I have never crowned a character, am I missing something?
I am not a new player. I have been playing for 2 and half years, AR 59.
I have 27 (without counting manekins) fully ascended characters half of them are level 90.
But I have never crowned any characters ever. I use daily resins and play events regularly, I just always ends up building characters or farming for already built characters.
And I am basically broke all the times, no mora, no artifact level up material, no character level up materials (right now I don’t even have enough to level up a single character from 80 to 90 I think), sometimes not even weapon level up materials. I even buy the battle pass each patch.
I do have multiple top 1-5% characters and even more under top 10%.
I have no idea how people have lot of triple crowned characters. Are they like playing for 4+ years or something? Or do they play differently?
Only waste I can think of I do is, leveling up every built characters normal attacks to level 6 for aesthetics. But that’s not a big waste.

I'm pretty sure this is what OP is saying? Most character's normal attacks are worthless, so those are the ones they're leaving at 6.
OP has spread their resources to have a lot of well-built characters. In terms of efficiency, it's usually the right move to skip the crown and spend that resin elsewhere
To OP's original point, if you've been playing a long time is it really difficult to imagine that in a deep pool of characters you would have crowned multiple characters where their talent scaling is very important whose resources you put into instead of leveling near useless talents to lvl 6 or so?
If you're already at that point in your team's builds, sure. I definitely don't think it's often that you're getting more out of crowning a talent than spending the resources elsewhere, when you factor in the cost. Even for hypercarries.
OP seems to prefer building a large roster, so until they find someone they really just want to hyperinvest in, it's pretty much always going to be worth it to skip the crown
He’s at the point where he could finishing leveling up talents of characters he likes to play.
And he’s choosing not to. Which is fine.
But he’s also coming to Reddit acting like he can’t understand why people would crown.
Play the game how you want, sure.
But dont play dumb acting like you (OP) don’t understand how leveling up talents can help that character, that character’s team, and the entire account.
>But dont play dumb acting like you (OP) don’t understand how leveling up talents can help that character, that character’s team, and the entire account.
I'm not seeing this anywhere in their post? They're wondering how people have the resources to triple crown multiple characters. Triple crowning a character is almost always a large waste of your resources lmao
Other 2 are minimum level 8. And most important one level 9.
>I do have multiple top 1-5% characters and even more under top 10%.
You're just spending your resin more efficiently. Some have been playing for a long time and have the resources to fully build out a character. Some save all their fragiles for when they want to go all in on a character. A lot of people just care a lot more about hyperinvesting in their favorites rather than fully building out many characters.
Like double crit artifacts. Or em and er for support, etc.
Plus now with artifact extractor thing you need like 2-3 good artifacts, which is doable. But it of course it takes considerable amount of resin.
Then even if I don’t need to farm artifacts, then I end up upgrading another character (a useful or someone I like), and after farming leylines, talents mat for them, you again go back for artifacts. I am never left with anything to spare.
It’s like a cycle I guess.
stop doing this
>And I am basically broke all the times, no mora, no artifact level up material
to prevent this
you are welcome
You don't need to slave away in artifact grind all the time. Your 5% build might actually be a 12% build cause it's missing essential crowns.
Spend a few days grinding the talent books and mora to level important talents. Trust me, you wouldn't have found an artifact upgrade in that time anyway
Then I have a list of characters I want to upgrade like good 4 stars. Then I farm for them. After like level 80 fully ascended and talents 6/8/8, I go back to artifacts farming for them if I don’t have good spare.
If I finish that, by then I surely have a new 5 star to upgrade. I don’t think I have ever caught a break for this cycle haha.
Right now I am almost done farming artifacts for all the characters I have built (just need to use the extractor next patch). And in the next 2 patch I will be getting 2 new characters, plus I still have like 2 useful 4 star I haven’t level up yet.
Older players usually only have 1-2 new characters they want to build each patch, which is enough time to max out each character.
One of these patches, you'll have a skip patch, and you can use that to catch up on crowning your chars.
You're not setting any records worth chasing for without the c6r5 anyway.
for reference if you have a "top 1%" build then going from lvl 9 to 10 talents is the equivalent of 2-3 full substats which at 3k+ rv% usually means multiple years of farming lol
* Bennett burst
* All sources of significant damage on your carry
* All sources of res shred e.g. xilonen
* All other damage amps e.g. furina
I usually clear all the end games, spiral abyss all stars, stygian fearless and theater 10 stars, sometimes 8, but this is about character amount.
I honestly didn’t thought it is that big of a deal since you have it level 9 already. Guess I am missing out a lot.
