Two Internet Bloggers has be sued and received penalty for insulting Hoyoverse players including spreading misinformation, using AI to produce fake info etc.
They should be creating fake info the old fashioned way, by making it up themselves.

Here is the full AI English translation of the text shown in the video.
**Recent Statement regarding Rights Protection Actions**
Recently, regarding multiple online bloggers such as "Fan Shu Connoisseur" (番鼠鉴赏家) and "sijsusu" fabricating rumors, slandering MiHoYo and its games, and insulting/abusing game players, MiHoYo has actively launched rights protection actions. The relevant infringers have been subjected to **criminal coercive measures** or **administrative penalties** by the police, effectively safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of both players and the enterprise.
**Case 1: "Fan Shu Connoisseur"** Previously, MiHoYo received reports from players that the blogger "Fan Shu Connoisseur" persistently published false information across multiple platforms. Through videos, graphics, and text, they fabricated rumors and slandered MiHoYo and its games, while also insulting and abusing players. This severely disrupted the player community environment, affected the gaming experience, and damaged the company's reputation. After MiHoYo reported this to the police, the Xuhui Police investigation revealed the account holder to be a person named Li. The police determined that Li engaged in illegal acts of distorting facts, spreading rumors, and disrupting social order, and imposed an **administrative penalty** in accordance with the law. Regarding Li's infringing behavior, MiHoYo has also filed a **civil lawsuit** to further pursue legal liability.
**Case 2: "sijsusu" (Zenless Zone Zero Rumors)** In another case, Baidu Tieba user "sijsusu" posted rumors involving *Zenless Zone Zero*, claiming "the game has been internally abandoned," "investors have withdrawn capital," etc., misleading players and causing severe damage to the company's reputation. After MiHoYo reported this, the Xuhui Police investigation found the rumor-monger to be a 22-year-old named Chang. To gain traffic, Chang repeatedly pieced together and fabricated rumors before posting them online. Ultimately, Chang was given an **administrative penalty** by the police.
**Case 3: "Hai Shen Yuan" (Use of AI for Disinformation)** Previously, MiHoYo discovered the online user "Hai Shen Yuan" and others had published over 10 fake articles slandering the company, severely damaging its reputation. MiHoYo immediately reported this to the police. After investigation, the Xuhui Police quickly apprehended the publisher, Fan, and the instigator behind the scenes, Qi. Upon interrogation, Qi admitted to writing outlines for the rumors and then **using AI to generate the articles**, after which he paid Fan to publish them. Both individuals have been placed under **criminal coercive measures** by the police on suspicion of the crime of **picking quarrels and provoking trouble**.
**Other Cases & Conclusion** Aside from the cases above, MiHoYo has also pursued accountability through administrative and civil means against multiple bloggers such as "800 Million Warriors City" and "negative" for rumor-mongering and slander. The relevant infringers have either paid compensation for losses in accordance with the law or received administrative penalties.
MiHoYo has always been committed to building a healthy and orderly community environment. We respect and welcome criticism and suggestions from players. However, regarding various malicious acts of fabricating rumors and slandering the enterprise or the player community, MiHoYo will resolutely strike back with severity. We welcome the vast number of players to provide clues regarding infringement through the official reporting email (**notice@service.mihoyo.com**). MiHoYo will work hand-in-hand with players to jointly maintain a clear and orderly online space.
**MiHoYo Legal Department** **January 5, 2026**
oldmonk_972026-01-05 06:56
1. Never like it when big corpos go after normal people
2. Very hard to prove defamation. Even if everything the posters were spreading were objectively false, if they believed it was true then there is no case for "slander/defamation"
3. Best hoyo can do is bleed them out in long court battles financially. Which is a bad precident cuz hoyo might be in the morally sound ground right now with these people but it's very easy for them to switch up against anyone using this example. This can include ex employees, ex devs etc.
4. Kinda dangerous mix here cuz da Wei is in cahoots with the ccp with the whole China soft power image. So even govt won't step in if hoyo one day says my rules now and starts going after innocent people in future.
