Treasure Compass Update

Do you think Hoyo will make an update to the treasure compass for other regions to make exploration easier, so that their compasses work similar to the nod krai compass?

Personally i think they have every reason to. Implementing a new compass sytem would give a reason for old players that are overwhelmed with the current state of exploration to come back. What your guys' opinion?

I think they eventually might but probably not anytime soon. I would expect it at earliest towards end of version depending on how many people ask for it as they often focus on QoL more in those patches.

Personally I have the opposite issue, I want them to also make the new mechanic to be optional. :( I really liked exploration and it feels like it is holding my hand a little bit too much with flat out marking everything with one click. If they made some toggle on the function so both groups get their preference it would be awesome.

I refuse to use the treasure in this pathetic "toddler-friendly" mode so they can do what they like with it, I'll never equip it again.

You do have to find a good chunk on your own first. It’s more for cleaning up without having to scour the map.

Hope so! Just yesterday I used the compass on a whim in Stormterror’s Lair and found a challenge marker I didn’t notice in the last 5 years.

Honestly the main issue I have with the compass is the fact that its range is so small and its so unspecific. Even if they changed it so that the compasses can act over the whole of a region like the nod krai ones and actually mark where its showing you would be nice.

It….does mark where it’s showing you. It even marks whether it’s a chest or something else. They made that improvement ages ago.

Wow, i didnt actually realise that. Im one of the players that quit cus exploring everything new after having a break was too overwhelming so ive only just gotten back into exploration. Havent used the compass since i havent needed to yet and only just finished nod krai.

Yeah, Nod-Krai has the "upgraded" version where it just ends up showing you everything (which I actually don't really care for) but the other nations will put a mark on the map for whatever treasure (or mora collectible rock pile or time trial) it senses. You also don't have to wait for it to cooldown once you get whatever it's pointing to, you can just use the compass again right away unlike the earlier version.

I found one randomly in Liuye, no compass either, just sitting there smack dab center of the screen while farming enemy drops.

I must have passed by like 500 times and all of my Liuye is at 100%.

Would I want that? Absolutely!

Do I think Hoyo will make a retroactive change to their other region compasses? Absolutely not.

They made Focused mode but only implemented from that patch onward. Any content before that patch? Get fucked and suffer; how dare you assume such a qol improvement to the story would be implemented cohesively. That's for new hoyo games.

Exploring areas pre-Nod-Krai is a total chore, since so much stuff is missable. The interactive map helps but can get overwhelming, especially in Sumeru and Fontaine where there are multiple layers. Nod-Krai was the most fun I've had in Genshin when it comes to exploring as I didn't have to stress missing anything, so I truly hope they go back and boost the compasses of past regions to be as helpful (who the hell thought it was a good idea for a Compass to only track one chest a time anyways).

I would like it to be optional upgrade. I know many people loved it, but Nod Krai compasses ruined my exploration fun by being too op

I prefer the compass to only show nearby chests/ a couple of items, so I can use it if I'm stuck, but it doesn't take away all the discovery.

Exploring is my favourite part of the game, I have 100% every area (except 2 mondstadt ones) without using guides. I have used the other regional compasses to help me, but as they only show limited and local results there will still be a lot of things left to find. Coming across chests that I've missed is one of the most fun things about exploration- I never made the anemo compass and I found three chests on dragonspine during the recent event.

Nod Krai feels incredibly dull in comparison to every other region because I know that there is nothing left and there's a very minimal potential for finding missed items in the open world. I tend to explore anywhere else for this reason.

Going forward I don't want the options to be never equip the compass and get no help at all or use the compass and reveal absolutely everything everywhere at the same time. I'm happy for others to have it if they want it though, just please make the upgrade optional

I understand where youre coming from even though i disagree.

With the nod krai compass you do have the option of just not upgrading it past the second level and then it wouldnt be op, however then you cant claim the rewards. I guess its somewhat of a choice as long as you arent desperate for the primos/wishes whatever the rewards were.

Yeah with first set of meeting points I didn't realise how big the impact would be until I'd done it. With the new regions, I guess I'll leave it at the lowest level or maybe one upgrade as you suggest. Then when I'm nearly at 100% exploration and have found all the oculi I could finish the upgrade & try to avoid the temptation to use the compass.

The meeting point quests and content next patch, will decide how easy it is for me to leave it unfinished. It looks as though they've made the reputation system even more integrated into the main story with the light keepers faction in the next area. I try and play the story content of each patch immediately after it comes out to avoid spoilers, so I'll see how it goes.

I'm an old man that made many posts for the interactive map to update when collect non-renewable resources. I'd be just as happy for an updated compass, but that won't happen for ages, if ever.
