Complaint about birthday art

Birthdays disappoint me more and more. When I think that next year we’ll only get the birthday message and the illustration (not even animated anymore), without the two chibi illustrations or the art with interactions with the Traveler… They’re cutting the budget year after year to leave as little as possible. Hoyo is so greedy…

If you think that is a major percent of the player base—think again. There's also a different between something fun, like a big social event, and getting some lame birthday message.

The comments are so pointlessly rude and don’t feel that things have been slowly taken away over time such as character web events and collected miscellany.

As someone pointed out, chibi arts were one of the few consistent forms of media showing what characters are doing in their life or interacting with other characters outside of appearances in events. Like when was the last time you saw, say, Kokomi or Chiori?

I feel you. I think it’s just because there’s more and more characters joining the roster and I guess they feel like the engagement isn’t worth the effort anymore. I will definitely miss it

At launch there were 20 characters so that's one birthday every 18 days. Which is fair to do 2x birthday arts and anim.

Now there are 105 which means there is a birthday art needed roughly every 3 days so twice a week from twice a month.

I'd much rather the 2d team are working on the pretty event interfaces, and in game assets than posting a chibi that gets 34k likes on X from a player base of nearly 300 million players.

This was literally something that was going to eventually happen. Hoyo isn't an indie game genshin isnt their first gacha game. Why have chibi art and animations if theyd eventually be unab k e to keep up given their long standing plans for the game