Edit: people don't really read huh.. A neutral geopolitocal stance is getting downvoted. Our community literally is never beating the allegations 😭
RDUB278632026-01-05 07:04
Good ol Chinese communism. You’re getting downvoted because people don’t like to be reminded they’re supporting a communist regime by giving this company money.
oldmonk_972026-01-05 07:10
I mean i didn't even criticize China. I literally said the ccp da wai for soft power cuz it's true and in the open. Like animé was Japan's soft power... And imf and lending money to global south was usa's soft power.
I mean I understand with people being bombarded with info everyone views everything with a different perspective, but we really are jumping to conclusions here.
Seroves2026-01-05 08:09
I understand your point but you are too used that American business men using money to bypass laws, in China of you have business be it big or small you have no other choice but to be part of CCP because of you go against their ideology you gonna dissappear in next 48 hours. Understand this Da Wei had no choice of being part of CCP.
oldmonk_972026-01-05 08:27
Again. I am not saying it's a bad thing. People can be patriotic about their country too. Especially after how much bad press global West has done to China's image. China wanting to get a good pr isn't inherently bad. Da Wei can be patriotic and want to spread the good of his country via media. That is possible too. Idk why everyone jumps to the worst interpretation when I say the words "soft power"
Low_Artist_76632026-01-05 07:12
Dude literally everything you own is made in china.
Outside-Cookie43092026-01-05 07:05
I thinks its rightly done if it was something like a disney copyright situation or WB situation or nintendo situation it would have been like they wanna smooch money on everything but here they were spreading misinfo not criticising games and normal people can't and shan't do shit if they are normal if You murder someone and You claim to be poor is ur murder justified? No Right? Similarly they were given punishment under law law deemed them guilty of charges its not like law would take side of mihoyo so if law breaks om them its good its not like they are suing criticisers of game they are stoping misinfo and hate any company have rights to chew on it if they see fake misinfo ruining company rep
oldmonk_972026-01-05 07:08
True, I dont know how to solve it either. 🤷
Just saying this gives them grounds/lays grounds for them to potentially do heinous things in future if they want to. Not that they will or that they are bad or China is bad.
Awesome_Teo2026-01-05 07:13
I think you might be projecting a Western legal framework onto China, but the system works very differently there.
Regarding defamation and "bleeding them out":
You mentioned that defamation is hard to prove and that the company will just "bleed them out financially." That applies to US civil court, but if you look at the text, the Police are involved.
In China, defamation and spreading rumors can be a criminal offense (e.g., "Picking quarrels and provoking trouble") if it disrupts public order. This isn't MiHoYo dragging someone through expensive litigation to bankrupt them; this is the State prosecutor filing charges. The burden of proof is different, and "I believed it was true" is rarely a valid defense when you are fabricating fake screenshots or using AI to generate mass disinformation campaigns.
Regarding the "Honor and Dignity" aspect:
Asian legal systems generally treat reputation and "face" much more seriously than the US, where free speech protections are extremely broad. There are strict, codified laws against online rumors. It’s not just about "corporate feelings"; it's viewed as maintaining order in the internet space.
Regarding the Govt/CCP stance:
While the regime is authoritarian, their primary goal is social stability. The idea that the government will always blindly side with the "capitalist" isn't historically accurate in modern China. The CCP has cracked down hard on tech giants (Tencent, Alibaba, etc.) specifically to protect consumers and workers when public sentiment turns against the corps. They support MiHoYo here not because of corruption, but because rumor mills create social instability, which the government hates.
So, while I agree that big corps bullying people is bad, in this specific case, these people were arrested by the police for fabricating fake news, not sued into bankruptcy for a negative opinion.
oldmonk_972026-01-05 07:25
Agree with most of what u said.
My nuanced point was about hoyo and da Wei being in a special position given the soft power approach China is trying with video games. (they are also lending money like imf and USA, so it's only one of the tendrils of soft power)
