They probably won't, but I'd love to see the older compasses get updated. I'm never finishing Sumeru's huge ass desert w/o it.
AffectionateGrape1842026-01-06 15:39
I love just using it and it points IN THE GROUND
And there's like 10 layers of caves below with 1 waypoint at the entrance, no thank you

HorribleDat2026-01-06 18:34
There's at least 1 chest in jungle part of Sumeru I have not found because the compass point to underground and when I go underground it point even further down...it's probably one of those isolated underground bit that need the teleporter to access but I'm too lazy to go find them at this point.
ResurgentClusterfuck2026-01-06 21:09
Probably Aranara song cave
Gawr_Ganyu2026-01-06 20:40
Honestly love the desert for that. The stone tablet with the permissions and cave systems was one of my favourite exploration mechanics in Genshin.
ResurgentClusterfuck2026-01-06 21:09

I think it’s a realistic possibility, honestly
Tschmelz2026-01-06 16:12
That’s why I followed a guide lol. Couldn’t imagine trying to complete Sumeru without it.

Seriously though, I imagine that took months.
Relevant-Rub28162026-01-06 17:01
I did with no guide too. I put it off till 5.5, then when I had nothing to do, I spammed sumeru compass, kept running around and eventually 100% everything. Though I definitely did not find every chest. I will not try to either, it is hell.
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-06 17:10
Not really? It took me like a week to 100%.
Only annoying part of Sumeru was aranara and time gated stuff ngl
Aranara's ending was good but god I hated doing sameish quest of "Go X place talk to X nara/Guy go back" and repeat this cycle for 6 times.
Ghurty12026-01-06 17:12
i didnt find sumeru to be too difficult compass in hand
Ok_Tie_14282026-01-06 17:02
Probably the only guy who enjoyed the mazes here, I still just randomly go inside and try to sketch out the routes inside the pyramids lol can keep me engaged for hours.
Meme-San_2026-01-06 20:01
Ya same I used the interactive map to get so much stuff but tabbing in and out between the map and the game every time I collected, something was really annoying, which is why I was really happy with the nod krai compas because instead of having to check every box I could just keep playing because it was in the game itself
Dracoblackheart2026-01-06 16:24
The old compasses have been getting upgraded over time(they currently show the nearest chest/challenge/ Seelie/ mora box on the map and which layer it is plus they automatically switch to the correct region).
it’s not impossible for them to be updated to further to match Nod Krai
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-06 16:37
They probably can idk if it would be that hard for them to do either.
spiderrito2026-01-06 19:32
Compass in Fontaine missing mora boxes next to me all the time
furudoerika862026-01-07 02:31
they don't show mora boxes if you're <90% exploration progress
ThatOstrichGuy2026-01-06 17:04
I am coping that if/when we get updates to the old regions it gives us the new compass. Seems like it could be a challenge to just drop it in to an old region, but if you are doing some type of expansion already its a good time to add it.
Cocoatrice2026-01-06 17:33
There is really no reason for them to not do that. But I guess, they would have to slightly change the code for it. Not sure how much work it is.
Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo2026-01-06 17:37
I'm not sure how much work it is either, but I know games run on magic half the time and if the compasses worked **well enough** for multiple years, patching them to be 100% accurate probably isn't a priority or concern of theirs.
balagi2026-01-06 17:39
I'm waiting for a Dragonspine compass. It's sitting at 93% right now. I don't care that they made up a lore reason for it to not work, they can come up with a reason to make it work too.
PassionateJessica2026-01-06 17:44
honestly i completely skipped the 3.0 areas because of how massive it is, it felt like a chore exploring it ngl. loved the archon quest tho, it was always a treat.
AppUnwrapper12026-01-06 18:15
I keep trying to find stuff I missed in Natlan bc some areas are like 96-97%. But all I find are annoying challenges and since I keep pushing those off, the compass isn’t showing me anything else. 😞
Dry-Intern5192026-01-06 18:31
It’s Liyue I’m dreading going back to. I have a feeling it’s the hidden chests that I’ve missed. Considering I didn’t use the interactive map to mark them off I have zero clue which ones I missed.
TheSpirit2k2026-01-06 19:03
If it weren’t for the exploration events that gives you primos I wouldn’t bother either since the movement in this game has always been clunky af, the stamina system is outdated and I don’t like switching my favorite team just to move faster.
Hoyo should just let us use the wings to fly across the map like WuWa.
2311MEGATON_YT2026-01-06 19:20
Adding wings would break the immersion for current map structures. Even WuWa had to change their world structure style after adding wings and bikes!? What
Hojuma2026-01-06 19:04
Only yesterday did I realize I haven't explored the area on the intersection of Liyue mainland, Chenyu Vale, and Sumeru. I got like 10+ chests there.
I honestly still prefer the original "weak" compass when I'm exploring new areas but I do like the NK upgraded compass for completion on the last 5%, maybe even 2% on the region. If older compasses get upgraded, I do hope there's an option to disable it, or at least delay upgrading it.
curious_human212026-01-06 19:19
What are the differences in the compasses of nod krai and others? I just completed (97%+) Inazuma map after the archon quest with the compass.
ResurgentClusterfuck2026-01-06 21:12
It shows more stuff depending on your exploration level
Important-Owl-3732026-01-06 21:51
when its maxxed its basically like having the teyvat interactive map up
Meme-San_2026-01-06 19:58
Honestly, I feel like it would be weird if they didn’t at some point
It’s such a good quality of life and has so far been received really well That it just feels like a no-brainer too Eventually update the old compasses to work similarly
I don’t know how they would implement it like maybe extra reputation quests in the nations or maybe compass upgrades as a reward for nod krai seals but I feel like there’s a pretty high chance that we would get it at some point
ResurgentClusterfuck2026-01-06 21:08
Then maybe I could find the like 8 Aranara I'm missing (no. I will not be following a video guide, my brain doesn't follow those well)
aqbac2026-01-06 23:15
I just wonder how they would. Right now the compass works on a subregion percent completion basis and you get it right away. Do you fully copy that. If so ranks 8 and 9 of old reputation now have no reward. Do you still give the compass at 8 and oculo at 9 but now the oculos locator is no longer a one time use. I think they want to balance qol and not making previous effort pointless
DuncanTang2026-01-06 23:40

