How much primos required for 5 star characters?

Just to start off I guess I’m a new player-ish (almost 2 months now) and wanted to save for Mauvika for when she does come to the game again.

I heard 5 star characters can require 14,000 to 20,000 primogems and I have 13,500 primogems saved as of right now. It’s probably not enough but wanted an estimated number from those who got Mauvika (or any other 5 star characters).

If you get bad luck and go to pity and lose your 50 50 the cost of a limited 5\* is roughly 160 pulls. Usually you get a 5\* sooner than that but that is the worst case scenario. It costs 160 primos per pull so 160 \* 160 = 25,600 primos needed in the worst case scenario. Hopefully you'll not be forced to double pity but yeah.

A 5-star character can be obtained with 1 wish = 160 primogems. But if you want to collect 100% garant for yourself.
1 character = 90 wishes + 50/50 more + 90 wishes = 180 wishes, multiplied by 160 primogems, as the price of 1 wish, we get 28,800 primogems.

It takes a maximum of 180 wishes to guarantee the limited 5\* you want.

180\*160=28,800

Absolute maximum of primogems you need to save up to guarantee the limited 5\* you want, then, is 28,800.

*That said*....other factors come into play. Like: was the last 5\* you pulled on the limited banner a standard character? If so, the next character you get on the limited banner is guaranteed to be whichever is featured (so your max required primogems would then be 14,400 since you now only have to wish up to 90 times from the last 5\* you pulled on the banner).

Or: have you spent wishes since the last 5\* you got on the banner? Then you only need to save up to whatever that number is subtracted from 180 to figure out how many wishes you need to have for your guarantee.

Or: every time you get a 4\* and up thing that's a dupe of one you already have, you get some starglitter in return that can be used to buy wishes, thus saving you from having to save primogems for those wishes. Similar to how you can spend stardust for 5 wishes of each type each month.

You forgot that it's virtually impossible to get to 90

So max will be between 150 and 160 most often

I did not forget, I made it clear it was the absolute max they would ever hit. And that there are other factors. If the OP wants to be absolutely sure they will get the character they want, they will want to make sure they have 180 wishes (between primos, pity, starglitter, fates) saved up.

If they want a pretty good chance they'll get them? Yeah, 160 will probably get them there.

So, there's hard and soft pity in the game. Hard pity means the absolute most amount of wishes you have to spend to get a character, which is 90. Soft pity is the threshold where the chances of getting a character are greatly improved, which is somewhere around 75. So you can just divide your primos by 160 to figure out how many wishes you have, and compare those numbers. 13.500 primos is about 85 wishes, so you'll definitely get a character with that (since you'll gain starglitter throughout the pulling process which you can buy more wishes with in the shop).

Now it just depends on whether you're guaranteed or not. If yes, congrats, there's your character. If not, you'll have to multiply the necessary wishes by 2, so at most 180 to definitely get the character. Which you currently don't have, so you'd have to get lucky and get your characters early, before hitting pity.

Edit to add: 90 wishes amounts to 14.400 primos and 180 wishes is 28.800. So that's the amount you'd need to get a character if you have the worst possible luck while pulling.

Its not actually 28,800 primogems as because of starglitter build up of pulling, shop, dailies, endgame, events on the day

Its more like 160 wishes overall worst case scenario. But in the same rhetoric math works out you're more likely to pull a 5 star on one wish vs going all the to 90. Math be math