And that though hoyo is in the right here, it gives them precident to in future do shenanigans.
We can't attach morality to a corporation, to people sure. We don't know what might happen in future, Alternatively from hoyo's perspective this can be seen as prepping a defensive maneuver or keeping a loaded gun. Cuz "just in case"
I cannot comment on the work or how lawyers in China work or what's their work ethic or dignity cuz I simply don't know. It would be wrong of me to speculate either way. It would also be wrong to think that China is so restrictive with free speech so it might crack down on the people voicing otherwise. This train of thought could also be western propaganda that has probably influenced me.
Krystial2026-01-05 07:48
Special position isn’t really accurate… your original point about da wei being in cahoots with the ccp, it isn’t something he can choose. It’s pretty much mandated that all large companies leaders be a part of. It’s not something unique to him or hoyoverse
oldmonk_972026-01-05 07:53
i guess cahoot is a harsh word here, partnership or alliance maybe? idk motivated by patriotism? u get the idea. they are working with each other for better global china image/pr.
IllustratorLast12812026-01-05 07:16
Does china not have protection against SLAPP lawsuits?
Low_Artist_76632026-01-05 07:18
All three cases involved police, lol. It's their job to prove guilt and chose appropriate punishment.
Not to mention hoyo never does copyright strikes.
Leshawkcomics2026-01-05 07:28
I wouldn’t pretend it was okay if amazon did it, i wont pretend its okay if hoyo does it,
Sure, it’s LEGAL in china, and they can justify it by saying “it hurt our reputation’
But it’s also legal in the US for cops to shoot children and justify it by saying ‘we were scared their yo-yo was a gun”
You can run defense for that all you like, it’s still wrong, regardless of legal technicalities.
Krystial2026-01-05 07:50
I’m pretty sure it’s not even hoyo doing the prosecuting…
Leshawkcomics2026-01-05 07:55
Yes. Mihoyo doesnt literally ‘own’ the legal system. Unless you’re trying to imply the multiple “Mihoyo is actively launching into rights protection actions” and “Mihoyo filed a civil lawsuit” somehow can be creatively interpreted to mean Mihoyo has absolutely no hand in the proceedings and thus is completely free from any responsibility in the civil proceedings.
Like, i was being sarcastic about people running defense, but like… REALLY?
Krystial2026-01-05 07:58
Not saying they’re not the ones pushing for it, but from what I’ve gathered, they just asked authorities to get them to stop, but it’s the state that is pressing charges
Like if say your family member got murdered, and u called the police, it won’t be u doing the prosecuting, it would be the state. Cause it’s like, an actual crime
Like here
Leshawkcomics2026-01-05 08:08
The first half of your sentence is literally contradicting the second half of your sentence. Dude. Stop and look at yourself.
Unless “From what I gathered” means “I am making this up, don’t actually go and read the article and find out its saying the exact opposite” you really need to look at why you’re going through so many mental hoops to absolve them.
Like, its a company. They dont need your support here in a random Reddit thread. They’ll be fine.
Krystial2026-01-05 08:11
I know they’ll be fine, but misinformation in general ticks me off.
The “from what I’ve gathered” is based of the translation. I used that as a disclaimer because it follows two assumptions that may not be accurate
1: that the translation is correct
2: that I understood it correctly
I’m not saying that there’s no proof, I’m saying that I’m using assumptions and that the following conclusion may be inaccurate due to said assumptions
Leshawkcomics2026-01-05 08:24
Adjusting your stockings in tenessee can get you a year in prison due to an obscure law.
A kid playing with a cactus can get life in prison in Arizona.
It may be “legal” for a company to ACTIVELY sue someone for saying mean things about them. It may be ‘technically’ a crime to say mean things about a billion dollar company, but something being legal doesn’t mean its morally correct and anyone pushing to get people put in prison over it is anything but messed up.
Literally anyone whos done any amount of history and philosophy and basic ethics can tell you that something being a crime doesn’t mean its wrong.
Many things are crimes specifically because it’s morally correct to do so. Like questioning people in power is usually criminalized because they are worth questioning
Krystial2026-01-05 08:25
Broski I think you’re mixing up civil and criminal courts

