I don’t know why, but I’m ashamed to do co-op events. I feel like if I do something wrong, I’ll get laughed at. For example, at the hide-and-seek event, I never did it. Now my friends are encouraging me to do it, but I don’t know.
Nobody cares, they are so short that people go from on to the other without much thinking and/or commenting. And you would be surprised how embarassingly people often perform. You could AFK all of them and probably nobody would even notice.
MaliqmkLobster2026-01-06 17:27
Yeah, they're pretty forgettable.
Zohgho2026-01-06 17:21
I'm the same way, but I did Snowtrace on the very last day. It's so short that it's not a problem. Also, I've seen the skill level of the average player. If you're not good at it, you're probably in line with a lot of people.
AlaindeshoGT2026-01-06 17:21
Like who cares? Don't worry about that.
Just have fun
MofoPro2026-01-06 17:22
Why would anyone even care ?
You can literally just stand there and get caught and still get the points , you play with strangers you will never meet
The_happiness_true2026-01-06 17:26
Look, treat it like other people are just bots. Most of them won't even use the chat in the first place, so don't worry too much
Saiyeh2026-01-07 05:56
I do this too. Doesn't work as well for the hide and seek one, but for the rest I just pretend it's computer controlled accounts.
Still hate forced co-op events but helps put some of the stress away.
Winter-Walk-70682026-01-06 17:28
i can confidently say no one really cares about these kinds of things. Unless youre playing with friends, these people wont even remember you the next match they load into. besides you getting caught does not actively hurt their chance of winning or them getting rewards so they have no reason to care and more likely than not, they dont care.
Peak11242026-01-06 17:29
Nobody cares. They’re most likely either friends you’re playing with or random people doing it for the rewards and not touching it again.
AlaindeshoGT2026-01-06 17:31
Play good: lot's of friend's requests
It's not even that hard. I wasn't even trying
SanicHegehag2026-01-06 17:31
This is one of those times you just have to jump into the pool.
Will you "make a mistake" in coop? Sure.
Will everyone else? Absolutely.
Will people say anything? Almost certainly not.
Why? Because most people aren't even paying attention, and those who are don't care as much as you think they do.
Now, there are some people who criticize the most random things, but that's just a reflection of their own mental issues.
OkExtension72892026-01-06 17:32
Would you laugh at others if they made mistakes in the game?
I can understand your feeling. Today it is way too common in social media to get immediately crushed after making a mistake. Not even big ones are needed for that. No wonder it has made an impact on lot of young ones these days, making it even more difficult to try something you are already struggling. But hear me, this is safe way to practise. Try it, make mistakes, be a little embarrassed, cope with it and try again. And through that, you will also have fun.
AlaindeshoGT2026-01-06 17:39
Some people may do that, but you just can't collapse and shut down for that.
Need to grow a thicker skin
Noir19902026-01-06 17:33
Sometimes I just afk in these events. It's not about being competetive. Most people join to get their primos. Worst case you have to do 6-8 rounds instead of 4-5.
zappingbluelight2026-01-06 17:37
Think of it like this. You play with these 3 people, who you will probably never see again, even if you see them again, no one remember name. Don't be scared, feel free to dip your toe and try it. :)
Pop-girlies2026-01-06 17:47
Trust me when I say that people don't care what you do. You don't even remember the character the last person you matched with used, much less what they did
AlectoStars2026-01-06 17:55
The only time I serioudly cared what someone else was doing in co-op was when I noticed they brought a c6 Skirk to a combat event. I immediately friended them and their characters have carried me through Imaginarium more than once.
Otherwise it literally does not matter, we're just all there for the primos
Excellent-Bed35442026-01-06 18:03
My friend, this is Genshin. We don't have the WoW-mentality over here, you're safe.
hyschara3042026-01-07 09:17
Apparently NA coop is pretty toxic. Genshin isnt that safe from judgemental players.
