgia will make that $$!!
From a dev standpoint, why the hell would they make a character everyone will just piss and Mona about when they can release Varka Durin Alice and catch that nostalgia $. Sucks for people that actually enjoyed Natlan and had to deal with a year of hate just to get shafted on content at the end
Isn't it easier to just respect their designs and flaws and then pull for the characters you actually want
