I’m a returning genshin player and I have no nod-krai characters and recently pulled durin. I want Zubai but would it just make sense to skip for more hexeri characters?
Do you think posting your current roster would help us answer that question?

Sure Nod Krai characters are great.
Just use Fischl, she’s Hexesomething too. You just need two in a team to activate the passive.

I hate that I need to use Sucrose (I hate her) to proc Hexen buffs for my Fischl or Mona... since I lost my 50/50 on Durin banner.
And in Overload comp, my Fischl now is far weaker than people who can benefit from the broken Durin Fischl core. 😭

If you want them, yes. If you don't want them, no.

Yes, you should pull Zibai.
If you're able to also pull Columbina, get both, but if you can only get enough primos for one, get Zibai. A strong carry will make your life much easier for all kinds of content
Curious_Ring_28132026-01-04 05:36
Is Zibai going to be strong without Columbina though?
I feel like a strong off fielder would be better for an early account because then you can just spend all your time dodging.

If you want Zubai, go for it~
Illuga will be on her banner too, so you'll (likely) get two new characters 🙏

In terms of account strength, it's difficult to recommend going for a single nod-krai character because they tend to like to stick together. Nefer can be really good, but REALLY wants Lauma to compete at the top level. Flins can be really good, but REALLY wants Ineffa to compete at the top level. Similarly, Zibai is going to be okay by herself, but will have a massive powerspike if you also pick up Columbina (who can also buff the previously mentioned characters). The tricky part comes next. Ineffa and Lauma are powerful enough to play nice with non Nod-Krai units, but not so much Nefer/Flins/Columbina/Zibai. If you're not willing to spend 2 5-stars on a Nod-Krai team, I'd only really be considering Ineffa on the next banner.
As for Hexzerei, I would honestly hold on until we have more info about what's upcoming. The witch buffs have been really nice for existing accounts because it allowed them to use units that had been shelved for years, but I wouldn't necessarily say the buffs made them "pull this 5-star NOW"-worthy. They're alright and can be fun to use, but if you're trying to push endgame content, they might not be your first choice
All of this to say, the game is starting to lean heavily into shilling new characters in both Stygian Onslaught and Spiral Abyss while also making it harder to just grab one unit that can work as a standalone. If you have an idea of what characters you want/teams you want to build, we can recommend around those. Otherwise, Ineffa has a lot of great matchups against bosses in SO, Columbina will likely be a solid buffer for Nod-Krai carries going forward, and Zibai will probably have a boss she's great against and will do amazing provided you pulled for Columbina as well.

Quick addendum, none of this particularly matters if you're just trying to have a good time in the game. The whole roster is generally playable and can comfortably clear most of Spiral Abyss and all of the primogems from Stygian. At the end of the day, pull who you like

> can comfortably clear most of Spiral Abyss
While true, this subreddit (and a lot of online Genshin community) really under sell the baseline skill thats involved with clearing the Abyss with current off meta units.
Like yes, you can clear the abyss with 4 star units, but 99% of the player base does not have the skill to do that.
Hell, my partner has several meta teams and STILL struggles to clear floor 12 on many rotations.
Definitely pull whoever you want, don't do it just because its gonna be stronger. But lets not pretend that there isnt a world of difference between trying to clear the Abyss with Eula vs. Mavuika
wanderingthought162026-01-04 06:51
Oh 100%, especially with the recent abyss, a full clear on floor 12 is not what I'd consider 'doable with many teams.' That's why made sure to say most of spiral abyss haha. 11 is doable with almost anything and while missing out on f12 rewards hurts a bit, it's only 200 primos if you get 0 stars which isn't the end of the world
Durzaka2026-01-04 17:07
You know, fair. I missed the most on my initial read of your comment.

I have easier Time clearing with eula Than most of my fontaine units . Sure its getting harder but that only started late natlan
nolift99kg2026-01-04 06:01
I mean i like the idea of this whole lunar thing but God the main dps's like flins and neffer have an absolute generic and boring playstyle and zibai isnt looking like an exception. Ineffa does look fun tho so im probably going for her and lauma as well