ASIA is just safe because there's people speaking different language from you that most dont even try to chat
brliron2026-01-07 11:49
Europe has the same different language thing most of the time.
Joyous_Tropical_172026-01-10 01:46
I play on Asia server, but I don't see anyone "judgemental"? I can read some of their messages, none of them are judging anything. and I played a lot of co op (I was scared at first too), it seemed just fine.
hyschara3042026-01-10 02:12
Yeah i feel like it's rare in Asia but i did have two bad experience of horribly rude people.
One of them complained when someone decided to use a non-meta character at a domain (i know there are times when whole teams can wipe repeatedly during weekly bosses but this domain was ass, we might take longer but we wouldn't wipe)
They ended up refusing to leave the domain and having a meltdown cursing everyone out. I had to teach the poor host to use the serenitea pot to force kick everyone out 😅
Most people on Asia server remain mute and talk in stickers, but best believe we still have some rare assholes here 😅
Joyous_Tropical_172026-01-10 02:42
gasp...man, that's rough XD glad I never saw anyone like that...Everyone I saw in normal co op was just being nice, some of them helped me, some I followed around, some told me I had to be AR45 for consistent 5 star artifacts (😭I just wanted to finish my 4 piece crimson witch of flames, I didn't care if it was 5 star, but I think they were trying to be nice???), and some I helped. But that kinda person you just mentioned- I get scared thinking about it 🤣
oh and in snowtrace, I kept getting caught but still managed to do a lot. once, I climbed up a mountain but still got caught hahaha. It's ending, I'm both happy and sad (happy I don't have to do more, sad I can't try out the things I thought of to evade the hunters)
hyschara3042026-01-10 03:15
In snowtrace i just hate if i'm the hunter cos then i actually gotta work lol
as a rebel i don't mind getting found early anymore cos we get to run around freely and (recently) put down dummies to annoy the hunters
If you happen to co-op with someone infuriating just try to leave as early as you can. If they're in your world, just go in the serenitea pot and they'll be forced out. Arguing with them is honestly a waste of time, cos no one thinks they're wrong and you're here to play, not to be someone's therapist lol
My blocklist is also a handful at this point because i decide early what behavior i dont want to encounter again, so remember blocklist is a thing too.
Joyous_Tropical_172026-01-11 01:12
yep I also like being the rebel because I can...be nervous? well, at least I can put down little props to prank the hunter. being the hunter, getting pranked by the dead rebels and SOMEHOW NOT CATCHING an Aino I found running around!!!!! what sorcery is this (I think I was a hunter a grand total of 1 time hahaha). I also don't have serenitea pot :) because I don't have time to finish Liyue archon quest. but good to know thanks :3
kiero132026-01-11 05:19
>and SOMEHOW NOT CATCHING an Aino I found running around!!!!!
i feel like this was me lol its so funny cause im winning as a rebel with just circling the map on aino's very slow running 😂
Joyous_Tropical_172026-01-11 11:05
I LITERALLY saw the animation. AND THEN LATER WHEN THE TIMER RAN OUT IT SAID I DIDN'T CATCH THAT AINO. SORCERY. SORCERY. 😭 also yes Aino is slow, I even saw her dashing, but apparently didn't catch her?????????
corecenite2026-01-06 18:10
i think you need therapy
RealGiraffe60382026-01-06 18:27
So thanks to everyone's advice and help I in the end did the co-op event of Natlan and it was fun 😁
GuildieCast2026-01-06 22:54
Glad you had fun with the Natlan event! I think it's pretty normal to find any type of PvP to be intimidating for some people regardless of how carefree it looks. Just try to remember that nobody is judging you for how well you do on these events. We're all here to have a good time, or least for the primos. The most interaction I get during events are just friendly emotes from strangers.
Maniacal-Blueberry2026-01-06 18:52
Social anxiety makes me nervous to play these events as well. I know you said that you already did it, but remember in the future that the hardest part is clicking the match button. After that, it's nothing.
