i'm sick and tired of all my teams doing sub par damage, barely holding on in overworld; I have more than half of the entire character rooster. I don't understand theorycrafting; the current artifacts desc. is barely intelligible to me, can anyone I beg give me teamcomps and builds for this

I'm now roughly a year into my Genshin journey and I was at a loss as well first but after learning about Keqingmains I learned how to properly build characters and team as there is just so much good info about it there
Switching from Geo normals (Noelle) to elemental reactions (hyperbloom) was a huge game changer for me.

Aside from that, as long as you understand the basics of basics for team building, you should be fine. Namely;
* Don't run a team of all DPS units, bring at least one healer/shielder to stay alive
* Furthermore, make sure you don't bring only DPS units that are on-field DPSs. You can have one on-field DPS backed up by supports off-field, but if you have two characters that don't do anything unless they're the active character, then they're fighting for field time.
* For example Nefer. For her to do anything, she has to be on-field. Then if you pair her with Alhaitham who is basically the same, now you are only doing damage with EITHER Nefer or Alhaitham, whichever is currently on field. Whereas if you swap Alhaitham for Aino, well now Aino's burst keeps working even after she swaps off, so both Nefer and Aino are being effective at the same time.
* Avoid running a team of all one element, 1) it means you don't get stuck unable to kill slimes and 2) reactions are the core of the game, so if you aren't using them then why play Genshin over Elden Ring or something
* Have at least some thought for what Elemental Reactions you're doing, and some idea what they do. No point running Nefer in a Burning team, because her kit revolves around Blooms. No point running Lisa DPS with Superconduct, because Lisa doesn't deal Physical damage.
And yeah, if you want to make 'good' teams, pick one DPS character that you like (and ideally have levelled), go to [keqingmains.com](http://keqingmains.com) and read their guide, at least the teams section, and do your best to make a team with who you have.
Or, if you want to list maybe 2 or 3 characters you like, I can suggest some teams. But I'm not gonna teach you the entire game in an evening, just get you started.
Edit: [Kryand](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5IADOamvgc) has several good guides, including this one about team building. It's very rapid-pace information overload, but just pause and try to read through the harder bits, or at least try to get the basics down.
Keqing - Furina - Yaoyao - Nahida. Comfortable exploration skills and 3 elemental damage types.
Mizuki - Ororon/Fischl - Furina - Layla/Dehya. could also be comfy, you will have heals and a shield/Mitigation depending if you use Layla or Dehya.
Your main issue seems to be a lack of high quality sustains Like Escoffier would open up a Ayaka - Shenhe - Furina - Escoffier team for you. (you can try with Diona tho)
You also have a premium Tao team at your disposal, Hu Tao - Yelan - Xinqui and then just add a shielder like Layla.
As for builds refer to keqingmains, they are the most casual friendly builds, just follow their artefact sets + main stat suggestions.
Nahida/yelan/xingqiu/Kuki.
Make your Kuki level 90. Gilded dreams for Kuki, want all EM pieces. Deepwood for Nahida. They come from the same artifact domain. Look up a "hyperbloom" team guide.
Look at Keqingmains website like others say.
Other teams:
Hutao/yelan/furina/jean.
Nefer/Aino/Nahida/yaoyao
You need a Lauma btw. For your Nefer, for your nilou, for your Nahida hyperbloom team. Need a Lauma really bad.
