It's not that bad. There's a lot of "Ara-" words and they kind of run together after a while and it would be a bit overwhelming to try to do the entire quest chain at once (I usually suggest to people they do it in different sittings). But it's actually really good, especially if you're interested in the lore of Sumeru.

I think the same-y names were the main reason why I didn't really connect with the Aranara. They're really cute :] but its difficult to care about them when its so hard to distinguish their names, and they just become "the one with the siblings" or "the one with a sword"

They kept staring at me on the official interactive map, so one day, after dinner... I went through all of them. I hadn't originally marked the ones I had found and the game doesn't tell you how many you already have, so I had to visit all of the locations. Since I afterwards could open every last treasure chest, I think I'm finished with the Aranara...?
I had similar problem with our saurian bro in Natlan, I'm not sure if I've done everything. But since the quest is apparently mostly linear, and I've done the part in the dragon city inside the volcano, I'm guessing all of that is done too.
The biggest difference between the two is how you could run the aranara in one swoop on release, whereas the saurian questline dropped in parts over Natlan arc. People would probably piss their pants if they attempted to run the entire saurian story in one go today, as it most certainly is longer than aranaras.

It took some time but in my opinion the quest is pretty beautiful and well done although it‘s so long, it‘s great and should be appreciated and it‘s a pity some players rushed it or don‘t even want to play it because of the length.

I found it quite adventurous and a beautiful quest. Also, it provides some lore on the abyss sibling and their journey 500 years ago. It's not necessary to complete (finding all 77? Aranaras etc.) You can assume the quest ends when you've saved a certain NPC and move on.

Don't rush it also my best advice is to use a aranara dictionary alongside the quest. They will use a lot of ara-words and it's easy to mix them up. So get a sheet with marana = x, naravaruna = y and so on.

See I started that and got to a point where all of the quest updates are spread in seemingly random areas, then forgot about it. So I will randomly find part of their story in the overworld while I'm on some other mission. Kinda fun honestly. Pace your adventure, these guys are cute and silly and the whole quest is interesting if you pay attention to it :]

aranara quest is heavily tied to world exploration, so its best to do start it sooner than later. i only complete mine 2-3 years later because i feel its too overwhelming, and most of my sumeru is unexplored.

It's fine if you don't force yourself to do everything in one go (they give you a book where you will understand it's supposed to have an episodic nature), and if you don't suffer from hating complicated and similar looking words (and honestly if you don't remember the name of a few NPC, it's not a big deal).

It *does* take a long time, and it *does* get tedious--but points during the overall Aranara questline made me tear up, the aranara grew on me and I ended up enjoying using the quest to explore Sumeru more. Just enjoy it, don't try to brute force it because you'll burn yourself out and hate it.
Also I *definitely* recommend using a guide for the 76 Aranara spread across Sumeru. Just, be thorough with making sure you investigate after one leaves for the forest again, because apparently if you don't then the game might not ping that that specific aranara has been collected. I followed the guide but somehow still don't have all of them (and might have forgotten to do the investigation thing a few times) :') The final 3 chests won't open despite the aranara saying the dialogue sometimes saying I can open them

Its stark contrast with Jeht storyline which is also in Sumeru but its 10/10 WQ.
