Okay i gotta say something about the Act 6 "drama"
Okay so i have been playing Avct 6 becouse i wanted to do it before Columbina releases and to get the primos
So i finally get to the part (the moon festival) that had tik tok, reddit and twitter up in flames
I just got to ask why excatly? People point out Columbinas lolipop scene but i didnt see it much more then just a weird VA direction plus it fits with what the festival represents for her, plus its legit the only "weird" scene why not focuse on all the other great moments she has? But no people got to reduce her to one singualr scene
Same goes for people saying that Arle somehow lost "aura" or whatever by being there and hanging around with Columbina and wearing cat ears...do yall just live in saddnes lol shes someone who was close to Columbina so she wanted her to have the best time while shes still with them plus its literally played as a comic relief thing
Like the AQ was so good it legit got me crying and wanting Columbina even more on my account but no people got to focus on 2 scenes that happen for 10 seconds in a 3 hour quest...this is why i i hate the community sometimes
Just wanted to share my piece of mind on this cuz when i saw the up roar at first i though it was the whole AQ just being "fan service" or whatever but the AQ is literally so good amd so sweet

There you go. That is a pretty big reason behind a lot of the 'criticism' people have.
\- Has no cultural knowledge or life experience
\- Relies on the male protagonist to explain the world
\- Quickly bonds with (and often falls in love with) the male lead
\- Is impressed by basic competence or kindness
Seems familiar? Doesn't take a genius to see why not everyone will like the way she's written. And denying that she is waifu bait is straight up delusional.
Not everyone that doesn't like current columbina is a fatuihq member
there's a whole contingent of people online, who it seems, play these types of games only to hate on them online
the fatuihq, queens of whatever subs, it's like they must know this game isn't what they want it to be and it will never be. hoyo has shown time and time again that yes there will be more female characters than males, there will be fanservice, they're not gonna give you evil playable characters, etc. etc.
yet they still play the game and endlessly complain when the thing that we all know is true turns out to be true. it must be honestly exhausting to just be constantly angry, I don't get why they don't just quit and go play a game they like
If capitano had a scene of sucking MC's lollipop while moaning would you focus on other great moments? Cause i would never look at him seriously again.
"to be a normal person sharing food with people you love"
I dont know what normal people eat a lollipop from someone like that but i know videos where that happens and i would be banned if i posted links to them here.
And the scene alone isnt even sexual at all shes eating a popsicle only thing that is weird is the sound and its clearly mean to just be eating sound?
If you see that scene as something sexual or as your suggesting somethoing out of 🌽videos i think thats a YOU problem
If you think they added a scene of a moon waifu sucking MC's lollipop with those sounds for any other reason than fanservice then it might be your first day of playing gatcha games. I don't care if someone enjoys it but let's call a spade a spade. Denying it is on the same level as "it's not fanservice, her powers only work when she's in a latex catsuit!". You may have forgotten what kind of company makes those games, in that case look at their previous creations.
But I think we'd probably see a more lighthearted side of him at the tea parties for example. Well, it's hard to imagine, but to some degree he probably isn't all stoicism all the time.
Oh but that's just one scene. Why would you focus on what fits or not and not concentrate on the beautiful scene of his sacrifice for natlan? He could even keep sucking the lollipop on the chair.
Becouse it wouldnt fit him? It fits her and her story , you might not like how it sounds but it fits her character while it wouldnt for capitano cuz he isnt like her?
He has been alive for hundred of years and is used to humans abd how they work cuz he is one, she on the other hand is someone who has been alone for hundred of years and is only now getting to see how people interact and live their lives and she wanted to feel included? Its really not that hard to understand
So you mean to say Neuvilette fits the lollipop sucking scene perfectly. I sure hope mihoyo is on their way to provide this emotional milestone to him.
He's detached because he's a judge and getting attached to someone could cause bias in his judgement. He CHOSE to be detached. But he also chooses the ones he likes to keep close.
Neuvilette would totally share a cup of water with a melusine, since drinking water is kinda his thing, as he also shared water with us, which would be almost equivalent with the lollipop scene.
Columbina had an entire arc about her detachment from people is because she was never seen as one by them.
At the end of her arc, by trying to conform to the social norms that she knows, she decides to share her food with us, because sharing food is also an act of love. It's also very important to distinguish the TYPE of love, because it clearly wasn't a sexual one. It was an act of gratitude for a friend, a way to express her feeling without straight up saying it. It was cute.