Damn, that's awfully similar to what people say over here in the west. Imagine if everyone who did defamation had to respond to Hoyo, like 90% of r/gachagaming would've been sued already lmao
Vusdruv2026-01-05 10:36
What investors even lmao. Hoyo is a privately owned company, to my understanding that means there are no investors or shareholders to please.
Nuka-Crapola2026-01-05 11:23
A company can be “privately owned” by shareholders, as long as those shares aren’t sold on public markets. However, I’m pretty sure Da Wei straight up owns 100% of HoYo, so…
wanderingmemory2026-01-05 14:09

wrong. Hoyo currently own by 3 people(dawei, cai haoyu, luo yonghao), it used to be 4 people, the last person being straight up investor who left(they probably bought the share back) recent years(2025 or 2024 dont remember)

They definitely can, Hoyo is very active in Russia, constantly running all kinds of IRL events and collaborations.
And Genshin's fanbase in particular is absolutely enormous in Russia (ZZZ and HSR never took off here much by comparison), it's definitely a very important market for them and a very juicy source of taxes for the government.
So if they'll want to, they'll have access to appropriate channels to deal with someone naughty.

Every time I see an exciting post from Genshin, I click into the comment section and it's all the same few recycled names going "Dead game" "WuWa stomps this slop" "No one will play this game once XXX comes out".
TamamoNines2026-01-05 09:45
Yo, you would be surprised with the shit under Wuwa fb official post.

Do the WuWa Facebook page managers do something about it?

How do you even keep up with it? They just keep reappearing, as numberless as ants.
notthatjaded2026-01-05 17:06
I don't look at every post, it's just whenever one catches my attention and then I'll go block whichever bots pop up in the comments.
UmbralUroboros2026-01-05 07:31
So what I'm hearing is a person can be arrested for free speech if they're a mean liar. I think that's a bit much, and personally I would be questioning what the bloggers gain from this.
My guess is the arrest has more to do with ai prohibit laws. Receiving a penalty for spreading rumors sounds more like tyranny to me.
I see. This is where I'm afraid I would not understand. Defamation from my place is treated as a civil matter. Parties can be sued, but jail or penalties don't generally happen in this circumstance.
>person can be arrested for free speech if they're a mean liar.
Lying is usually a bad thing to do
SecretSpectre112026-01-05 07:48
Libel is illegal everywhere...
Pop-girlies2026-01-05 08:10
I mean, it's not unheard of. Defamation is a crime in many places and depending on where you lived what counts as defamation legally would vary a lot. But it still is a crime depending on where you lived and probably also the extent of what you've done and the harm caused
TeriApocalypse2026-01-05 08:28
Doing nothing and letting false news fester and spread isn't the high road individuals or organisations should take. It's that kind of "If you defend yourself or speak up against it, it means you're against free speech.", but when does the "free speech" end?
Additionally, if these people have decided to fabricate lies with intent of causing damage, they should also bear the consequences of being caught. It's a whole different thing if it's more than just a silly prank.
saberjun2026-01-05 08:36
Spreading misinformation intentionally and causing bad results doesn’t need to have consequences?
Icy-Complaint31262026-01-05 09:09

CrazyFanFicFan2026-01-05 09:15

Outside of personal hatred, other people also use them as a platform to share their hate. Look at streamers who get constant superchats discussing why they hate everything Hoyo makes.

ChaZcaTriX2026-01-05 10:07
Defamation, bullying, market manipulation, etc. aren't free speech.
What the bloggers gained: controversy, views, ad revenue. Sometimes it's plausible that they're funded by a rival company.
SquishyBruiser2026-01-05 12:05
You can get sued/go to jail for defamation, libel and slander all around the world, yes.
Not long ago, some TikTok psychic tarot card reader was sued for pinning the murder of 4 students on a teacher that had nothing to do with it.
Or are you implying that I should be able to publish a bunch of articles about you specifically being some heinous monster, ruining your reputation and social life in the process, and you shouldn't be able to do anything about it as long as I didn't use AI to create the articles ?

RenShimizu2026-01-05 09:06
Not to defend these two, but getting sued for this is wild dystopian stuff.
FallenAngelII2026-01-05 09:27
People get sued for this all the time in all parts of the world. And rightfully so.
Enraw1232026-01-05 09:39
So getting sued for actual defamation is dystopian? Accusations that could legitimately destroy the company's reputation if other people werent sharp enough? Alright bro lmao
FallenAngelII2026-01-05 17:15
They probably love spreading misinformation and slandering others, so to them it's dystopian and one can get sued for it.
Sensitive-Ad-41302026-01-05 09:17
I'm really saddened by this. What's the "turn-on" these haters get from always targeting ZZZ when they want to harm Hoyo? It's my favorite game, it was my therapy for depression in 2024.
Fullpotentialk2026-01-05 09:22
CN hoyo haters puts EN to shame
I_love_my_life802026-01-06 03:10
Fandom wars and Gacha Wars are so much worse over there compared to EN that it's not even close... In twitter and reddit , people post comments and upvote/downvote or like/dislike it but over there it's just.... like an actual unemployed internet war...
You don't see the stuff going on there mainly because of the firewall...
SecretYogurtcloset572026-01-05 09:29
They should go after wuwa English CCs too!
Outside-Cookie43092026-01-05 09:50
They are not going after criticisers or haters they are going after deliberate fake misinfo being spread to ruin company rep they are not silenting the voices they are silenting lies someone can hate anything for any reason but on purpose spreading fake info and doing illegal activities to mass spread is it was deemed as guilty by law
SteamedDumplingX2026-01-05 10:24

