How would the game change if you could always have a 5 characters team?
We know a 5 characters team is something that the game can handle, in a lot of story quests we are able to get a 5th party member with no problems, I don't remember if we ever get them in the overworld or it's a domain only thing
but still the fact that this happens means that the game does support a more than 4 characters party, and now I wonder how much would the game change if we could always have 5 characters?
Overworld exploration would of course be a lot better but would combat really change that much?
Lunar reactions would probably be even stronger considering if I'm not mistaken they base their damage on all of the stats of the characters in your party, the hexarei buff would probably be pretty easy to trigger for almost any party (sucrose is basically a good universal support already) and dendro would probably have an easier time with hyperbloom and fridge teams
but I feel like for teams like vaporize or other similar reactions thing wouldn't change much

The real reason Skirk is locked to hydro/cryo is Escoffier; her talent wants 4 hydro/cryo members to get 55% RES shred. However, Escoffier’s talent doesn’t actually say that **all** party members must be these two elements, unlike Nilou or Chevreuse for example. So your 5th member can be a different element.
Due to how particles work, ER requirements would go up across the board because particles give less energy per character.
Rotations will also end up being longer than they should be, which would just not work in some comps.
The only ways to make it work is if you use the fact you have another character to trigger effects, such as Lunar or elemental resonance effect. You can also use someone like Chiori who can ignore character switch cooldown and or takes microscopic field time which wont hurt rotations as bad.
is that true? so if you have a single character in the party they get their burst faster?
So you couldn’t swap them in, couldn’t use any of their skills. They’d only count for like pyro resonance for 25% ATK for example, or count as a Hex character for resonance. It would also make Ascendant Gleam a lot more f2p friendly as you could just put Aino/Jahoda/Illuga as your 5th slot just to fulfill the 2 NK member requirement.
But most importantly, it'll make for some interesting team combinations.
Also with how short rotations are (16-20sec) you might not even get to do full setups with one of them.
Unless you extend rotations or cut an onfield's time short.
Some buffs might not last long enough after swapping more characters and doing more setups.
