Do you think we'll ever see updates to old maps?

Walking around Sumeru, I noticed that its border with Fontaine is almost empty. There are no flowers, no animals, no enemies or chests, not even collectibles. I quickly thought that maybe it has to do with the fact that Fontaine was added later, but it got me thinking. Will they ever update old maps to add new world quests? Or maybe just to leave new chests. It's true that there is still space on the map to keep adding, such as south of Sumeru and Liyue or north of Fontaine, or in the middle of the Hydro Nation and Nod-krai. Still, I want to know what you think.

I wish they’d add underwater exploration elsewhere outside of Fontaine but I guess the lore and mechanics would contradict that idea.

This part of the map got released after Fontaine. It was just added to get rid of the ugly dark stain on the map.

I think you just frequent those spaces where people complain. If it was huge they would have changed the map or made a statement. Was not huge.

They have only ever made one official statement in direct response to fan criticism, and that was for Zhongli. Even the Neuvillette rollback was just a patch note and apologems.

Expecting a statement or changes to finalized content is not wise.

I honestly think the large open body of water between Fontaine and Sumeru was intentional and thinking ahead for when we finally go to Celestia - having a blank space there to allow for waypoints would make more sense than having to overlap these over the mainland. That’s no excuse for Bayda harbor and that strip of coast though lol

I think they used to merge locations better in older regions. We don't have such emptiness between mondstadt - liyue - dragonspine, liyue - sumeru - chasm. But then we have these big empty areas like sumeru - petrichor, or between desert - natlan. Man I just love exploration. It's not about primos. I love mora rocks, I love no primo remarkable chests on tsurumi island, and I'd take this over these empty areas any time. I want adventure game to feel like adventure.

I doubt it. This particular part of Sumeru was released in 4.6 with the last Fontaine expansion and they could have added things here, but didn't.

I think they could implement it if it's somewhat similar to what they did with Vanarana in sumeru.

this part of the map was added with the final part of Fontaine, Nostoi/Rumeria.

the reason why it's 99% empty is because it wasn't the main focus in the patch it was added in and I assume they didn't want a awkward blank area between that port area and Nostoi.

I'd say it's not likely but I could see them use these spaces when the map is complete and they need locations for events etc.

I think that something is going to happen in that region later on, be it celestial falling, khaehriah being raised to the surface or something else similarly cataclysmic