Aromatic-Tear72342026-01-06 19:14
No one knows who you are. Can you hear someone laugh from 1,000 miles away?
Sabishi19852026-01-06 19:37
I absolutely get that and for the longest time I felt the same way. 😅
You know what actually helped me? Try to imagine the other players as NPCs. It's silly, but it works. :)
shirone02026-01-06 19:45
You don't even talk with the others dw, just treat it as if others are random bots, even though it's coop there's really no human interactions anyways
esztersunday2026-01-06 20:12
I dislike co-op, but I want the primos, so even if I am bad, I do it. Others are bad too, and even if you are the worst, no one is going to remember your username.
Clean-Unit3362026-01-06 20:15
I have a similar issue, but I've found that most often everyone is so busy playing that they don't bother with sending messages and just focus on the game.
Personally, I tend to wait until the full event is open then take out the goals all in one session - much less spending time each day feeling anxious that way.
Also, if your friends are encouraging you to, I think there's a way to do a team up version so you're playing with your friends.
Dry-Intern5192026-01-06 20:15
That hide and seek event that just finished, I ended up being the first found quite a few times because I couldn’t be bothered really hiding all that well. I don’t see how you could play that part of the event wrong.
Don’t worry about what other people think of you when it comes to co-op. Just enjoy yourself.
The_Cheeseman832026-01-06 20:38
Here’s a bit of advice from a former theatre actor that I used to share with people I was training for public performances: in general, people want to see you succeed. Humans are naturally empathetic, we don’t enjoy seeing others in pain or distress, so when we see somebody struggling, we generally feel sympathy, not ridicule. In fact, sometimes making mistakes can make other people like you more, assuming you handle the situation gracefully. Showing a bit of imperfection makes you relatable, after all.
Murky_Crow2026-01-06 20:43
The only thing that I really really really hate about the co-op events where we have to go against one another is the fact that after it’s over, you have to sit at the screen for like what feels like a full minute or two where your only option is to sit there and realize that you lost while it shows the accolades.
I don’t know why it’s not an instant quit option.
I know the other guy collected more coins. Let me get the fuck out of here.
Tripdrakony2026-01-06 21:46
Bro, go out and touch some grass. This is the fucking internet. Heck it is fucking genshin HIDE AND SEEK why would anyone care about it?!?.
superbug12312026-01-06 21:49
i get it, i feel the same!! but really everyone else makes mistakes and people don’t notice. everyone is too focused on themself to notice you :) plus nobody really uses the chat feature so it’s basically like you are playing alone
Itspronouncedn0m2026-01-06 21:53
It’s not like you’ll get executed on the spot for being bad.
LadyMalcontent2026-01-06 22:03
If you’re like me that’s the collective COD lobby trauma talking
Auymi_Axolotl2026-01-06 22:13
I understand how you feel! Feeling scared and afraid of being judged is real and is completely valid. Take baby steps and get acclimated. Maybe try some milliastra Co-op games that don’t have a chat. But the best advice is take a deep breath and remember it’s just a game. It’s just a game to have fun. So remind yourself that you’re there to have fun. You got this OP, believe in yourself and your amazing capabilities!
sir_thrillho2026-01-06 22:26
I've never done them tbh, I like to game on my own.
Laithoron2026-01-06 22:31
It may be irrational, but I always get the same anxiety. My suspicion is that it triggers the people pleasing response in us which automatically makes us uncomfortable.
freezeFM2026-01-06 22:47
No need to be afraid. No one cares and no one will blame you no matter if its playing together or against each other. You can even afk if you dont care. Genshin is such a big game, the probability to meet anyone from random co-op ever again is basically zero.
opsaim2026-01-06 22:56
I didn’t get anyone (not even a whiff of them) when I was the catcher when I was doing the hide and seek event. 2 players messaged me telling me I should climb the trees next time lol.
People are kinder than we give them credit for.
I remembered when I started out with Genshin and higher level players would join my world and ask me what I needed help with, and help me get stuff done.
