I'm gonna talk about my own experience: I don't really care about columbina, like at all. I'm gonna skip her next patch without thinking twice about it. I met her canon character before knowing about the eldritch version, and let me tell, she is very boring in my eyes. Yes her story is cool and her relationship with other are okay, but that's much about it for me. I'd think I'll like her more in her eldritch version, but even so I'm not even mad about it, it's just a bland character for me.
I never met people who didn't like the canon columbina because of that scary one, so I can't really speak about it since I never saw this happen at all. For me, everybody is very excited about her in general

Preferences are a thing🤷🏽♀️ The in game dialogue about her was a bit misleading and it sparked inspiration and there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s also nothing wrong with being disappointed with how they handled her character.
I personally loved the fanon Columbina and I can say that no one thought she was canon, we were just having fun with that interpretation of her. But I like canon Columbina, too. She’s quite unoriginal as a character herself but she’s charming and easily likable. I can’t wait to pull on her rerun

It's not exactly scary but its a dark and fun little read that personally gave me some Edgar Allen Poe vibes.