Like yesterday I had like 10 million, now I am back to being broke after leveling up 4 artifacts to 20.
In 1.0, there were 23 new characters. Think of this as "the backlog". At the beginning, I was trying to build 4+ characters at the same time, which the game doesn't give out enough resources to do comfortably. But the game only adds 1-3 new characters per patch. Once you've cleared through "the backlog"- ie, you built all the original characters you're going to build- you're basically at "run the business", which is pretty manageable. I had mora problems this patch because I realized I genuinely wanted to build Durin, Mona, Klee, and re-tool my Venti a bit for Hexerei and building 3-4 characters at once is expensive. But once you clear the backlog and you've only got 1 character to build in a patch, you'll make more than you spend.
Crazy how you farmed a lot of artifacts but didn't realize talent is easier.
And that one is super expensive. Gold books plus mora.
And enemy mats which is painful to collect if you don’t have it already. Especially for level 10.
Artifact farming is easier in that sense.
All the built characters can be played in any mix or alone without doing anything. It’s just satisfying even though I am clearly missing out of obvious upgrades. Probably my OCD.
Just level up important talents now, see the rewards later.
I farmed for two years for Eula artifacts just to hit top 40% or so.
Gave up and decided talents and levels wouldn’t be RNG at least!
Yes...and yes. People who has been playing for longer /usually/ have more resources to spare because they have fewer characters to build. The longer you play, assuming you take no breaks, less resources constrained you are.
Also people don't go crowing characters left and right, they choose carefully who to build and what talents are worth leveling up because those items are rare. I leave some of my characters at lv9 talents myself if I think they are good but not good enough to deserve a crowned talent.
I have used every crown in the game. All of them that were ever offered. I think that's triple crowning 24? 25? Something in the 20s. I know I have one left over for the next character I intend to pull.
Of the rest of my characters, all but 10 are level 90. All of the level 90 characters that aren't triple crowned are 9/9/9 in talents. The remaining 10 are characters I hate. But they are still level 70/80 with 8/8/8 talents. Every one has 90 weapons. Every one has a good (or better) set of artifacts. I likewise have quite a few in the top %s.
So, yes, you're missing out on guaranteed, set power increases in favor of gambling on that .1% chance for a 1% upgrade on your artifacts. In my opinion, artifacts are the *last* thing I mess with because they are the least likely to offer any return on investment once you have a reasonable basic set.
So you don’t farm artifacts that much? When do you stop usually? Most supports are generally easy since it’s (hp/em/atk) and er.
Only after my mora and XP book savings drained, i faced my mistakes and changed my way of managing my resources. Not every characters needs to be Lvl90 and not every skill has to be leveled up.
And why waste mats on normals for characters that skill + burst and switch? Is it an ocd thing? For some characters, you will never keep them as the active character after using their skill & burst... That's millions of mora and mats spent on something you won't ever touch unless you play badly. Meanwhile, you're gimping your dps and subdps for no reason. 🤔
And yeah that everyone to 6 thing is probably OCD related. I basically do it with all the other talents, first I get them all 3 to 6 and then upgrade skill and burst to next levels. I don’t think it’s that expensive, like only silver books and low amount of mora. Looks pretty satisfying though.
WOW
"I have no idea how people have lot of triple crowned characters. Are they like playing for 4+ years or something? Or do they play differently?"
Most players only do that for their favorites! I have 17 crowns, I triple crowned only Neuvillette, some have 2 Nahida, Furina, Navia, Chasca, Arlecchino...
Why don't you use them on your most used characters? Those don't do anything in the inventory!
I’m not judging you for THAT. If that’s how you want to play, go for it.
What I am judging you for? Is having 27 characters ascended, play daily, etc etc etc. So you OBVIOUSLY know why leveling talents can matter.
Yet you come to Reddit acting like “duh, uh, guh, buh, uh, why level them up past 6?”
THATS judge worthy.
Own that you play how you want. But dont act dumb like you don’t see why crowning has benefits. GTFO.
I said I level up “normal attacks” of every character I level up to level 6 even if they don’t use it, for aesthetic, and I counted it as a waste because it is useless in practice.
Literally made an edit after because some people like you don’t even think for a second before jumping into conclusions. I clarified there other 2 are always level 8 minimum and level 9 for important talents and characters.
Usually for me if i want to use the character right away i might throw a mediocre set on them in the meantime but grinding those god tier 1% artifacts is definitely the last step.
You don’t really need to crown characters tho and few would benefit from triple crown. But if you’re using the character enough its a guaranteed bump in dmg and definitely worth it. As for triple crown, usually people just do it cuz flex with favorite character, whether optimal or not.
