What was the biggest misjudgment you had about a character?
I start. When i was early to the game, i accidentally got Chevreuse from the standard banner, and i was like, darn it, she only shots a bullet and that's it? So useless (at the time, i thought characters that apply their element frequently, or even better, from off-field, are what i should look for).
Later, i found out i can form an overload comp with her, Raiden and Xiangling, so i started actually using her.
But it wasn't until i found out how many people don't have her on their accounts that realized how lucky i was getting her from standard banner and didn't take her for granted anymore, specially since Mavuika's overload team was my favorite team at the time.
Fast forward to this patch, I actually went for Xilonen and then Varesa (although I didn't actually want them) just to get her C6. And now, Varesa has become my favorite character to play and i'm glad pursuing Chevreuse made me get her. Chevy just never disappoints.

Got him when I started on his first rerun after being told he fits in almost any team just to find out soon he didn't fit in my first teams (Mono Geo, Cyno Hyperbloom, Wanderer hypercarry) and before I got to play the teams he's actually great in he got pushed out of them (Xilonen, Escoffier, Lunar Charge etc.).
I started the game right before Inazuma chronicled banner, and my friend was pouring Kazuha propaganda down my throat. I'm glad i didn't have enough pulls to go for him at the time.
But for some reason, he just feels so damn awful to use and somehow he's not killing as fast as I expected him to or kill too fast? Especially after all the power up buffs wear off and he's still in his burst mode. Or he swaps off early to reapply dendro and the rotation becomes all awkward. Especially if I kill too fast and one E totally misses, usually means he cannot get his burst back properly.
I never use him anymore.
I was collecting all Fontainians for my collection and so ofc Emilie, being Fontainian, was included in the list. Ngl, I wasn't really hyped about her nor do I have any original attachment to her since she was just generally released at the tail end of Fontaine/4.x era.
But after pairing her with Arle which started my Burn Arle Agenda, she was so soooo good as an off-fielder that now she's my literal dark horse that I always use with Arle in the Abyss. With Kinich too, she got spread out to multiple teams and glad to say, I am super happy I went with her rather than save up and try for Natlan units (which ironically, Mualani, as much as I love her character, had the absolute worst controls especially for high pings so I would have skipped her either way)
I went into Fontaine with zero hype for her. She had an interesting design, but I wasn't really sold on it. During the story, she really grew on me. I figured I'd give her a pull as a "C0/R1collectable".
After playing her for an hour, I upped her to C2.
After another hour or so, she joined the C6 club.
Now, she's triple Crowned and Level 100.
Her gameplay is fantastic, and she's just so satisfying to use. Watching her fire off a round and absolutely obliterate a boss is incredible.
I tried her on a friend's account and she was really fun!
Apparently I'm not alone. Of the 7 players who borrowed one of my characters for this IT, 6 picked my C0DeathmatchR5 Ineffa, and only 1 picked my C2R1 Akasha top 4% Arlecchino.
I've now gotten to see how the other Nod-Krai characters play out, and I'm definitely pulling Ineffa this time around. Would have made my roster much stronger if I'd had her since her first banner, but hindsight is 20/20.
I initially liked her design a lot and i eventually got her on update day. I thought shes clunky and she missed a lot in 5.0 on release so i forgot about her until xilonen's rerun when i got her and started using her again
Now shes my favorite character and can clear most endgame content with her easily. They had also patched her normals missing so she feels pretty nice to play. I also got C1R1 afterwards and shes destroying everything
Over the course of 3 years, I got him to C6 and level 95 through standard (non-whale) primogem income, and he clears most content faster than my Mavuika, Skirk, and Flins teams, all C0R0 of course.
Wheelchair teams with Escoffier or Ineffa are almost certainly more effective nowadays, so at a low investment I would moreso recommend building him to burst every rotation and such in those teams instead of forcing him into a hypercarry (where I wouldn’t expect much beyond 30k/slash; higher investment is closer to 50-60k/slash). In general, he should have his burst active as much as possible even if he’s not being built as a burst support. One useful mechanic is that his burst scales quadratically depending on the number of enemies hit by his burst attacks (similar to Ganyu), which gives him a strong synergy with Venti. I haven’t looked into how Hexerei affects this in teambuilding.
His main issue is that his cooldowns don’t match many other characters’. I find that putting him in teams with shorter, flexible rotations tends to be more effective than strict ones in endgame content, but there are websites like gcsim that can help with identifying some niche synergies.
Ending up as my main, my most loved character, and the one I cherish the most
His character stroy is everything for me, and I wait for any content about him day after day
I love my femboy magician
When I was still new to the game, I thought Thoma (got him on his debut) and Sayu were great lol.
Lastly, I thought Ganyu was more meta than Ayaka for the longest time.
Took a long time to learn that building her with EM makes her a good sub dps in addition to her already constant electro skill uptime.
Now she's a staple in many teams due to all the roles she can fill at once.
When Kazuha released, everyone was like "Sucrose sidegrade at best" and I ignored him. His trial didn't convince me to pull for him either. When I tried him out on a friend's account though, OH MY GOODNESS, using his E in the overworld literally blew me away. Never have I felt such regret skipping a character.
This is purely from a gameplay perspective.
Never played him due to Scarabs. After leveling him up, I never played him because he just feels awful to play. He feels even worse since I don't have Baizhu.
Well i just today i decided to check her talents and wouldnt you know it? She gives a max 40% increase to pyro and electro damage! WTF?!?!? SINCE WHEN?!?!?!
Thats literally another Bennet, lmao
Her skill gives 1% per 1k health up to 40%. So 40k health gives 40% DMG. Easy enough to do. Wow. Im gonna need to build her
When a party member triggers overload, Chevreuse's hold E gives the whole team up to 40% atk, not damage bonus.
And, when your team only consists of pyro and electro teammates, for 6 seconds after an overload reaction is triggered, she shreds pyro and electro resistance by 40%.
Plus, with her C6, she can provide up to 60% pyro and electro damage bonus (20% per healing tick, max 3 stacks).
And yeah she heals.
She's one of the best, if not the best, 4 stars in the game.
When I pulled him back in 5.2, I was "yeah I have finally a broken dps". But it was too early for my account, I didn't have Furina and I wanted to Focus on other characters at that time.
Now 1 year later in 6.x he's finally built, he feels underwhelming. And I also realized I didn't really like his hydro pump gameplay... I'm a normal attack sucker I guess.
Well regarding a character I slept on... surely Mona. She is an amazing freeze and vape support if understood and equipped properly.
