Anyone else wish they could know when reruns of characters will happen?

Yes, I am specifically talking about this man right here. I'm a new-er player, and although I've followed the game for a year and have watched all the archon quests, story quests etc. through videos, I only actually downloaded the game a few months ago. Which means, unfortunately, I missed Lyney's debut, two of his reruns, and the banners for all my other favourite characters.

I know Genshin likes to keep us on our toes and surprise us with who runs when, but it'd be nice to know when his next rerun will be for a couple of reasons. Considering that I'd like to have enough pulls saved when his banner comes around for a guaranteed Lyney and enough pulls to trigger 50/50 on his weapon banner, which is a LOT of saved primos. However, we don't know when his next banner will be, so I don't know if I'll have plenty of time to save up, just enough, or even enough time that I'll be able to get some other five star characters I really like. There's just so much uncertainty and room for regret- if I end up pulling for characters, I might not have enough to get Lyney, or if I don't and Lyney comes around with primos to spare, then I'll probably regret not going for other characters. Anyway I'm probably overthinking all this, but let me know your thoughts if you have any!

That's just how it goes. If you're saving for a certain character. The best way is to save up 180 pulls and then never drop below that.

I personally set aside 160 per character since hard pity at 90 is almost impossible and and there's also starglitter from dupe 4stars. Though with my pull planning, I never even got below 180 pulls when the character I planned to pull released since HuTao. I bought a couple welkins and converted the genesis crystals to get her.

as an Arknights player, where i could know the prograss of the game ahead by 6 monthes because the global server is behind the CN by 6 monthes, it's NOT great at all. the element of surprise is pretty much ruined, and you'll find yourself looking forward to what is coming in 6 months instead of what you have by a lot. I didn't feel much hype at all for a while since I was anticpiating every event that was about to come, and already knew what it will be about. ever since I interracting with the subreddit, all the events began to feel hype again. even if we ONLY have rerun info, that still kinda spoils it for us. for example, you would know it's the Alice update if Klee suddenly got a rerun. or better yet, youll just see Alice and a bunch of harbingers in the banner info too.

the best way I could bring the same feeling to you is with an example like this:

"Oh wow Mondstadt is gonna get expanded? let's go! I was waiting for the Harbor expansion for so long."

*6 months later...*

"what update is this again? oh. Mondstadt is bigger now I guess. well whatever, how long is it until Snezhnaya releases? 5 months? cmon man, I'm so hyped for that instead. I wanna beat the Tsaritsa already."

I used to play FGO with a 2 year heads up and it was great.

You could start pulling for characters that you know will be meta years in advance.

Global released 2 years after JP, so we got a 2 year heads up on future content.

Everyone knew exactly which DPS was going to fall off, and which seemingly crappy DPS was about to get a new meta support that would elevate them to top tier.

If you didn't care about meta and just loved a particular character, you got 2 whole years to save up for them.

It was great, and it can get even better - Umamusume Global is working with, like, a 4 year heads up.

Lyney is one of those outdated characters that Genshin wont rerun again. Your only hope is to wait for the Fontaine Chronicled Wish banner which hasn't been announced yet, so I would guess that yeah, you will have enough time to save

Dude we do know when reruns happen and that's when the devs tells us when. It's been like that for 5 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lyney and most of the other Fontaine characters didn't rerun again until the Fontaine Chronicle wish, whenever they decide to do one of those.

We just have too many characters for them to get timely reruns sadly and Hoyo still hasn't made 3 banners the norm or made CW more common for some reason.

Your best bet is to set aside around 160 wishes just for Lyney. Don't touch them no matter what.

If you really want his weapon set aside another 140 for that.

You can still wish for other characters, just don't let your wish count go below 160 (or 300 if you really want to guarantee the weapon).

While you wait for a character re run you can build their team so on their release you can play them immediately. Like if I was a Lyney wanter, I would look their team up and see: oh their best current team is Chevreuse Fischl Durin, and then plan to get those characters while holding 160 summons for Lyney.

Unpredictable banners exist for a reason: It boosts FOMO, and pushes people to make purchases impulsively rather than rationally.

The point is, you don't know how long it'll be until the rerun, so if you miss this opportunity to pull them, it might be over a year until you can try again.

If you don't want to gamble with that, crack open your wallet and give Mihoyo your cash.

If they aren’t an archon they aren’t rerunning more than a few times anymore and then you gotta wait for the chronicle banner of their region. Natlan chars might get one more round of reruns before that fate, but that is a big might.

Just save the pulls first and then you're good. No matter what you have to keep X amount to get what you want.

if you've been around for a while, you can make educated guesses. There are some patterns they have followed mostly consistently. It's not 100% foolproof, but you get a rough idea.
