How to level up my new characters in World Level 3

Hey guys! So I’ve just started playing genshin. I’m on Inazuma archon now, and I stopped doing the story quests for now, since I pulled some new characters that I would like to level up (refer to the images I’ve provided). I would like to use these characters, since I’ve just realized that my main team kinda sucks.

Question: How can I level them up even though I’m already on World Level 3? Do I need to lower my world level?

No, just farm Leylines (the blue orbs on your map) for EXP materials. If you literally can't kill enemies with your team, then I guess lower the world level but that shouldn't be a problem. Refer to the [Build Priority Infographic](https://www.reddit.com/r/GenshinImpactTips/comments/qkxdj6/infographic_of_build_order_priority_based_on_wlar/) for where your damage dealers should be.

If you're really stuck though and can't farm at all, join the discord or friends megathread here and get someone to help you farm up a decent team to a level where you can handle yourself.

I’ve watched several videos saying that its best to farm blue leylines. However, whenever I complete the mission, it just drops blue books (adventure’s experience) and not the purple ones. I don’t really know what’s causing this.

Your low World Level. The drops you get scale as your WL goes up. For a new player, exploration can be a better way to get EXP books, because chest drops are the same at all levels, and it doesn't cost resin to open chests, just time and occasionally combat. But chests are ultimately a limited resource, and if you can't play a long time each day then you still should spend resin, and leylines are as good as anything for your level. Just don't waste your Fragile Resin items, since using one now will give you less drops than using them later, and they don't expire.

Plus exporing gives you exp to raise your level faster to get better drops. But that is a double-edged sword, as you're finding out with enemy difficulty outpacing your characters' builds.

Personally I'd rather use my resin to farm materials. Later on you're going to love your low bronze and silver stock piles so when you pull new chars you don't have to wait for certain dates to stock pile for base level talents

The other thing is that you should be doing quests instead to level. If a quest rearwards you 3 purple it gives you that regardless of world level. Some of them are just bring ppl food or running errands. It's also how you make decent money too at noob levels.

Ppl vastly underestimate the value of quest rewards at lower levels

Question though, what do you do after spending your resins? Do you just do side quests?

Use the character guide in the menu to see what you need and where to find it for leveling up each character

first of all, do yourself a favor and keep in mind that dendro mc and pyro mc are the only usable ones

second of all, do the ascension quests to unlock further ascensions for your characters.

best team you can do rn imo is Tigh, Fischl, Lisa(if possible with the 3 star weapon that gives atk to the next character you swap into so you can buff either tigh or fischl) and then Noelle to survive