Gray_Tower2026-01-06 16:12
Man, I tried to go back to Sumeru to finally 100% the map and holy shit, old exploration is ass when you're at like 97% 💀 the new compass is a godsend and it being available in all regions is the change I wanna see the most
clouddog-1112026-01-06 17:13

Shotamancer2026-01-06 16:38
This compass is one of the biggest reasons why my NK experience is so pleasant unlike in previous regions (except for you Fontaine, you’re still the best in my heart.)
Adventurous_Bother192026-01-06 18:09
fontaine is so good that messing up doesn't even matter. or you make the exploration pleasant with a good compass, or you make a region so well designed and cool that ppl doesn't mind exploring it
StarJake202026-01-06 16:51
Currently I’m farming treasures and I’m doing Fontaine without the compass. Having gotten Mondstadt to Sumeru each nation makes it harder and harder to look for treasures and puzzles and I remember how much easy Nod Krai was to complete (albeit the objective to earn primogems motivated me to do it). But yes, I do hope in the future the compasses are upgraded because as a mostly F2P, the treasures earn me lots of primos from just discovering them but also using the sigils.
crm0062026-01-06 18:03
I agree completely but part of me likes not being able to know where EVERY SINGLE ONE is. I don’t have any motivation to explore Nod Krai anymore knowing there isn’t any loot really.
Meme-San_2026-01-06 20:02
I mean the compass is completely optional so you don’t really have to use it if you want to explore everything naturally and still feel like there’s more to explore
crm0062026-01-06 20:18
Temptation- the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.
KrzyDankus2026-01-06 16:52
i kinda dislike the compass, since it ruins all exploration hence why i don't use it, but it's a nice option for people who don't enjoy exploring that much.
String_Of_Death2026-01-06 16:52
Nod-krai is the only region I will ever have maxed
Magpie_03092026-01-06 16:57
I'm missing only ONE stupid chest in Tsurumi and Dragonspine. (For the other places it's more) The only place I completely finished before Nodkrai was Mondstadt.
karillith2026-01-06 18:34
One as in "I'm at 99% exploration" or one as in "I checked exactly how many chests there is in the area and I have only one left"?
Because if it's the former, you're certainly missing more than that.
Lorellya2026-01-06 17:06
Maybe unpopular opinion, but this compass is a terrible addition and bad sign of things to come.
It COMPLETELY trivialized the actual main draw of exploration, the exploration.
EducationalTill26812026-01-06 17:11
Not true, it made exploration enjoyable and people dont feel stuck anymore. Didnt explore since sumeru cause I felt stuck and didnt know how to explore efficiently. Nod krai Compass helped a lot
Lorellya2026-01-06 17:58
"explore"
BillysTown2026-01-06 17:12
I heavily disagree as this unlocks very late into exploration for NK exploration. And just points out the remaining things you’ve probably missed and you don’t have to use it. I enjoy exploration and when I feel like I’ve got everything I use this to finish off the parts I’ve missed
Lunar_Lunatics2026-01-06 17:22
At that point of the game the novelty and spectacle of genshin you get is worn off by then, and its just the same as A normal treasure compass(minus oculi a small part of the game) till like 80%
gameboy2242026-01-06 18:49
100% with you on that. I like the middle upgrades that do ease exploration, but that last upgrade is way too powerful for 90% exploration.
JrButton2026-01-06 21:37
You couldn't be more wrong. Exaggerating in an attempt to stand apart is cringy btw.
It unlocks after you've practically done 1-2 passes over the sub region and requires a mini quest completion too... this is not something that trivializes much of anything.
Definitely doesn't "COMPLETELY" trivialize it.
beautheschmo2026-01-07 11:13
it is insanely disheartening to see this at 10 upvotes while everyone wanting it to be added to every region is getting hundreds.
i think making the compass this strong (even the level 2 version) is genuinely damaging to the game and how the devs treat the design and process of exploration just so gacha addicts can feel better about getting the like 50 extra primos that they would have missed with the old compass.
The one and only thing i like about it is that it points to oculi instead of needing to farm up a consumable to do so.
CoconutxKitten2026-01-06 17:09
The treasure compasses are so frustrating in other regions
The range feels SO small. Especially for Sumeru
BillysTown2026-01-06 17:11
Honestly its so good , it shows basically everything and looking back on past regions I probably have so many hidden chests even though Im at 100% for them all. They should add that function for all past Treasure Compasses
Ghurty12026-01-06 17:11
I just went back and did liyue since that was the last region i didnt 100% before i made a habit of it. Truly miserable experience. Hopefully mondstadt is easier just based on size
gameboy2242026-01-06 17:13