- Fatui overall are labelled as bad person by in-game population
- The Fatui trailer intentionally showed them as "threatening "
- We can't expect every players assume what Tartaglia, Scaramouche and other voices said about the Fatui were just a wrong assumption
Being toxic with comments is always bad, but blame and make fun on players because they got dissapointed is also bad. Fortunately I never care about Fatui.
The only person that comes close to that is Dottore. The rest are just being themselves. We don't know what that is until we meet them properly in the story. So far their behavior at the funeral still aligns with their behavior in game. Unless there's another trailer I'm unaware of.
I went and listened to Childe and Scara's lines about Bina and Arle and those aren't misusing either. Both find Columbina to be unnerving and she is. The Traveler and others have that experience. For Arlecchino, they think she's cold and ruthless still in line with how she's portrayed in the story.
genshin fans : SHE'S A BIBILICALLY ACCURATE ANGEL OMGG
i'm still here and i'm willing to go for it
But Genshin is a gacha game afterall, built on money spending. And Hoyoverse goes with the safest route, especially when it comes to their female characters.
But c'mon... The treatment of the fandom towards Fatui fans is just insane sometimes. From actual death threats towards Dottore fans to all this just because fans were dissapointed about certain takes. I'm all for a contructive criticism AND a constructive defense, but we gotta keep it civil.
There are three different Harbingers all out to kill the guy, along with the Tsaritsa *also* showing official disapproval of him and they’re still gargling Dottore’s balls.
It just seems that Sandrone/Arlecchino are there and didn’t get Columbina. Dottore too a lessor extent. Was it stated in the story that the Tsaritsa disproval of him? I thought she just called him back because of Arlecchino.
Just let Arlecchino have her cute side lol (even though she stated it's for Lynette)
lowkey that's how i filter "normies" from weebs (i am one of them) there has been so many moments and anime tropes in hoyo games in general that i was like "oh cool" like tsunderes like citlali and sandrone, or obessessive fans like vivian from zenless, or the gap moe of someone like arle in that scene and many more that i can't recall on the spot, just to then see reddit mald about it lmao
They still play the games made by otakus, of course… 💀
It feels like a lot of people still hate being 'discovered' that they like anime media as if it's before 2010, it's so weird to me, like, just accept it at this point.
I have another subreddit I frequent that's like this as well, people do anime community things with the game that's in an anime style, like shipping or comparing to other anime, and they are like 'omg this is cringe'.
Like, guys, you know what this artstyle is associated with, right?
It also parallels with Columbina who was concerned with how Lauma feels with those antlers. Arlecchino may never otherwise know what it's like being a cat person that Lynette is.
So I found it a pretty excellent scene. It still maintained a cheerful and whimsical atmosphere for the festival. Arlecchino ain't no Wanderer, and Columbina had friends. It can't just be Sandrone and poor cremated Rosalyne that Columbina was friends with.
I'm pretty sure Arlecchino knew that there was a time and place for ruthlessness and cold-bloodedness and it surely wouldn't be Moon Prayer night when she will say farewell to a beloved friend.
Instead, we should expect Arlecchino to show her ruthless side to Dottore. She's gonna go full super saipan on him and reap his soul, or just straight up memory wipe him and have him with 0 memory recollections like a newborn baby.
Was bina really even shown though? We got multiple people telling us she freaked them out, the red flower scene, then she never did anything remotely unnerving again.
"Let me ask: what should you do if you were to encounter a "damsel" who is oblivious and innocent at any given time, and unconcerned and unfeeling in any given situation? If it were me, I could at least challenge her to a fight. But if it were you... with your conscience, I would stay away from her."
He literally said we should stay away because of our conscience, not because she 'has something(bad)'
From what we know, out of all the Fatui, Columbina was closer to Arle and Sandrone. We also know that the Fatui Harbingers all generally have their own goals and treat each other like colleagues (save for the above exceptions), which can be an indicator into how they treat others - even Sandrone treated Columbina more like a colleague than a friend up until the recent AQ.
This would mean that Childe and Scara's impressions of Columbina can be extremely different. If all they've seen of her, is her using her abilities (which mind you were probably stronger given by the time we met her, her powers were weakening), they may have just noted that okay lets not get her mad I don't want to have to fight the power of a moon goddess without actually trying to understand her as a person.
