Recommended 5-star weapons

There are a lot of 5-star characters out there who don't need their 5-star signature weapon at all.

Generally speaking for all characters, are there any 5-star weapons that are highly recommended for their character? Or maybe are there any 5-star weapons that make their character so much better in combat that you basically absolutely need it?

You don't "absolutely need" any of them but some have a greater lead over their 2nd best than others, like Emilie's sig.

There's usually a 4-star weapon which is perfectly fine as a substitute.

In general though, the DPS who scale with Def, HP, or EM (e.g. Itto, Yelan, Nefer) want their weapons the most. Generalist 4-star or permanent pool 5-star options don't completely sacrifice base ATK stats for absurd secondary stats (usually crit) like their personal 5-star weapons do.

The lower a weapon's base ATK stat, the higher it's secondary stats is, after all (compared to others of the same rarity).

ATK scalers can just use a generic weapon and be near equivalent. Especially if including BP pass or permanent pool 5-star weapons.

At best they're 20% dps increases for main dps. Pull long enough and you'll get enough 4*s of value from the character banner that you don't need them unless you just really want them.

For their own character, usually DPSes benefit the most from it because the weapon tends to be tailor-made for them, and perfectly buffs all their damage-output stats.

For other characters, usually support weapons are pretty decent but not always. Stats will be the deciding factor. Ineffa has a good generic support polearm, Hu Tao has a good generic DPS weapon.

Then you have characters where the weapon is something you actively don't want to get, at least not without other things first. Furina, for example, does not want her weapon until she is at least C4 because she will suffer from ER problems, and the weapon is mostly here for her sub/main DPS roles and not her support role, which C1 through C3 significantly improve.

No character has a "mandatory" signature though.

The most important weapons in this game are the fav ones.

Better to focus on getting actual characters instead of their weapons, none are really needed and there should always be alternative options that are just as good too