Ngl, there is a part of me that doesn't like it just shows everything at 90%. Kind of kills the fun of combing the map too early.
I wished it revealed everything when we already hit the fake 100% instead as a final clean up.
MNUUUUU2026-01-06 17:36
I assume you like seeing the message of the treasure compass saying it hasn't found anything because I mainly like the Nod Krai compass because it finally pushed me to complete the region instead of leaving it at 80-90% because the compass doesn't detect anything further than 5 meters apparently.
Also, I know this is personal, but the fact that everything would be revealed if I got enough exploration was a very good motivator for me to explore the region and interact with its mechanics (and other quality of life stuff like marking multiple chests instead of 1 at a time).
gameboy2242026-01-06 17:48
The prospect that I know I'm missing a fair amount of chests (knowing that 100% isn't truly 100%), and sitting in the high 90% is a good motivator to scour remote corners I may have overlooked otherwise and discover what off the beaten path nook or cranny they decided to hide it in.
I do like the other improvements they made for the compass, showing multiple chests within its detection radius, including challenges and mora boxes, maybe even a larger detection radius. But just showing everything at once, it kills the hunt when they give us that power so easily.
That isn't exploration, that's a checklist.
I only find issue because 90% is not hard to get without going too far off the beaten path. Which is why I'd prefer they hold off revealing everything till you hit the fake 100%, because there are still leftover chests even when you hit 100%.
Adventurous_Bother192026-01-06 17:40
so dont use it?
Kingpimpy2026-01-06 17:44
stuff gambling addicts say that actually dont care about the games main gameplay
Adventurous_Bother192026-01-06 17:55
yeah, the main mechanic of the game, going back and forth with a compass that doesn't show you anything, searching the same areas all over again, just to find a bunch of rocks, get 100% and act like there's no other chest there, so you don't need to search more. that's not a cool thing. not wanting to spend a day walking on the map for nothing doesn't mean someone is an gambling addict, just means QOL updates matter, hence almost everyone agrees the new compass is way better. having to explore 90% alone makes you want to explore, taking your pace without fear of losing anything, the way it is now, you have 2 choices, use a guide and take everything, what is barely playing, or go alone with the compass, take a lot of time and still risking not getting everything. saying one should fake 100% so the compass shows everything is nonsense, as getting the fake 100% IS the problem everyone is talking about there, how it was hard, demanding you to go back and forth with a compass that barely works. at 90%, there's only some pocket change that barely gives you anything, it's not for the gems anymore, it's for completion.
gameboy2242026-01-06 17:57
There's a difference between a compass that helps you in your search, vs one that just gives up and tells you everything.
Adventurous_Bother192026-01-06 18:05
the thing is, you have to do the puzzles, the fights, go to the chest location, follow the seelie or the compass does it for you? you crack the puzzle, they give you the chest. if it was not for you to find, they would just put it outside the map. there's no logic on making exploration frustrating, that's just bad design. a game should be fun tbh, and guess what, just with this post comments you can tell ppl liked it way more the way they did it now, requesting changes on the older compasses too
gameboy2242026-01-06 18:26
And the search is part of that gameplay loop, we're playing an OPEN WORLD GAME, scouring every corner of the world for tiny trinkets is literally the point of the format.
Not my fault gacha gamers are some of the most anti-gameplay people out there.
Adventurous_Bother192026-01-06 18:33
at this point just delete the entire compass and mission highlights thing. it's a open world game after all, we should just walk and scour for every trinket of the world, as that's literally the point of the format.
gameboy2242026-01-06 18:36
Talk about a false representation of the argument.
I reiterate,
>There's a difference between a compass that helps you in your search, vs one that just gives up and tells you everything.
Not even that I necessarily disagree with there being a tool that helps you clean up the leftovers, just 90% is so easy to reach for the game to just immediately give you the cheat sheet.
Adventurous_Bother192026-01-06 18:42
if it was this easy, no one would be complaining and saying it is bad, that's the whole point of the conversation, plus, if you can't understand a simple thing, there's no point of talking here anymore, "you win, compass bad, me gacha addict, fuck it atp".
Kokolemo2026-01-06 20:34
I feel like the compass could do it for you and deliver all the treasures to you in one screen and people here would still celebrate its efficiency.