When an author spends years building a character’s 'Legend' through the eyes of others, they are establishing a tonal contract with the audience. In every successful piece of media, when that 'Legend' finally steps on screen, the audience needs to see why that reputation existed in the first place.
Look at Nagato (Pain) from Naruto. He is the perfect counter-example to your 'unreliable narrator' and 'weakened powers' argument. The story didn't need to put him in a festival or give him a 'cute' hobby to make him deep; his depth was carved out of the very threat he posed. Or Madara.
The 'they just didn't understand her' excuse is a cheap way to bypass the danger the writers promised us. If the only people who 'understand' the Rank 3 Harbinger are the ones who see her as a lonely girl at a festival, then the Rank 3 title becomes a meaningless cosmetic tag. You can have both depth and tragedy without sacrificing the 'aura' of an antagonist. Hoyo chose to prioritize a 'safe,' marketable personality over the high-stakes worldbuilding they spent years setting up.
Claiming they are just 'unreliable narrators' is a complete misunderstanding of how narrative structure works. If every character's testimony is discarded as 'unreliable,' then the world-building ceases to exist because there is no ground truth.
There is a massive difference between a character being biased and a writer using multiple sources to establish a fact. When two vastly different characters, who have nothing in common except their faction and combat experience, both point toward the same conclusion (that Columbina is uniquely dangerous), that is a classic world-building tool used across all media worldwide.
In literature and film, this is called **triangulation**. It’s how an author builds a legend for a character before they appear on screen. If the writer intended for us to see her as a harmless 'clueless girl,' they wouldn't have used their two most battle-hungry characters to warn the player to stay away.
You are choosing to ignore the narrative scaffolding the game built for years just to justify a 10-second fanservice scene.
It’s actually the opposite of 'thinking': you are working backward from a flawed execution to try and find a genius reason for it. This isn't 'subverting expectations' in a clever way; it’s a tonal bait-and-switch.
True 'hand-to-mouth' feeding is exactly what this quest did: it took a complex, high-ranking antagonist and immediately gave her a tragic, 'lonely girl' backstory and a cute festival date to make her instantly likable and pull at the player's heartstrings. That is the most basic, literal way to sell a character. Real 'thinking' would be acknowledging that the writers abandoned years of consistent atmospheric buildup in favor of an easier, more marketable 'waifu' trope.
Anyway, I can't blame them; there aren't characters like those, only Wanderer is the closest one, and they "lost" one of those characters
I like Harbingers because they have some spice, some edge. Softening that edge doesn't add anything, it just makes them blend into the sea of already soft characters we have. And you can humanize an edgy character or even make them reasonable, without softening them.
When in practice of the ones we met her and Dottore seem to be the only really “evil” ones who are primarily antagonists (arle was kinda an antagonist but she helped more than she stopped)
I think the reaction is understandable, but also a little ridiculous. IMO, characters are at their best when they're multi-faceted. It seems idk, childish(?), to treat something like The Last Airbender's beach episode for example as character assassination because the bad guys got to play around with each other like normal people for a moment.
Edit: The lollipop scene *was* sus as hell, though. Ngl. That had me cringing and laughing at the fact that they went with *that take.*
And yea like i said i think the only weird thing with the scene was the noises tbh the meaning behind it is pretty wholesome
But this loud minority of what's already a minority group can still scream at you in social media. Sometimes they're not even paid actors.
The majority of the "drama" was just TikTok community and we all know genshintok lack media literacy, tbf they're mostly just kids or teenagers or worse, didn't play the damn story but they hate aether or hate hoyo. Don't take TikTok opinion seriously
Most people liked it
Don't worry about those opinions ans dramas that those people try to create, because it not worth you time listening to those people. I say enjoy the game as you want.
To add most of the times the same people that create that drama dont react when Lumine is in cutscenes and that alone shows that those people hate men in general or are insecure people that project their real life into game.
They just don't wanna admit that nod krai is peak cinema, and they'll just pick on anything possible
However, I think dismissing the backlash as just 'people focusing on clips' misses the actual issue. Even if we don't take the old voice lines literally, Childe and Wanderer spent years establishing a specific tone for her. It is entirely valid to expect menace from what we knew as the Rank 3 Harbinger for years. Maybe not full eldritch horror, but certainly not a 'waifu-coded' scenario where we feed her lollipops. To say people were wrong for expecting danger based on that setup feels a bit disingenuous.
