You can't realistically make any great teams with just one five star anymore. They're being designed in pairs or even full ass foursomes. The old universal supports (Kazuha, Furina, Xilonen) are getting phased out.
You would do best to just choose your favorite at that point, since every choice is wrong.
That said, if you must pick one, probably the most versatile, long term viable options are Ineffa and Lauma, so one of them.

Whoever you like the most. I'm partial, Ineffa was my first 5 star and her vertical is extremely strong as a standalone it's a full on team onto itself. Which ill be doing on a seperate account.
The first time I cleared floor 11 was just her and Barbara with 3 stars. And in the future they will have my strongest team together.

I personally do not like her character(writing) but as far as 5 stars are concerned she should be the best one due to her being insanely strong, not too reliant on other 5 stars and having probably the second best exploration abilities after chasca and just being the most fun character to play imo, she's also a character who can run without other 5 stars and still produce decent results unlike 90% of the other 5 stars so there's that too.

Yep if we ignore end game, Chasca makes so many puzzles invalid with just her flying and will deal with most shield checks in the game. She isn't the strongest DPS but can dodge in overworld most enemies bar the ruin missiles.

Plus, she is perfectly usable with 5-stars. She is the “random bullshit go” for elements with her rainbow team. Also as mentioned she is too damn good for exploration.

that was a joke, but furina would actually be my pick! she offers damage, buffs that like 90% of characters can take advantage of, her element lets her fit into so many teams and her slower application makes her not too big of an issue in teams that don't want it. and she heals. and she's pretty.

The reasonable answer: your favorite character after learning about all of them.
The unrealistic answer: the last meta character that the game will release. Which would require you to pull a character that won’t come out for years. But objectively because of the way power creep goes in even the best games. A key meta character in 2030+ will fundamentally carry you through the entire game and more easily into that same year.
Or … ykno… Mavuika because spinny bike
