I hope no one does this. Genshin_lore has a dedicated leaked lore megathread for that reason.
But to answer your question, it lets you see future lineups for Styigian, Abyss chambers and Imaginarium Theater, including HP numbers, resistance, etc.
People use this info to plan ahead for their character builds, future pulls and artifact grinding.
For example, before she came out, you could decide to grind Codex for Varesa or if you know about the plunge set you would save your resin to do something else and grind the set's domain once it comes out.
Another recent example is Durin or Flins teams getting a better artifact set next patch. Iirc, Flins prefers having Ineffa on the leaked set and Columbina on SMS.
Then of course with Imaginarium Theater you could get started early building the right characters for a given season's requirements.

I mean, morality of it aside, leaks can be very obviously helpful. It's a gatcha game, future banner info alone can help you plan ahead your pull strategy. It's fair to not like the fact that they exist but questioning their usefulness is bit crazy.