The problem isn't just the 'cat ears' scene; it’s the whole framing. Her debut immediately characterized her as a socially inept, lonely girl who feels humanity is too transactional. While that makes her sympathetic, it doesn't deliver on the dangerous aura the writing promised. The festival stuff just exacerbated that feeling of 'softening' someone who we rightfully assumed is a villain for years too early.
People defend it by saying it gives her layers, but not every type of depth is good depth, it depends on context. Humanizing a character is fine, but when you prioritize making them relatable and 'misunderstood' over the threat they were established to be, it deflates the tension. Critics aren't mad that she has feelings; they're mad that the game sacrificed her menace to make her palatable."
It just shows that Arlecchino knows when to hold back. She knows that a festival would not be a time to be apathetic and distant from the festive and joyous atmosphere. It wouldn't be what Columbina wants. And I think it was pretty neat that it paralleled with Columbina and her concern over what Lauma feels like wearing antlers. Arlecchino did the same, showing concern of what Lynette feels like having cat ears.
So, what ruthlessness we would expect from Arlecchino would surely be what we are gonna get when it comes to retaliating against Dottore. She has no attachment or sympathy for Dottore. Arlecchino is gonna unleash her 100% on Dottore. I can sense it from her expression in that cutscene in the Luna IV livestream.
It was just a couple of lines of text and it still makes sense to this day, because she is a goddess after all. Childe and Wanderer both understands the power of a god, and it fits that they would be wary of her, specially when she wasn't exactly sociable.
>The festival stuff just exacerbated that feeling of 'softening' someone who we rightfully assumed is a villain for years too early.
That's the problem. People ASSUMED what she would be and got disappointed when it didn't met their expectations.
The cat ears scene is actually very good, because it shows that, even when she's trying to be soft, she's still stern. Arlecchino was never a monster. She cares deeply about her kids and is willing to turn a blind eye to them as we saw on her SQ, when she lets Lyney get away with his tricks while also letting Childe talk for a bit. Then later she vebally reprimands Lyney about not being exactly subtle and was even willing to test them during her fight.
The cat ears scene is cute and shows that "caring but strict father" side of her.
Like we *know* Childe and Arlecchino are good judges of character (Wanderer not so much tbf) and Arle in particular is very blunt and straightforward and wouldn't lead a description about her with "well she's weird"; yet they worked directly with her *while* Columbina is also directly, albeit awkwardly, trying to connect with the people around her for however many years, yet they don't know what her deal is (or even who she is, when one of their main bases is literally surrounded by Moon Maiden statues that are so accurate that in canon Columbina can't even go out in public without being immediately recognized) while the traveler goes from meeting her for the first time to learning her entire backstory and characterization in, what, 20 minutes of dialogue?
To me, it's plain as day that she was rewritten from her original concept and they ended up not wanting to cast her as a harbinger at all, so we ended up with the character we got; which is not a *bad* character, but not the one we were teased with.
Thank you. Hoyo knew damn fucking well what they were doing by trying to make her seem scary.
1- people doesn't even play genshin they just want to find any opportunities to shit on the game
2- people who wants the antagonist to be just pure evil (they skipped the story and lore just focused on the aura farming and fights) *even tho the only pure evil in teyvat is just the abyss ~~and maybe dottore~~*
3- people who just didn't like it
On the other hand, the crazy shippers aren’t making things any better. “They touched hands! Canon wife, meant to be together forever!”
And then they clash, and normal people wonder what on earth is happening.
As others said ignore it and enjoy the game how you want!
Oh no, the horror..
You're not gonna please them no matter what you do, unless you make the game into their fanfiction.
Whatever caused "flames" or drama, I promise that it's entirely stupid and meaningless.
Touch grass. Leave those toxic online spaces.
same as some stupid guy who said Furina is bad before last fontaine aq
Some of the games were fun, and I quite enjoyed the tarot reading part, as well as the banter between Columbina and Sandrone.
