A year ago, I drew what I thought Columbina's boss fight would look like...
I could not have been more wrong. I really thought she'd turn out to be this unfeeling, disconnected from humanity type character who doesn't understand the concept of mortality. That's the vibe I got from how she was described by other characters

Eldritch horror 'Bina seemed very intriguing, but I also knew they weren't going to go that dark for this game.
It turns out they're all a bunch of strawberry flavoured marshmellows
Except for Dottore he's a sick fuck. He is Dr. Mengele
Even Temu Bondrewd knows the assignment of mediocrity.
I'm sure Knockoff Sazanami, Knockoff Aizen and the family-blackmailing Knockoff Mosquito won't disappoint.
She is instantly forgiven of all war crimes
They're still following the tsaritsa and can't disobey her or just stop following her orders.
As for sandrone, I doubt she does much else besides create mechs
Additionally, Arlecchino)has adult operatives as shown in the gendou ringo quest, and she's much harsher with them; they don't seem to be offered the same deal for getting out, and unless Efim was following Crucabaena's philosophy when issuing the Final Instructions to Lyudochka, Peruere is also willing to manipulate things to create more orphans for the House of the Hearth to recruit. Granted, it's very likely that our insight into the House of the Hearth in Fontaine was meant to retcon its portrayal in the aforementioned world quest, but there hasn't been any kind of direct in universe explanation.
As for Sandrone, again, Jenck was tortured and his tongue was cut out. Like, that is A Lot.
Signora is dead. She got what she deserved, and even then, she had a tragic backstory that robbed her of her humanity and left her with nothing but hatred and spite towards Teyvat.
Sandrone silenced a bad soldier that tried to kill the Traveler, Paimon and a Melusine, not just "damaging Curve" (who also has extremely advance tech by non-Aino standards) and thus is an extremely valuable individual to someone like her, who values machines above people, so she ripped the tongue of someone who tried to kill four individuals, AND would've leaked valuable information about the Fatui.
She’s more interesting this way, she doesn’t feel guilty about, she needs them to conduct her business, and there’s nobody around to “punish” her for these actions.
When? We knew Childe didn't care about much besides being able to fight a ton and becoming a Harbinger was both the easiest way to do so as well as a badge of honor that represented his strength. We knew Signora's story and why she did what she did; not actual malice but hatred and spite towards the world that took his lover. We knew Scaramouche wanted revenge on the god that not just created and discarded him, but also denied him of what he saw as his only purpose (and was taken advantage of by the Doctor). We saw how Arlecchino, despite her ability for deadliness and cruelty, was really caring of the children of the House of The Hearth, and even of Furina once she noticed that she had a curse of some kind and probably didn't even know about the Gnosis.
People really just can't fathom the thought of morally grey and mostly three-dimensional characters, and what's more, information asymmetry (thus why they constantly used Childe's voicelines about other Harbingers as gospel). Both of which are the highest strength of miHoYo's stories.
Like, Childe NEVER had any intention of that; he made it very clear that he was calling Morax's bluff, that by summoning Osial, Morax would appear. And he *was* right, because Zhongli himself had said he would have done something had things gone south.
"Oh but Wanderer says"
Wanderer can't even be truthful with his own feelings toward people close to him lol. As Scaramouche, the idea that he was close to the other harbingers was close to zilch.
Even the Fatui themselves were made very clear to not be this generic evil org from pretty much right after the Dvalin fight when Venti talks about the cryo archon a bit. Then Morax makes a deal with the damn gnosis, when strength-wise there really wasn't a good way for them to have gotten the gnosis away from him had he wanted to keep it.
So the org themselves wasn't blanket evil, and the members haven't really been blanket evil, the ONLY one who has been consistently shown to be a P.O.S is Dottore.
Hand me the copium lads.
I'm fine with how she is rn, but imo she would have been more interesting this way. Beautiful art btw
So not exactly the most credible of sources.
He *really* didn't trust anyone, and his description of her was vague enough to make us think Bina could mind control people or turn hearts.
Regardless great art ^^ another great "biblically accurate Bina" I saw was in an animated movie called stairway to heaven heh.
Also ty so much! I enjoyed drawing it. Though with it being an older piece, I'm seeing a lot of my old errors haha maybe I'll draw a new more accurate version soon
And you're welcome, looking forward to the redraw hehe
I also assumed she'd be this scary biblical angel, but I like how in game everyone's voice-overs about her don't really contradict her current personality. Everyone is just like "Huh, this girl is number three? But she's so gentle and distant. Must be something wrong with her."
