The tone shifting in writting.
reminder if you genuienly feel genshin writting after 5.x feels different.Thats not mean the writting gone downgrade, thats cause the tone shifted in a new direction thats not what you expected.and some guys needs to accept it.your favorite faction or character might not act as same narratively like before.

also I fucking hate the "morally gray" shtick that's happening with Rerir or any form of anagonist. the term itself is very igorning towords anything that happened or is going to happen in a story, and is never accompanied by anything that adds towords what the character was saw as. the morality of a character isn't unknown to the community. just read the story and deduce the morality of the character yourself based on what you percieved. even then the term is still very deappreciating because the people being called morally gray are always very morally complex characters, deserving of longer descriptions when it comes to explaining their morality. people just rely on the term because others say it, and because they don't have anything to add. this isn't specfically directed at Rerir, but the characters being called Morally Gray need something longer like "this is character is doing good for Teyvat, but in very immoral ways. for example he saved 8 people's lives but he had to kill an innocent one for it. the thing is, he is genuinely convinced that he is who does good deeds for Teyvat, and that his methods aren't cold-blooded in the slightest. he doesn't think the deaths he inflicts are regretful and cold-blooded things because he grew up his whole life seeing people dying left and right around him to the point of growing numb to it. his methods are very questionable, and he is being hunted by the whole world for it, but he doesn't care about it because fighting the people actively hunting him won't benefit anyone, and because he doesn't mind death anyway for he has spent his past 30 years without a clear purpose, and thinks he has nothing to lose out on in life for it.". small reminder that this isn't Rerir. but for this hypotheical character, "morally grey" silences so much great writing points in the character. describing him as whole brings a whole lot of him in the discussion and not just a vague description. it brings up what is good and what is bad about what he does, how those things are bad and how they are good, an extra trait that decsribes his morality (the fact that thinks he is the good guy here) and brings up why he is this way in the first place(his past), and bringing up why doesn't care about the peope trying to kill him brought up even more about him, which is the fact that he doesn't fear or mind death anymore because seeing everything and everyone cherish before him left him unguided in life without a clear goal to achieve for their sake. of course going so deep with discussing a character will make more people more eager to chime in with their own takes that may slightly obvious, things like "he also has trust issues from all the deaths, we see him turning down the Travellar every time that offer to help, and not even letting them get close.". again this is NOT Rerir. but I feel like the people ignoring every twist and turn and reason and motivation on the actions of an antagonist and just reducing it to "yeah he is morally grey" and leaving it at that don't know anything beyond the name of a character. it even reads like an Ai's response because Ai types like this, it always backtracks on whatever it says a few words later. "this character is a good person. but HEY HEY HE'S ALSO VERY BAD NOW DON'T DOWNVOTE ME FOR HAVING A POLAR OPPINION TO YOURS"
We learned Lumine was working with the Abyss Order in 1.x. The whole "Find your sister" shtick ended there.
Mavuika DOES have a tragic backstory to a degree. She had to leave all her friends and family behind to go into the future, and also broke doing it.
How is Neuv "Neutral"?
The sinners are not Morally Grey. Lmao. We saw Rerir doing some Third Reich crap.
source: King Irmin
It's definitely the case, though, that he wouldn't have warned the king off of the path he was following. In his mind, whatever the king wants, the king will get, and the only thing that folks like him can do is try to keep his favor.
2. How are the sinners morally grey? Rerir might be considered tragic, but in no way morally grey. Neither is Gold or Surtalogi. Ved is being portrayed as a villian since his introduction (even if it's from Dain's POV) and we literally just learnt our first bits on Hroptatyr and he's quite literally called out by Rhine as slimy and, personally, think he could have had a big role in orchestrating most of abyss related events in Khaenri'ah
3. Mavuika is morally strong DESPITE her tragic backstory, not erasing it. She left her family, had to watch the heroes die and let other people die for her goal
4. Aside from "Finding our sister" not being a real "Goal" since we will be reunited, as we're literally told to journey the world as she once did, Traveler literally constantly tries to convince our sibling to just leave and not care for what is going in Teyvat.
5. And Fatui portrayal only changed from side content to main content. We knew about SIgnora's tragic past since the start of the game. We knew a lot of Scara story even before Sumeru. Arlecchino is still morally grey
The comment about 5.x also makes no sense cuz we quite literally just were told that big stuff gets planned 1-2 years in advance and stuff we see in Nod-krai was supposedly already planned in Fontaine (which is corroborated by timely introduction of Perinheri and Arle lore at the time, which was the stand out at the time)