relax i just wanna say its not worth risking ur life over a multi billion dollar company that can defend itself. i saw u on eango's stream, and u genuinely seem like a good hardworking person who makes helpful guides on many gacha games.
Spieds2026-01-05 11:12
Well, good reminder as any that taint's video to bring him views was "Hoyo monopolizes voice actors" and quite a few of people supported his narrative AND he almost started beef with one of the VAs (Cyyu aka Cyno VA) . So people like him definitely can have some grounds against them
Or like majority of "Hoyo contract does [insert fake here]" topics people spread around too
Whendfield1232026-01-05 16:42
Its not illegal to shit on games and companies. It would be illegal (probably) to fabricate malicious lies and disinformation to harm a company or a person
csdbh2026-01-05 09:49
Y'all shouldn't be happy about a billion dollar company going after small people like these...
That said, it is just so very hard to not smirk a little to see 番薯鉴赏家 got pounced in court.
zappingbluelight2026-01-05 11:54
可能漏加了个/s(反讽),但诽谤无论针对穷人还是富公司都是违法的,哈哈。他们并不是故意要当出气筒。
Rayyan_32412026-01-05 10:16
Why do you need AI to make up misinformation…like how hard is it to not be correct
SteamedDumplingX2026-01-05 10:17
Lmao 番薯好似喵.
Talking about ai generated misinfo, why does that sound so familiar to me 😋

I mean I understand with people being bombarded with info everyone views everything with a different perspective, but we really are jumping to conclusions here.
Just saying this gives them grounds/lays grounds for them to potentially do heinous things in future if they want to. Not that they will or that they are bad or China is bad.
Not to mention hoyo never does copyright strikes.
Like, i was being sarcastic about people running defense, but like… REALLY?
Like if say your family member got murdered, and u called the police, it won’t be u doing the prosecuting, it would be the state. Cause it’s like, an actual crime
Like here
Unless “From what I gathered” means “I am making this up, don’t actually go and read the article and find out its saying the exact opposite” you really need to look at why you’re going through so many mental hoops to absolve them.
Like, its a company. They dont need your support here in a random Reddit thread. They’ll be fine.
Oh redditors, lmao.
If you just lie or share something posted by someone else, sure, but if you use AI to create something supporting your lies, I don't think you can say you didn't know what you were doing.
Damn, that's awfully similar to what people say over here in the west. Imagine if everyone who did defamation had to respond to Hoyo, like 90% of r/gachagaming would've been sued already lmao
"and reinvested the money to Kuro" this guy said next in the original post.
Me after reading the second part: "Anyway how's everyone saving for Bina?"
There's always those who wants to keep fanning the flames of war. It benefits content creators to get polarised viewers. Else, some are just there for the fun of seeing communities collapse.
AKA a large portion of Hoyo gamers
Every time I see an exciting post from Genshin, I click into the comment section and it's all the same few recycled names going "Dead game" "WuWa stomps this slop" "No one will play this game once XXX comes out".
Do the WuWa Facebook page managers do something about it?
My guess is the arrest has more to do with ai prohibit laws. Receiving a penalty for spreading rumors sounds more like tyranny to me.
Lying is usually a bad thing to do
Additionally, if these people have decided to fabricate lies with intent of causing damage, they should also bear the consequences of being caught. It's a whole different thing if it's more than just a silly prank.
Outside of personal hatred, other people also use them as a platform to share their hate. Look at streamers who get constant superchats discussing why they hate everything Hoyo makes.
What the bloggers gained: controversy, views, ad revenue. Sometimes it's plausible that they're funded by a rival company.
A lot of us take the freedom we have for granted in most western countries, we have it very good comparatively.
He is also the i don’t have raiden so i subbed it for xiangling guy (edit : it was hutao not raiden)
He recently did a livestream of him melting his account because he checked with account sellers and his account was very cheap
A lot of mihoyo haters used it as a place to superchat and basically support him and spread hate
He ended it with a hilarious declaration of never playing genshin ever again and said he will stop playing starrail after 异环 comes out and to never again play a mihoyo game
He won’t be melting his starrail account (doubt) because he said if you don’t pull for characters for 3 months your account is bricked already
You don't see the stuff going on there mainly because of the firewall...
