Is Dottore an expy of Otto Apocalypse from hi3?

for starters, Dottore’s name literally has Otto in it (D-otto-re)

And Dottore’s new boss form is literally called False God (of the Moon)

I cant be crazy right?? Theres probably more similarities too if I dug deeper

Short answer: Maybe.
Long answer: Hoyoverse have tendency to connect characters from other universes into the games. Last I heard, GIs Teyvat is one of the branches of Imaginary Tree.

By design he closer to Memorial Arena's Vita

When hoyo has done expies they have made them very similar in design ,like borderline copy. Anything else could be a reference or derived from the same concepts.

Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-06 14:48

Like Cyrene?

Plenty_Lime5242026-01-06 14:57

I wasnt the one who said it.

Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-06 15:02

Yeah I was just asking

Illusive_Sheikah2026-01-06 14:49

Yeah i just realized expy was the wrong word mb

Akikala2026-01-06 14:37

No.

Could Otto have been the inspiration for him? ...maybe?

An Expy? No, the only thing their designs have in common is that they're males lol.

Illusive_Sheikah2026-01-06 14:49

Sorry expy was the wrong word, more of reference/inspired

RevolutionaryFall1022026-01-06 14:45

No.

KaiserNazrin2026-01-06 14:48

An expy should be obvious. They don't even share the same hair color.

Apostlethe13th2026-01-06 14:50

Stop it. Let HI3 die. It had its time and even genshin itself is steering clear from nostalgia baiting hyperion captains unlike HSR. I used to wish this back when genshin launched but now I really hope the tsaritsa is not a Bronya expy.

Illusive_Sheikah2026-01-06 14:54

I dont want genshin to keep nostalgia baiting and i want it to stay separate of the honkai universes

But I also dont want Hi3 to die completely its still a pretty good game 💔

I also just thought the dottore stuff was oddly coincidental

Apostlethe13th2026-01-06 21:55

You either die a classic or you keep expanding long enough to see yourself become the MCU.

Akikala2026-01-06 15:06

It's not really "nostalgia baiting" (90%+ of genshin players have never touched HI3), it's references to their old characters who they presumably like quite a bit themselves.

Illusive_Sheikah2026-01-06 14:51

NOT EXPY JUST REFERENCING/INSPIRED

I gotta sleep so i cant defend myself anymore but lesson learned NEVER slip up and accidentally use the word “expy” wrong accidentally bcz u were lazy or you WILL be torn to shreds 😭😭

Awkward-Surprise2026-01-06 15:57

Nah, you aren't sleeping tonight. Get your keyboard ready to fight to dead for the float that is about to come hahahahah.

Shahadem2026-01-06 16:05

Yes.

ArvingNightwalker2026-01-06 16:08

The one I've heard is that he's potentially related to Zandar from HSR.

I do not see anything remotely Otto about Dottore.

Lakiel032026-01-06 20:13

Did you k ow what a expy is really ? Because is 100% not the same character.