I don’t remember anyone’s ids apart from a few that I happen to know IRL. Don’t worry so much, and just enjoy the game (:
Background-Map-362026-01-06 23:06
OP, the community is already a joke between the meta players, the complainers and trolls in general. Just do your best and don't open the chat. Also, even if you have coop in general OFF, the event will still match you, so you don't need to turn it on.
Stardust-Sparkles2026-01-06 23:14
No one will even remember your name I doubt they’d care if you did anything wrong
WholesomeFW2026-01-06 23:22
Only time I get nervous in coop games is when teamwork is absolutely necessary to beat something. Hoyo coop events are made for extremely casual gameplay. I dont mind partaking but if Im lazy, just join, alt+tab and come back in 10 mins.
Lazaric4182026-01-06 23:31
in my experience, most co-op events are just pure chaos. Nobody really knows what the hell is going on, you get points just for joining in and whether you have to do 10 or 18 runs at it, nobody else either knows or cares :)
Remember there was that combat event a while ago where it gave you specific instructions as to what mechanics to use and just about everyone either didnt read or didnt case and you just ran with 4 different characters that didnt work together... at.. all... and somehow.. in all the chaos... it was just fine. a buncha free wishes for "BULLSHIT TEAM PARTY.. I CHOOSE YOU!!"
Dive in, and the first thing you'll notice is that nobody knows or cares what the hell is going on x)
AdministrationOk31132026-01-06 23:39
I kind of dislike them cause everyone is so darn competitive. Like why are you flying mach 20 across the map for a single coin huh?
-Freakshow2026-01-06 23:43
I felt that way the first time, but honestly? I laugh so hard whenever I mess up, and then I see ppl on IG and tktk messing up too so I just do it. Primos are primos ✨ and you’ll never meet those players again 😌
Mine_East2026-01-06 23:53
Tons of people are terrible. The games are short enough and you'll never be matched with these people ever again, so people don't really care. Plus you get points even for losing, so it's really a low rage thing compared to a genuinely co op game like League of Legends lol
bbatardo2026-01-06 23:55
I don't like them either, but you just pretend you are playing with AI and remember the results don't matter.
Little_Whole80382026-01-07 00:04
Op, I'm someone who generally dislikes a co-op event, but trust me, hide and seek is elite and soo fun!
To tell you the truth, I've been a long-time player, and at my first Windrace, I was just as hesitant, but trust me, once you jump in, you start to love it! Who knows, you might even look forward to it again one day (hence my excitement to see it back after a long break from the game, ahah)
Even the other Natlan event with the animal is super fun. Just enjoy yourself and remember that it's only entertainment.
Most people, myself included, only focus on themselves and/or on the objective (whether to hide or to seek, or simply to get the match over with and get the primos). And if you are even a little competitive, you will even forget about the others and just focus on your own points or whatnot.
FateBefalls2026-01-07 00:44
Honestly, I just joke around in Windtrace. There was one time that I played on a stage in Springvale and I had caught two of the three rebel players as the hunter and the third player was a Kokomi that was just chilling in a pond. I just stood there and watched Kokomi float for a solid minute. The Kokomi even got out of the pond and stood next to my character at the last few seconds and I did nothing, letting the rebels win. I didn't have enough time to type "And here we have a mermaid in her natural habitat" while she was swimming, otherwise I totally would have.
Anyway, you'll be fine. You'll still get points, you can complete the event, it's just a matter of how many tries it takes.
lsm05082026-01-07 01:36
Tbh, no one care
LonelyPanda_062026-01-07 01:48
No one will mind mistakes that much. Maybe "some" will notice, but at the end of the day, they won't even remember that. You should just try and dive into it without caring much. It's also a practice to overcome this feeling of yours. Back when I was just starting at this game, I was also kind of nervous at coops. But I did a lot of coops to get used to it. So just go for itt🤝
Sharlizarda2026-01-07 02:40
I felt really self conscious about co-op events at first as well, because I hated just being thrown in, not knowing the etiquette and not being able to communicate with other players or worrying I'd let people down.
