Just finished this quest and I feel empty now

So I decided to finally do this quest just because I've read that it unlocks a dialogue with Sandrone during the Archon quest. And damn did it really leave a mark on me. I played it slow and decided not to rush it, and you know that feeling you get after finishing a book, where you feel like the characters had slowly become your friends? That's exactly how it felt. When it was finally done, I felt like they also left me when they >!went on their journey.!< The only proof left that they even existed is >!Lanoire,!< and >!The book of esoteric revelations!< which luckily you can still meet and interact with after the entire quest is done. Hopefully we get an update on them when Sandrone finally releases.

P.S. I found it funny how >!there are three Mary-Anns now being Mary-Ann(Lyris+OG Mary-Ann's consciousness), Ann, and Sandrone.!<

Fyi you can now use the Sword of Narzissenkreuz, and can change it's arkhe between pneuma and ousia by interacting with the fountain in Annepause.

Also I never found out who the hydro eidolon guy we killed up in an air platform at the end of the whole thing was, they were probably also involved.

The Hydro Eidolon used to be a man called Mr.Eliphas. He was a member of the Narzissenkreuz Ordo. He was a generous supporter to the Ordo and a reseacher. One notable invention of his was named after himself the Eliphas Beams. He later became a Hydro Eidolon as part of Rene plan.

It's called the narzissenkreuz questline by the community. You need to complete 3 separate World Quest chains called:

* Ancient Colors( Starts next to the pond near the Elynas statue)
* Unfinished Comedy( get caught by the searchlight of the Meropide fortress. If you have finished Fontaine act 3 you can just talk an npc called Darcy, he's in the Administrative Area)
* Ann of the Narzissenkreuz( auto triggers if you approach the teleport way points underwater west of Court of Fontaine).

After completing all of these(along with some WQs that automatically starts and is very short), you can unlock the final world Quest chain called In the Wake of Narcissus, which starts rightafter the small WQs I mentioned, and the starting location is a spoiler so I'm not including that

Her body then fused with Lyris, which is where Mary-Ann Lyris comes from.

Whereas all the Melusine (except Pashiv, shes special) are born from Elynas.

I think the Narzissenkreuz is on the same tier as Jehts questlines in terms of personal investment. Both are so enjoyable, I took my time and played at my own pace and it was a wonderful experience

nod krai itself also has a shit ton of simulanka refernces and even has a literal natlan dragon ruin on hiisi that's teased by ineffa weapon lore and the end of her quest. apparently that was a launch pad for the failed 4th moon/nifelheim project.

Hoyo really wants people to get into the lore, but no one wants to read the books or do world quests so they're bringing it up in the AQ so people get interested.

This series of WQs honestly put Sandrone at the top of my list for my most anticipated character. Beyond the fun characterization in Nod Krai, there's a lot of unresolved mystery surrounding her and I really hope we get a chance to fully explore it in the future.

While we're here, I also have to mention how nice the Narzissenkreus OSTs sound.

When I first saw that photo of Sandrone I almost fell over and refused to believe that wasn't her/connected to her. Sandrone was my favourite Harbinger just from the first time we saw them together in the Lazzo trailer. I thought she was going to be in Fontaine. At some point while there I was scouring Mary-Ann Memorial Park for any crumb of lore about her. Feels surreal that she's finally in the game. I can't wait for her release patch.

Depends on which theme of the story are you looking at it. It's about children from an orphanage who yearns for the nostalgia of the past, or also an esoteric organization that's dead set on stopping the doomsday.

A lot of what they do set the motion for the Fontaine Archon Quest in the background

Well meaning but Oceaniad brained pretend humans used the teyvat version of the aztec doomsday 2012 prophecy to figure out when the world was going to end and tried to save themselves from the sin of being created by copying king deserit's technology without understanding that it had been sabotaged by forbidden knowledge and thus turned themselves into abominations but nobody really cared or noticed because Khaenri'ah happened.

For me, what makes this quest so valuable is that it does a great job of showing a fall arc, where the hero turns into a villain, but at no specific moment can I say, “This is where he did something evil, and this is the turning point.” Everything happens very naturally, because René’s motivation is always focused on saving.

It's a little sad that these massive "side" quests, aren't treated like the archon quest, fully voiced and everything. They add so much depth to the world and often are as important as the archon quests in understanding what's going on.

On the other hand, not being voiced does mean they're free to make them as long as they want without having to consider things like voice actor payment (and recruitment for all of the characters) - if not being voiced is the trade off for long and involved quests that dive into some pretty dark waters, then I'd take it.

Do the quest for Sorush as well if you haven't yet. That's the very first mention of the Narzissenkreuz if I recall correctly. There are some interesting bits there that make the Fontaine quest chain clearer too. It's in Sumeru's second desert area.

This is imo the best integrated world quest in all of genshin - it's woven throughout the entire region and echoes into the present day. There have been a lot of good world quests but none quite as large in scope as this one. I'm glad you liked it! I feel like people sleep on the world quests because they aren't voiced, but the world quests are where the writing can really shine.

man fontaine WQs were something else, with this being my favourite of all the quests in game. the obvious inspiration from fairytales and Alice in wonderland aside, the osts, the stupid adventure team, the overworld designs only added to magic of the storyline. when the 4.2 trailer released, despite the hydro archon death sentence spoiler i was so so focused on the doomsday clock falling in the ordo room instead. goated quest wish i would play it for the first time again. Annapausis is my fav thing to revist in game.

also, if you enjoyed this maybe consider checking out the remuria questline as well, def has that same fairytale-esq vibe to it.
