Bluetooth is a bit funky on Genshin for some reason.
Use a wire.

your device seems to think your controller is a PS and Xbox controller at the same time
Formal_Condition26912026-01-04 16:49
Go into your Bluetooth settings with the controller connected. You should be able to rename the device in Bluetooth Settings. Rename it to “Xbox Wireless Controller”, restart the game, and that should be enough to convince Genshin to stick with the right button labels.

There's no option to rename the device and i can only remove it?
National_Birthday9022026-01-04 17:57
Finally managed to change the name and it works! Thank you!
Formal_Condition26912026-01-04 18:49
Cool, glad you figured it out. I wish there was an option in the menus to specify which controller glyphs you want.
MiniMages2026-01-04 21:49
I swear I would not have thought of this as a solution.
Formal_Condition26912026-01-04 22:02
It’s weird but as far as I can tell Genshin looks at the device name to determine what to show you. I also had to rename my DualSense to “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller” to get Playstation glyphs. That’s been a couple years though, maybe they know what a DualSense is now :)
MiniMages2026-01-04 22:09
I knew Genshin had some shoddy coding but this is hilarious.

Never had this problem with DualSense and thank god because I don't know how to navigate things in PC.
Formal_Condition26912026-01-05 15:27
Oh for sure. This is a mobile platform thing. On PC I have no issue with DualSense as long as it's wired. Have never been able to get it to work properly wireless but that's probably a me issue.
lalabean8522026-01-04 16:58
that’s so funny wtf i’m sorry i can’t help you bc i’ve only ever played on controller (playstation) but this is unironically so funny
Hojuma2026-01-04 17:57
Just a guess but maybe you have desktop configs for steam controller and that messes up something? Try going to steam settings > controller > edit desktop layout, then disable steam input.
National_Birthday9022026-01-05 16:24
i don't have steam installed
Hojuma2026-01-05 17:01
Do you have any other programs that alter controller inputs? Like maybe DS4Windows or Virtual Controller?
Does your controller support different input types?
Do you have another playstation controller plugged in or connected?
edit: it seems you already fixed the problem.
National_Birthday9022026-01-05 21:30
i use ds4windows! i tried connecting without ds4windows at first but genshin only let me switch to controller but i can't even move around in settings lol
i fixed it yesterday but today it sets back to playstation glyphs🤣 maybe i should rename it every time i'm going to play
Hojuma2026-01-06 02:32
Disable DS4windows when playing then. It converts your inputs to PS4 as the name says. The name change probably only worked because DS4Windows didn't recognize your controller.
National_Birthday9022026-01-06 15:53
The thing is i can't play genshin without ds4windows? Like genshin recognized i have a controller and let me switch from keyboard but then I can't move anything in the game, i can't even get out from the settings screen
Hojuma2026-01-06 18:24
Then you could've used something like x360ce Virtual Controller, inputmapper, or literally any other controller input mapping program. I think steam could also do that if you add genshin but I think you need to run steam as admin to enable steam controller support and overlay.
DS4Windows makes your inputs as if they're from a DS4 controller, it's in the name. It will make Genshin recognize it as a DS4 controller.
edit: I tried running Genshin through steam and managed to make my DS4 controller be recognized as an xbox controller
National_Birthday9022026-01-07 08:10
ah I didn't know abt that. i only read to use ds4w for genshin, thank u i will try that!
Latter-Oil-2412026-01-04 18:11
Dafuq dude? How do you even do that? I play on an android tablet with a bluetooth controller, but it never happened to me! (I once played on my cousin's laptop too, but it did not happen)
SputnikMan1232026-01-04 18:30
It seems you are using a 3rd party Nintendo Switch controller. It doesn't play nicely with genshin since it doesn't natively support Switch controllers. I connect my Xbox controller via bluetooth and it works as intended.
