How do you feel about exploring the other regions?

I have Furina. She has grown to be my favorite character both in gameplay and character wise. She is low leveled but I want her strong (because she’s in nearly every team I made after getting her)

So I went out and stumbled into Fontaine despite the fact I’m currently in Sumeru’s Archon Quest. I exposed myself to the underwater mechanic way before I should have but good news is I got Ascension Materials! (She’s level 40 now and idk if I wanna go back into Fontaine) I do this for nearly all of my characters in regions I’m not in. I venture out. I hit Teleport Waypoints. I try to avoid Seven Statues because well I have teleport waypoints but it’s pretty hard to see where I’m goin’ so I connect with a few.

Is this like acceptable here? I’ve done the same for my Iansan and boy Natlan is cool visually but I try to steer clear of fights or spots that seem like they’ll throw me into a quest. (I did something similar back in Liyue where I was exploring the mountains surrounding the chasm and accidentally wandered into Sumeru sooo I had Dendro before I had Electro Traveler like now I have Hydro Traveler when really I shouldn’t.)

I feel like this is a sin but I just want my out of Mondstadt-Sumeru characters strong. Now most of my map (excluding Natlan and Nodkrai I will NOT be venturing into those any time soon. Not anymore) is lit up and I’m not really walking into regions blind.

I try to be really careful of accidentally activating quests (especially major ones) when going into a new region I haven't done the AQ for. But I gotta say, it sure is so much harder to do that these days because I remember taking two steps into Natlan months ago and immediately getting pushed into a cutscene lol. It's honestly been a pet peeve of mine since I do want to maintain immersion with the timeline

Genshin's regions and quest lines are all basically independent, and you can start on anything you unlock without really being concerned about being spoiled on anything else.

It doesn't matter when you're exposed to Fontaine's underwater mechanics, because they don't matter anywhere other than Fontaine.

Quests are similar. If you unlock something, you can just do it. If they spoil anything, they'll be such generic and basic spoilers that you've probably seen worse browsing reddit.

It may be a "false" open world, in the sense that there is a clear order to do things and advance the story, but this is still an open world, so it remains your choice to do things how you feel them, you're the one playing you don't have to care about what is "acceptable" or not.

I think a lot of us tend to beeline to farming domains and bosses anyway it's really no big deal, if you stumble into a quest by mistake just ignore it for the time being, as for the mobs along the way it's probably okay to fight them if you can (and if yo want)

I don't know how familiar you are with the concept an open world game, but you could even not play the story at all and go around doing random stuff. I unlocked the whole map before finishing Mondstadt, except Inazuma

You’re good. Acceptable? Don’t let anyone else tell you you’re way of enjoying the game is unacceptable. But if you’re looking for advice then I think what ur doing is perfectly fine without spoiling yourself in anyway if thats what you’re worried about. Most of the exploration is pretty independent from any other nation and can be explored in any order really. I would though recommend doing at least the archon quests in order, but that’s pretty easy to avoid starting by mistake. Technically some of the major world quests want you to do them in order but the effect is extremely minimal, although they do give some good lore background for the archon quests of the same region so it could be beneficial to do them aligned.

TLDR; you’re not ruining anything for yourself, go level up your Furina

Genshin Impact is (mostly) a single-player game. Play the game how you want to play it; you don't need to justify your decisions to anyone else.

99% of the game can be completed using only the starter characters the game gives you (Traveler, Amber, Lisa, and Kaeya). There's nothing forcing you to go to other lands to level the characters you get via the Gacha, like Furina. But there's nothing stopping you either. Do it if you want to. Don't if you don't.

I got Nahida as my first 5\*. I was adamant I would do content in the order it released. I couldn't take it anymore and went to Sumeru while I was still in Inazuma. I felt spoiled as it was such an upgrade.

It's better to venture forth early and get mats for characters you like. The game is so much more enjoyable with your favorite characters.

I think it would be really interesting to do world quests before you're "supposed to." Fontaine and Natlan's big world quests in particular lose some of their narrative oomph if they're done after their respective archon quests. So do what you want!