All these updates on compass, and Mondstadt one still cant be used on Dragonspine... Like cmon, Dormann Port is coming, update this thing right now
karillith2026-01-06 17:30
TBH imo they're a little too powerful, I usually don't use it before 95% completion, and sometimes what I want is a little hint (yes I did enjoy the dowsing system), not necessarily the whole blueprint laid bare. It's comfortable but also so strong that I will likely never revisit Nod krai and stumble into puzzles or chest I missed which was a particular delight to me (and yeah, I did find a couple in Inazuma just yesterday)
Although I believe there are still a few chests that the super moon compass doesn't reveal?
Cocoatrice2026-01-06 17:33
I mean, I am 100%'ing every region and I don't need compass for that. Yes, I know there are leftover chests and stuff. But that's the *only* thing that the omni-compass is good for. Not to 100% the region, but to take literally every single chest in existence. I 100% all three Nod-Krai maps (I think one or two were actually 99%), before I even started Archon Quest. I missed only two oculi. One near Herra, where I could swear I checked and another one in Columbina's cave, which I couldn't enter anyway. I will 100% the new map before I use compass, too. Compass is just nice QoL that lets you not tryhard, because if you miss something, you still will get it. That's nice thing.
I wish all the past regions got upgrade for their compasses and the compasses were not gatekept behind reputation. That way I would be able to get the stuff on my alt accounts, where I don't explore the map that much.
Frigid-Kev2026-01-06 18:00
A reminder that Mondstadt compass doesn't work in Dragonspine, while Liyue works with Chasm and Inazuma works with Enkanomiya
Dry-Intern5192026-01-06 18:35
Depending on the region I have around 4 to 17ish chests missing. I’m dreading going back to find them.
Lukas24012026-01-07 13:00
There are five or six regions where I'm missing a single chest each (and I marked everything on the interactive map already -.-' ). I'm dreading having to scour the whole region for that single chest...
Dry-Intern5192026-01-07 14:45
Oh god. Yeah I know that feeling. I’ve got The Chasm, Chenyu Vale & Watatsumi or Seirai where I’m missing just one chest. Not looking forward to hunting for it.
Notkiller2026-01-06 18:41
I have got 100% on map in Mondstadt. Liyue, Inazuma, Enkanomiya and Chasm. Without using any guides so I am missing A LOT.
According to the internet I am missing about 600 Chests even when my whole world shows 100%
I wish they updated the compass..
SHIN-YOKU2026-01-06 18:57

goosegod022026-01-06 18:59

Sentinel102026-01-06 19:45
I would definitely consider going back to other nations if they updated the old ones.
SectorApprehensive582026-01-06 19:54
The new compass is practically the answer key at the back of the book
Consistent-Film-10562026-01-06 20:28
If just other regions have the new compass , at least after 90% everything showed in the map will be so helpful
Aggressive_Yak70942026-01-06 20:35
Its great. My nitpick is that now I wont have Resonance stones from all the nations. I will always have one less resonance stone( if its a NK think) or only have 5 resonance stones. My collection will be forever incomplete.
Dry_Commission61272026-01-06 22:55
I need this type compass in every region 😫
sixn62026-01-06 23:04

