If you could go back and give your "newbie self" some gacha advice, what would it be?
I’ve been playing since launch, and looking at my roster, I have some regrets lol
If I could talk to my Day 1 self, I’d say.. Skip "Klee, Childe, Ayato, Cyno, and Clorinde" And instead use those wishes for Xiao, Wriothesley, Chiori, Arlecchino, and Kinich
I originally skipped those 5 and now I’m kind of kicking myself for it.
What about you guys? Which characters do you regret pulling, and who do you wish you had picked up instead?

All my other 5*s ive been happy with.
If only i could say "Skip c1 Qiqi" hahaha
None. Genshin isn't my first gacha so I understood I would need to upgrade whoever I pulled. My only regrets are not learning how to calc my own damage or use tools like YSHelper earlier, and pulling Hunter's Path for Ganyu. It's only better for Melt on Spreadsheets.
I'd say my main mistakes were farming artifacts domains before AR45, and maybe picking Barbara as my first char to level to lvl 90 while a DPS would have liked the resources invested better at the time.
No one i regret pulling, i like all my chars, at least i'm very strategical about my fates usage.
Definitely going for Skirk and Lauma rerun whenever they will show up, now that i know them better, i like them a lot and they will benefit my other characters already acquired (Yelan/Nefer) or planned to acquire (Columbina/Escoffier/Furina).
Invest in your favorites and forget everything else.
Its a full circle thing trying to get the new shiny toy grinding primogems if you dont have any personal attachment to it. Worst is if you dont even like them as a character. Fomo can suck bad
Never regretted any character that i got I just wished i got Emilie when i first started didnt even know what pity was. Is what it is who knows how different the playing experience would have been.
Even casually playing up to floor 12 is a joke (as most players dont attempt floor 12 anyway) given enough time on an account lets be real missing out on such a small number of pulls isnt worth it. Stygian takes 5 mins, IT is IT but that all goes to one thing and thats pulling for a limited 5 star or their constellations or their signatures.
I'd rather it be towards my favorites no matter if im left with 3 characters
My perspective on the game has vastly changed after I 36 starred the abyss last cycle. That was my clear objective but i was totally wrong.
Its clear to me its about the characters and the game itself. Gacha can suck you in dont fall for it
Im happy I didnt. Going back to my roots working on crowning and upgrading my first real team on my main account Jean, Kaeya, Barbara and Ineffa.
I only used her once (in that raiden trial fight back in inazuma)
Literally cant with her dash, it messes with my brain and I miss my dodges and such.
Sadly I also have Shenhe (tho that was a really lucky pull)
Pull Ineffa and Chiori <3
* Don't build Lisa, as soon as you get through fighting the Oceanid to level Xingqiu, you'll never use her again.
* Although characters are obviously separated by weapon, that doesn't matter. Their separation by element matters more, but the thing that matters most is their separation by team role. Get used to using healers, it's so much more convenient than food or statues.
* Ultimately Kazuha will be powercrept by Xilonen, you don't get enough total usage out of him to really justify pulling for him.
* Enjoy Sumeru while it lasts. Just like you guessed, later areas have been amazing, but they never hit Sumeru heights again.
F the Oceanid
newbie me.. was so dumb
Don’t pick up the xp book over the mora in the pot
Don’t overinvest into 4 stars and waste mats
Record more early game moments
I'm satisfied with what I've built on my account, and love the story, music, characters and world building, but a part of me can't let go of the daily primos + Welkin & BP. I try my best to just do those few minutes of resin use for the daily rewards, but most of the time I stick longer, searching for something to do when there's no content (already 100% the whole map, got all possible achievements, etc. Been playing since 1.0) and lose a whole morning. Then feel guilty for not doing my chores , or taking care of my body, or learning something new.
At least I managed to never buy genesis crystals, and have been very disciplined with wishing.
I want to see the Teyvat Chapter through to the very end, but if I could choose, I'd like to have never played a gacha. Genshin is my first and will be my last.
ayaka ayato albedo itto lyney wanderer wanderer (yeah twice)
literally only used albedo for the tree glitch early into the game
ayaka i dont like at all
ayato didnt work the way i wanted him to work with yoimiya
itto is just shit since ever
lyney i actually didnt use at all (except for overworld item finding)
and wanderer is wanderer.. no need to explain
375 pulls would be amazing to have rn or i would have invested them into more chascas idk
- "Don't pull for Hu Tao or Alhaitham."
- "Don't pull any pyro carries, the pyro archon will be your favorite pyro dps by far."
...I experienced a gambling problem for the first year (2024) and a half of my first starting genshin. I had never encountered a gacha game before and caught the worst case of FOMO I'll ever have. Once I figured out what currencies were in the game and understood I could buy them outright my problem started. Nahida was the first character I bought crystals for, I don't regret pulling her though.
I got better lol, I don't whale like that anymore unless I actually want the signature weapon.
In retrospect I might not have vertically invested so much in Itto (now c4r1), and just stuck with a fully c0r0 roster. Or I might have skipped a few more DPSes to just bring Itto to c6.