As for the most controversial scenes, they were certainly not for me. Perhaps I’m more sensitive as a woman who perceives these things in a different light, but we know *why* the sucking on a lollipop scene exists, no matter how innocent they try to write it. You’ll never get such a scene with a male character, for starters. As for Arlecchino’s cat ears, I just think that part was cringe, but to each their own.
Regardless of what everyone thinks, I wish people would just be respectful when discussing those stuff. Most of the drama came from how people reacted (sending hate to Columbina’s VA), not because people didn’t like the scene.
they forget that the Traveler has some villain side too (like killing the whole tribe in one of the World Quest)
Tsaritsa will probably have results at the end, but there won't remain a lot of fatuis.
Still think the Traveler's lollipop scene with the over-exaggerated slurping like she's trying to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop in 10 seconds was cringe AF though.
Other than that, it was a good patch.
That's a VA problem.
She sounds totally normal in Japanese dub. Like she was just exchanging food with a friend and that's it.
Tbh many of you people complains about story are stuff that comes from VA... If you find so much problems with your dub why are you using it. Common is it just because you can't read subs...?
The absolutely worst part was the main plotless plot about giving her a name. They've made up a mechanic that supposedly works based on superpowers of friendship instead of ANY rules of the world
1. Bina was disappearing quickly based on Teyvat not accepting her, ok
2. Bina HERSELF accepted her OLD name as her "real" name, so nothing happened outside of her head. If they really gave her a new name , it would explain at least something but
3. TEYVAT KINDA ACCEPTED HER? WHY?? That was stupid as hell, and so many other plot twists would've worked better but this one works against the game's lore so far. Could be simply underexplained, and I really really hope it was.
And yes, Dottore's appearance did fix everything anyway. An entertaining ending often means more than the main plot. So I agree it's not worth the drama around it
Teycat didnt accept her,Wtf you talking about?
it's just anchor to hold her live in this world,But Teyvat still rip her power
So unnecessary
I legit almost cried when Bina hugged Sandrone.
God I'm happy to not be on social media all the time... The community nonsense can destroy your experience. Better talk about stuff when you already finished it... And not try to "hype" or "doom" yourself with the other people, when you are doing the same thing at the same time.
I'll admit I didn't care for the festival stuff either, but I'm biased because the Sinners stuff is something I've been wanting to delve into for a very long time and it ended kinda abruptly. A little TOO abruptly.
Sandrone became an ally too quickly and the plot with the frostmoon scion joining the fatui kinda went nowhere
Columbina was instantly friendly with us despite us killing her friend
The bureau and the big fatui base was an enemy base for one version, then we started visiting like they were our friends
I like what they did with childe where he was a villain first then became friends with the traveler
I don't mind the festival but i wish they used these characters more
Another perk of unfollowing everything Genshin-related whenever a new patch drops.
For years hoyo has been doing this bizarre thing where they set up the fatui as one of the main villainous groups, having the traveller treat the grunts with hostility, drip feeding info about how their boss is the biggest and scariest bad guy, only to have us befriend the harbinger immediately after they show up because they need to be playable.
Childe, Arlecchino, and now Sandrone and Columbina, it’s just a continuation of what they’ve been doing. Scaramouche probably also counts but I give him a pass for being hostile for way longer than all the others. Capitano would have counted but he’s dead and unplayable.
Who remembers that part in Fontaine where the traveller gets really angry with the magic twins when they’re revealed to be fatuus, only to go “omg bestie hiii” when Childe shows up soon after.
Honestly, I don’t get anyone 99% of the time. Story fun. Even if I disliked it I wouldn’t comment, it’s just a story not everything will be to everyone’s tastes and also loads of people will have unique ideas, but all that matters is the actual reality. Enjoy it for what it is, or don’t, either way the world keeps spinning and live moves on, an opinion is just a falling leaf on bloomed tree
You're on the internet, and sadly, that's how it usually goes. People find something that they don't like/distasteful to them specifically/weird/uncommon, they'll voice out their complaints about it even though most of the stuff around that supposed "issue" is done well.
Also, some people don't like "too much progress", which is why Arlecchino's activities during Moon Prayer Night seemed so out of place, as if she can't even try it considering that she'd been taking care of many children before and have seen them play. I'd agree with the complaints if we saw Dottore do those things, but Arlecchino? Why not?
After seeing 1 year of Natlan drama, I can confidently say that for those people, the answer is "yes".