If you try doing a few games I expect you will be like me & soon realise it's fine, even if you do mess up. My advice would be to accept you will feel awkward for the first few rounds and commit to doing them anyway. It's a life skill to attempt things that are uncomfortable and challenging and it's a great way to boost your sense of self efficacy too.
If you want moral support, you could get your friends to join your world or vice versa for co-op events. You could also try the opposite approach and join a random match alone and then intentionally play as badly as possible to demonstrate to yourself how little it matters and that you can cope with feeling embarrassed
fearthainn112026-01-07 03:00
I get you with the social anxiety, but you don’t even have to talk to the other players, and I rarely if ever see anyone else in the chat during a co-op event. And unless you send them a friend request or vice versa, you’ll likely never see them again, and if you do, you won’t even remember each other. There’s really nothing to worry about. Do it for the primogems!
Advendra2026-01-07 03:30
Bruh it's just a video game
restlessraccoon132026-01-07 04:31
I felt like this too OP. But you just have to start doing things. I’ve still made plenty of mistakes/been weird bc I didn’t understand certain parts of how co-op works. But in the end, it was fine and I never saw those players again anyways!
TrollingMermaid2026-01-07 04:52
I don't do co-op because I don't like talking to strangers, even if it's like a chat. I'm really shy. 🤦🏻♀️
arcadia_01892026-01-07 05:13
Never in my year of playing event coops have I met someone who uses the chat feature. They focus on the game and scores, no one even cares or looks at others or criticises them. Treat them like bots
I hope you overcome this fear 🤎
EKCarr2026-01-07 06:13
There’s a great book on codependency called “What You Think of Me Is None of My Business.” That book changed my life. I totally understand how hard it is to feel like you might do something stupid or be ridiculed. I was bullied horrifically in school and abused by my mom, so I had a ton of fear about what other people thought of me. Someone recommended that book to me and I realized that I was paralyzed by other people’s judgments. It was a type of mental and emotional prison, and in so glad I was able to heal from that.
hyschara3042026-01-07 09:12
Lose on purpose. Get the hunter to chase you. You'll just get less points and have to repeat more times but at least it gets done
persianglitch2026-01-07 09:53
Most of my genshin game time is spent in co op and lemme tell you this, dont worry about doin anything wrong, nothing can go that wrong to not be fixed in a few min if not saved by someone else, you may not know what the hell is happenening but most of the times there are others who are happy to help and carry you in challenges, in event most ppl just want the rewards and trying to figure out stuff as they play, you be right at home, co op players are hardly talkative and very few are talking shit but when you meet unpleasant people of co op feel free to leave and join another match or kickem and invite another player, insane people are almost as rare as 50cv onset goblets ive only met two in tree years of daily co op, just keep in mind that you are playing with randos, not everyone is in the same mood or maybe they are in rush or something, if you join a co op session for something, focus on doing that first, after that is done feel free to leave or stick around to see if they cool with doing something else, ive met great people and made many good friends in co op, dont let the bad reputation of co op that comes from people who played a match or two and gave up keep you away from all that fun. Good luck.
444dreamerz2026-01-08 01:16
no cause I hate co-op events too. I'm recovering from my teenage years social anxiety as a now adult but I guess I still don't handle playing with strangers well
HermitAndHound2026-01-08 16:58
I'm super bad at just about every co-op thing *ever*. Ping jumps between 25ms and 125ms, I must look like my char has an epileptic seizure even when I'm actually trying my best. I don't like them either.
Just be brave, go in, do something, try to have fun, and grab those points. It's not like we have limited tries. If points are missing, go another round. (I don't get how the points are calculated anyways, they don't seem to be related to "performance")
I rarely even notice people's names and absolutely no one has ever commented on my chaotic moves.
