Nod krai let down?
Anyone else just feel let down with Nod krai overall? While archon quest so far has been really good rest of Nod krai just hasn't been living up to the expectation and the hype there was before it came out. Not much in the way of areas and exploration, I wouldn't call it bad but it certainly doesn't feel like past nations at this point of the patch cycle.

The story has been great, I'm enjoying the new cast, and the music/bosses/vibes are immaculate.
Not a let down, but I have been hankering for exploration so I'm very happy we're getting new stuff
While you can argument the environment to Nod-Krai isn't to your taste, the WQs, music, etc are good as ever, as well as the gigachad Lunar compass.
Firstly, event quests. It feels like they reduced the effort that goes into flagship events in order to improve archon quests. E.g, Luna III main event didn't even have a traditional cutscene. Imo, events should never lack a cutscene, since it is one of the best ways to flesh out the main moment. Rewatching the cutscenes is also a great way to relive old memories.
Compare Luna III flagship event festival with Luna III archon story festival or older event festivals. Difference is noticable. Like, look at Irodori festival or Akademiya Extravaganza etc.
I liked Luna II event, but it still felt shortened. When it ended, my reaction was: Wait, that's it?
Lantern rite will probably still retain the same quality, but that's just because Lantern Rite is the main event of the year.
Secondly, world quests. Maybe they will improve them in the upcoming patch, but until now, they are nowhere near the same quality as previous regions imo.
Sumeru had whole Aranara questline and Golden Slumber by 3.2. Fontaine had Mamere and Seymor in 4.0, Catterpillar and Lanoire in 4.1, Talochard and Curve in 4.2. The whole Narzissenkreuz questline was finished by 4.2. Natlan had important quests with Little one as well as Bona questiline in Ochkanatlan by 5.2. Compared to any of them, Nod Krai world quests were underwhelming. I really, really hope Genshin will exceed my expectations in Luna IV, because world quests are one of my favorite things in this game.
Thirdly, exploration. I won't comment on quality, because that's subjective, but quantity feels really disappointing. Natlan was the one that started having less expansions per year, and Nod Krai is doing the same. For reference, Fontaine had 6 patches with a new area, Natlan had 4 and I have no reason to believe Nod Krai will have more than 4 either.
Next, character kits and endgame. I do not like heavy shilling, ascendant gleam, and the current teambuilding experience. I've played since 1.0, and this is the most unhappy I ever was with combat and endgame. And yes, I max starred every Abyss since Inazuma, max starred every IT since its introduction and cleared Fearless of every SO. I am not missing out on any rewards, but that doesn't mean I am satisfied with endgames at all.
There were good things as well, like QoL and better rewards. I also loved the buffs old Hexerei characters got. I kinda like Miliastra too. However, I think exploration, main events, world quests and combat are pretty significant things to be disappointed about.
Btw, I still have fun with all the aspects I said I am disappointed with. Events are fun, exploring and doing world quests is enjoyable. I still deeply love Genshin's combat. However, I still think they are not the same as they used to be (quality or quantity wise).
I kinda accepted we won't get as many expansions as we used to. As for events and world quests, I hope this was just me assuming the worst, and I would be delighted to be proven wrong with future events and world quests in Nod Krai.
- It took until 6.3 for a map expansion. Outside of the archon quest the game feels dead.
- every patch we get an event featuring natlan and saurians. I had no problem with natlan, but I’m sick of it now. They keep jamming saurians down our throat and now i hate them.
Same goes for coin collecting mini games. We had one in the main event and while it was going, we get another coin collecting game with saurians. Fuck off hoyo.
Song of the Welkin Moon will
But as proven by Dormman Port, they wont just release Nod krai maps
Its like calling Petrichor a "nation"
And who cares if it’s not a nation, I don’t get how this invalidates OP’s point. Nod Krai feels very meh. The story is great but the rest is average. It’s not surprising, it’s a filler patch/Snezhnaya waiting room.
Nod Krai was *expanded* to have those things after they realized the community, who doesnt read lore unless its on their screens(and the recent stupidness about Dottore been from Fontaine even makes me doubt they read it if its on their screen) complained the story is too confusing, and to tie lose ends
If they didnt need to do that,Nod Krai would have been built upon Snezhnaya exploration, sharing cryoculus, cryo statue of the seven and cryo compass
Version name is irrelevant. Its less daunting for a new player to come into a game at 1, than it is to drop at 6.0 and counting
Made up Lore DOES NOT MATTER.
What matters is the actual experience of the player.
Nod Krai released as a major new area same as Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine and Natlan. Therefore it needs to be as sizeable.
Everyone complained constantly about the Natlan shields, I feel the wild hunt mechanic is even worse. It demands a 5* Nod Krai unit.. or you get to double kill them essentially. Natlan shields only required elemental damage.. people just wanted to hate, where they at now?
Not a fan of the pull two 5* to use 1 properly. Even worse for Nefer owners trying to get baited Lauma C1 just to not feel jank dying. 4* can’t even trigger lunar reactions…
Story has been great but rather long winded at times. The character stories forced into the AQ is not the best, but helps develop characters
I think it’s great tying up lose ends but also feels as if it’s riding on nostalgia fumes. Without Durin, Varka, Nicole, Alice, Bina, Sandrone.. the actual Nod Krai cast is quite slim.
It is awesome to finally get the lore we’ve been wanting! Overall cast is very enjoyable. Looking forward to the new map
Either it's the algorithm or it could just be me seeing very, very few complaints about this. Natlan shield/Wayob ultimate sucking got so much flak but not much on NK mechanics.
Maybe those Natlan skippers lucked out on their NodKrai pulls, idk.
Exploration has felt sparse for those of us who enjoy exploration. The compass updates made things easier for completionists but also meant less time spent manually searching for chests and puzzles. I find myself playing through the updates and then only logging on for dailies or the little events, versus past regions where I spent a lot more time running around.
The archon quest has been bad minus scenes with Aino-Ineffa, but the exploration is completely fine if very short because the actual explorable area is so small.
But those farking cheating wild hunt mobs need to be removed from the game. They are as cancerous and BS in Genshin as they are in HI3.