Mazza_mistake2026-01-06 23:53

Bakkstory2026-01-07 00:36

Strikebackk2026-01-07 01:38

KeyMore94222026-01-07 01:57
they had better update it for other regions, it would be really nice, even if you had to have like x% to get or smth.
DRGXIII2026-01-07 02:33
Can I be honest, for real hot take here. I prefer older compass style. The new compass is just too easy, I miss just wondering around a region not knowing if a chest is just around the corner. I would go to random spots in a nation and walk around spanning the compass to see if anything is near. Now it's unlock the compass, oop you found everything now, no more reason to just explore around.
lazykryptonian2026-01-07 03:51
It'd be nice to have the option to use either style because I also prefer the older one.
skylar_walker2026-01-07 03:41
while I love the new compass in Nod Krai (I just finished 100%ing the islands we have there today), for the older regions I just follow a "this is where all the chests are" video and go chest to chest until I have them all. works like a charm. I get that some people really like exploring everything themselves, and I do put a solid attempt at solving puzzles myself first, but once all the world quests are done and I'm at like 80%, I just wanna clean up the rest
PhilledZone2026-01-07 03:59
They combined the oculus thingy with the compass, they finally track everything that counts towards completion, you still have to explore without it to upgrade/unlock it. It's literally perfect imo
184134342026-01-07 04:16
It makes exploration so much easier. Which would have been a good thing, if it weren't for them to not expand the map for 2 whole versions. I got my map to 100 way to fast and had nothing to do for months😔
bob_is_best2026-01-07 04:37

Aranara's ending was good but god I hated doing sameish quest of "Go X place talk to X nara/Guy go back" and repeat this cycle for 6 times.
it’s not impossible for them to be updated to further to match Nod Krai
Hoyo should just let us use the wings to fly across the map like WuWa.
I honestly still prefer the original "weak" compass when I'm exploring new areas but I do like the NK upgraded compass for completion on the last 5%, maybe even 2% on the region. If older compasses get upgraded, I do hope there's an option to disable it, or at least delay upgrading it.
It’s such a good quality of life and has so far been received really well That it just feels like a no-brainer too Eventually update the old compasses to work similarly
I don’t know how they would implement it like maybe extra reputation quests in the nations or maybe compass upgrades as a reward for nod krai seals but I feel like there’s a pretty high chance that we would get it at some point
p.s. well agreed regarding the darn huge ass desert
Fraudstia did NOT bestow ts 😭✌️
Just got war flashbacks, omg bruh 😭 don't get me wrong, I love exploring, but those first few regions could be ROUGH
Because if it's the former, you're certainly missing more than that.
It COMPLETELY trivialized the actual main draw of exploration, the exploration.
It unlocks after you've practically done 1-2 passes over the sub region and requires a mini quest completion too... this is not something that trivializes much of anything.
Definitely doesn't "COMPLETELY" trivialize it.
i think making the compass this strong (even the level 2 version) is genuinely damaging to the game and how the devs treat the design and process of exploration just so gacha addicts can feel better about getting the like 50 extra primos that they would have missed with the old compass.
The one and only thing i like about it is that it points to oculi instead of needing to farm up a consumable to do so.
The range feels SO small. Especially for Sumeru
I wished it revealed everything when we already hit the fake 100% instead as a final clean up.
Also, I know this is personal, but the fact that everything would be revealed if I got enough exploration was a very good motivator for me to explore the region and interact with its mechanics (and other quality of life stuff like marking multiple chests instead of 1 at a time).
Not my fault gacha gamers are some of the most anti-gameplay people out there.
I reiterate,
>There's a difference between a compass that helps you in your search, vs one that just gives up and tells you everything.
Not even that I necessarily disagree with there being a tool that helps you clean up the leftovers, just 90% is so easy to reach for the game to just immediately give you the cheat sheet.
i also think the other 2 tiers are shit and just let you spam collect stuff
You activated my trap card! Map Genie!
Although I believe there are still a few chests that the super moon compass doesn't reveal?
I wish all the past regions got upgrade for their compasses and the compasses were not gatekept behind reputation. That way I would be able to get the stuff on my alt accounts, where I don't explore the map that much.
According to the internet I am missing about 600 Chests even when my whole world shows 100%
I wish they updated the compass..
