I’ve been playing Genshin for about a year now, and after seeing countless team comps and party setups, one thing always stands out—there’s almost always a Furina in a Neuvillette team. Purely in terms of compatibility, synergy, and gameplay, I honestly don’t think any other duo in the game complements each other as perfectly as these two loveables from Fontaine.

Mav is much less dependent on Citlali and Xilonen than the above examples since she has a whole other meta team that doesn't depend on them (Overload with Chev Iansan, etc.). Not to mention her uses as a subdps supporting characters like Mualani or Varesa as well.

For the above examples... try to use the niche DPS character without their dedicated support and their effectiveness drop off a cliff. Nefer feels the worst of all since Lauma is so ridiculously strong that most of Nefer's damage has to be heavily balanced around Lauma.

We already do, and HYV went double up on it. Nowadays a unit feels like day and night different with/without their respective pair.

Nefer who? Lauma is a hyperbloom buff. Seriously tho, Lauma hyperbloom carried my ass in sooooo many SO, she's definitely not stuck to Nefer. But i dunno if Nefer is stuck to Lauma since i don't have her.

She pretty much is no one else can work with her as much as lauma no lauma is severe hindrance coming from laumaless player here. Way more difficult to do. Lauma dont need her on the other hand

5* supports fare better than the DPS they are paired with, alone.

Lauma without Nefer works better than Nefer without Lauma.

Same for Ineffa/Flins and Escoffier/Skirk.

Citlali/Mavuika might just be the only exception and that's only because Mav can also work as a sub-DPS/support herself. That's not to say Citlali doesn't have teams outside of Mavuika, because Arlecchino and Gaming (to name a few) would beg to differ.

I'm excluding Emilie because she doesn't have support capabilities other than reducing Burning damage.

technically flins and nefer shouldn't be played without ineffa and lauma respectfully. idk if we'll ever get a yin-yang type combo again tho, since no one's really set up for it rn. maybe zibai? but she's not really missing anything other than a lauma tier support

What type of question is this 😭? This is the most common design choice hoyo makes for all of their games all the time, Characters are tailor made for each other have you ever tried playing Nefer without lauma or Skirk without Escoffier

Also Neuvilette has a passive that is literally anti synergytic with furina lol

OP did literally mention gameplay in the post, but they probably did mean a pair that works well together in every regard and imo there isn't anyone who really matches these two.

Be it story wise, gameplay wise (they actually complement each other instead of just the support buffing the DPS, ie Neuvi is the only DPS that can max out Furina's buff on his own with such ease + Hydro resonance) or design wise (in this regard particularly, i'm not sure if there's even anyone to compare, since the designs of pairs like Nefer/Lauma, Flins/Ineffa or Mavuika/Citlali have little to nothing in common).

Yes we already have many pairs like that and we are bound to get many more soon.

Even pre-Fontaine, we already had pairs like Ayaka-Shenhe, Alhaitham-Nahida, Bennett-Xiangling, Raiden-Sara, Itto-Gorou, Xiao/Wanderer-Faruzan, etc. Nowadays, carries are much more reliant on their “pair” to achieve peak damage (like Nefer-Lauma), but synergistic pairs have always been a pattern with the game in general.

In terms of gameplay, I think we already do? Lauma + Nefer, Escoffier + Skirk, Ineffa + Flins are all combos where the support is basically tailor-made for the main DPS
