It's just her hair shaped like that.

Uhh…yes? Dehya too actually, the way to see if their ears are real is if they have human ears. If they do have human ears, their animal ears are fake and vice versa
Elysium_Chronicle2026-01-08 10:45
Dehya's hair is at least intentionally styled to look like cat ears, as part of her "lioness" image.
Keqing's hair buns are instead shaped like bamboo shoots, that people mistake for cat ears anyways.

That's a variation of old traditional Chinese hairstyle Niu Jiao Tou/牛角头 (literal translation Ox horn hairstyle) and it never meant to look like bamboo shoots.
Ganyu has deep insecurities about her not-human half. She is afraid of rejection so she hides her half human status, and even lies her horns aren't real but are ornamental heirlooms. And considering how much Keqing cares about Ganyu there's a huge chance she chose Ox horn hairstyle deliberately so people mistook it for real ears/horns and ask just how they ask about Ganyu's horns.
But that's just assumptions. But the fact is, Keqing does love cats and never expresses interest in bamboo. And there's her skin that shapes her hair in cat ears clearer which disproofs your point

I doubt that Keqing styles her hair the way that she does for Ganyu's sake. Until very recently, the two were outright at odds with one another, going by their first "About Ganyu" and "About Keqing" voice lines. The second "About Ganyu" and "About Keqing" voice lines indicate that they have come to a better understanding and appreciation of one another.
Nowhere is it mentioned that Keqing changed her hairstyle after getting to know Ganyu better, and she wouldn't have had a reason to sport a hairstyle to defend Ganyu before that point.
PandiTati2026-01-08 14:27
Never said that it's the lore reason. The real reason is obvious, Hoyo wanted another girl with cat ears, period. We also never got an explanation for Sucrose either. But Ganyu's situation would be at least more believable than Keqing suddenly styling hair as... Bamboo. When she never expressed her interest in it. Even sounds ridiculous.
By there's lore fact - Keqing does love cats enough to go out of her way to make a shelter from the cold for them.

"vice versa" makes this statement convey that if they have animal ears, their human ears are fake; but, since the animal ear is fake if they have human ears, that means any character with fake animal ears also has fake human ears, making both their ears fake.
TLDR: "Vice versa" here doesn't make sense and should not be used this way.

oh damn 😭😭😭

Her hair isn't even shaped like cat ears, they are bamboo shoots (her skin ones are cat ears though)
PandiTati2026-01-08 11:28
Her hair is quite literally meant to look like horns/ears. She wears a variation of traditional Chinese hairstyle Niu Jiao Tou (牛角头), Ox horn hairstyle. Nothing in the game says anything about bamboo shoots. Modern variation of the hairstyle is literally called 'cat ear buns'. [Real life examples](https://imgur.com/a/lqfOGsL)

You can literally see its bamboo shoots, the folds on her hair match the in-game bamboo shoot item exactly, it does not match horns.
Her skin though is much more cat ear looking.

You're imagining things, my friend, and forcing your headcanon into the game. And also ignoring the connection of *Chinese game* to *chinese culture*, and the fact that on some official 2D art with her standard outfit her buns are deliberately drawn as ears and nothing like bamboo shoots. Again, there's nothing in the game that says she meant to make her hair look like bamboo, it's not even her favourite food or ingredient of it. But she does have a lore fitting reason to form her buns as horns/ears. [Comparison to genshin bamboo shoot](https://imgur.com/a/7VFWSDJ)
Her hair resembling bamboo shoots was a meme just like the new meme of Columbina's signature being shaped like Neuvilette's hair. But some people took it too seriously. Just look at her buns [from the side](https://imgur.com/a/uilvUwS)
