What if phanes is just...dead

Imagine the Traveller goes through five more years of hoyo milking their story, only to reach celestia, defeats all 4 shades including the unknown God, and reach phanes' bed/sleeping station...only to find that they have been dead this whole time.

And the shades didn't know because they where scared of waking them up.

This is mostly a joke post, so don't kill me

it came to me after counting the number of things that should have woken phanes up, like...

- Apep healing
- neuvilette getting his full power back
- the archons betraying him
- everything that's happening with dottore
- mavuika single handedly breaking his home defense system (the fake sky)
-everything that happend with capitano
- the tsaritsa collecting the gnosis
- rhine'fucking'dottir doing the fusion dance with the god of life

No, it's not a real possibility for Genshin.

Hoyoverse is still supporting Honkai 2 and 3, and Genshin is, comparatively, an *enormous* moneymaker. They've also rolled out Miliastra as a way to let Genshin compete with, say, Minecraft and Roblox for the long term tail.

Eventually, Genshin will slow down. Our Teyvat story will end, and something new will start that will make a lot of people very doomer about it. They might slow their roll on content updates and new characters, as they transition their attention to Genshin 2 or whatever their next major project is, but Genshin will last as long as hoyoverse does.

tldr Genshin is not going to EOS for a **long** time, barring nuclear war or other equally dramatic societal upheavals.

If a Genshin 2 does eventually happen, I feel it would be an entirely new game instead what hoyo did with Hi3. And when it does, the question of Genshin 1 either being on autopilot or pivoting to a purchasable game with all the gacha elements being removed so you can obtain the characters and weapons through normal means is important.

Game Preservation is more important now, especially with the recent news of Anthem's servers shutting down very soon.

Definitely seemed to be the case. I recall mentioned that before the story was finished, they had a bunch of their main writers moved over to Star Rail before its release, so the final chapter suffered from inconsistencies and rushed segments (everyone suddenly knowing Red Seele existed with no prior introduction, skipping over the last few Herrschers like Binding, Death, etc).

Also still salty all we got was a broken statue of "Herrscher of The End" after she was teased and hyped since near the start of the story. No actual appearance or fight. Wouldn't be surprised if it was cut and they were trying to wrap up as fast as possible so they could release dependency of the original writers so they could focus on Star Rail.

Could be reasonable, but outside of Teyvat is like... the entirety of the abyss. It seems like we are a tiny pocket amongst all that has been consumed by the abyss, and Teyvat has just been protected by the descenders who reshaped it to what it is now.

Honestly I think Phanes might be further inside Teyvat somehow. Maybe inside or near Irminsul. It seems far safer than exposing itself in their weakened state to the abyss.

Maybe Teyvat is an egg and we are all just nutrients that Phanes will try to consume when they wake up so they can break the shell and survive in the hostile outside world.

The world always needs someone sitting at the throne. I mean our sibling literally is leading the Abyss. Depends on what you think the Shades are.

If their powers are essentially administrator tools for Teyvat, then a being like Phanes who doesn’t belong to Teyvat and hence isn’t affected by them can die.

Plus, shadows of a dead or long gone god isn’t exactly too wild of a concept. They could be traces of his power that still lingers in the world, and eventually even that will fade away.

I don't think the Traveler has done much yet to change the fate of the world. Most of the events would have probably resolved somewhat the same way even without the Traveler. Examples being: Nahida probably would have been rescued by the group of individuals even without the Traveler, even if there were some different "outcomes" for certain individuals. Natlan would have overcome the Abyss, even if they incurred more losses. I think the biggest standout is Fontaine as a point. The Traveler had minimum involvement there, and despite a prophecy and all that it was still averted.

An easy way to explain why the Shades haven't really stepped in during certain big events (such as after the Throne being destroyed) is because they actually knew how it was going to turn out and didn't need to interfere.

Like the current situation with the Doctor. He might think he's succeeded and all, but maybe they already know how it's going to end for him... which would result in them not stepping in during the situation again.

I floated the idea that the traveler and their sibling are two halves of Phanes for fun. In some description, it is said Phanes is androgynous where you can’t really tell if they are male or female.

A few things in the story kind of lend the idea to this, such as titles. Normally King is reserved for a male but we have seen a few female characters also be called a King (Alice for example).

I thought it would be a cool twist to find out the traveler is one half of Phanes. It would mean Asmonday is more loyal than the other shades, which we kind of get from the story anyway. It would also solve part of the space ship issue where it clearly looks like it’s for one person, rather than two.

My crack head canon even from the years ago was that Phanes was the twins all along. Just how Nibelung went away and came back to be classified a different being (a descender) but corrupted, maybe phanes went out of teyvat, or got their memories disjointed with the abyss trying to protect teyvat - idk, they did *something*.. then somehow their consciousness split into the twins.

That’s why in the BSAM it says that their gender was androgynous. That could also maybe explain why the Abyss twin wants the Traveler to journey the world first ‘and then they will understand’. Maybe it’s to recoup all the memories of the land? Once the traveler does reach the ‘end of their journey’, maybe it could really be ‘the end’ because maybe they have to both die and/or merge their consciousnesses so they could ascend to become ‘Phanes’ again

And *if* Paimon was Asmoday, it could explain why she’s missing in the meeting of shades, and why they couldnt find her. The shades saying she’s ‘betrayed’ phanes for an unknown ‘entity’ which cannot be recorded in Irminsul. It’s because she’s attached to the Descender half of Phanes.

Perhaps Asmoday was with Phanes during the moment that caused them to go missing and asmoday to become Paimon. Then they both giga brained it so they would meet in the way they did and become friends despite having never met after they lost their memories. Maybe that’s why the shades are still a thing, despite the primordial one being missing. Because *teeechnically* theyre still in teyvat. Theyre just ‘alseep’ which could mean that theyre just waiting for the traveler to finish their journey, *and then* ‘phanes’ could ‘wake up’ again

Idk this could also explain why Paimon was called “Paimon” who in the ars goettia is the ‘follower of Lucifer’. Why is this mentioned? Because ‘Lucifer’ is also known as a *fallen Angel* who is also the ‘Prince of Hell’.

I think another interesting possibility is that the Heavenly Principles is Abraxas, since BSAM has a reference to Demian in the passage referring to the birth of Phanes, Abraxas' position as both a demon and the ultimate creator, and the fact Abraxas is all-encompassing (being both man and woman, good and evil, light n dark, that sorta thing). I think Lucifer is more likely but Abraxas would be interesting for Genshin's Cosmology imo

I was actually thinking that too! Seen a bunch of theories on the lore sub about it too and it seemed quite interesting. I was actually thinking that maybe abraxas could be another entity altogether, like perhaps the creator of the universe?

But i mean at this point, we dont even know for sure what the power scaling of the HP is. He could be the creator of the universe too for all we know 😅 Lucifer is the one that seems more plausible and comes to mind more often for me because of Paimon mostly
