What do you think of Paimon?
Started playing three months ago (AR50) and as the story progresses I’m getting more and more suspicious of Paimon 🤨
Who is she and why isn’t there more like her? Why aren’t other characters sus of her if she seems to be the only “fairy” or whatever? Will she betray the Traveler at the end? Etc etc
I’ve read a lot of theories and don’t know what to believe, so I’m wondering what are people on here thinking about her.

I like to think she has no interest in betraying us, she has no reason to, we saved her life when we fished her out and ever since the scene in Inazuma with Raiden almost killing us the first time it showed that she cares a lot about us.
I really don't get Paimon haters tbh.
Imo the main source of hate comes from the old VA doing a banshee impression whenever the script had Paimon get angry, be it actual anger, a "hey, that's my snack!" or a line that's supposed to make players go "daww she's so cute when others tease her!"
As soon as Paimon got a new VA it felt SO much better because it felt like I could properly immerse myself in the character and just enjoy Paimon as Paimon. Now it's gotten to the point that I love Paimon so much I feel like that "If anything happened to X I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself" meme about Paimon, haha :)
I love our little fairy companion now and never thought that could happen because I never thought they would actually recast for the game mascot without something REALLY forcing their hand like a VA going to jail or something. So happy I was proven wrong!
Also, she wears a big, poofy onesie diaper thing.
I don’t know if it is because the voice actor is expensive (kinda doubt that, they got Keith Silverstein who is pretty experienced), but either way just make it so we can touch our desire text dialogue
But we must never forget there was a time where we all loved old Paimon.
I hope we get more detective paimon again xD
I honestly believe paimon is much more than anything we know as per now. Like paimon is none of the thing we know YET
Perhaps she's Asmoday, to quote what Ronova said about her: "Unless... she loves her new master more than her own self..." That could fit Paimon, but I think there would have been more direct hints if she was the Shade of Space, or at least if she remembers being Asmoday.
But right now, we have no information about Paimon, and a sudden twist about her would not really fit the current story.

But to be fair it got a little bit better in recent times.
Saying all that I really hope she will betray us just to get rid of her, but that won't happen since she is already turned into Hoyos mascot.
They have at least started easing off of that more during Natlan/Nod Krai, but it's still both present and also was pretty bad for a decent majority of the game's content when played start to finish. The taste of We Will Be Reunited (where Paimon gets 90% of the dialogue when the two travelers meet on screen for the first time) has still not entirely washed out of my mouth 4 years later lol
otherwise, i don't hate her. she's cute and she's funny...sometimes. i think she's an angel.
But yes overall Paimon is the perfect little angel 🥰🥰
Hate having her in story quests, because she repeats and then re-repeats whatever was said in the last 3 lines. It’s pointless and unnatural, that’s not how conversations work. And no amount of repetition will help the 5-year olds who apparently need Paimon to babysit them every 2 minutes of other people talking. It ruins the whole point of dialogue auto-play because I have to continuously click to skip her sections which add nothing.

I've grown to like her more since the EN VA recast. Paimon is annoying sometimes and I guess that's part of the gig for her character, but the older high pitch voice just made those moments more unbearable for me. I remember particularly disliking her throughout Sumeru lol
Also I always get a feeling that Paimon is Hoyo's way to either explain the plot to me like I'm stupid (which is fair, the players don't read) OR tries to sell me the character and doesn't really allow the player to form opinions. "This person seems mean, but on the inside, they actually care!" like okay girl I get it their banner is nearby.
I know that I've said only bad things but those are not my main feelings towards her lol she's okay and sometimes really sweet. Lore wise, I actually hope she's not trying to betray us and was actually evil all along or something simply because it's a theory that's been going on for years and it would be kinda boring for it to be true imo.
Me and many others wasn't very found of the voice, but there are also people that didn't liked the previous VA due to their behavior online. I'm not sure what happened, but yeah, something happened lol

If you're looking for real answers, Ye she is suspicious, She has always been suspicious, u can find several unique NPCs talking strange things Abt her. Her clothes motifs also make her seem having ties to Primordial one...
They've still not addressed either on Travellers or her backstory yet, I feel like they will do it soon in 2nd half of Nodkrai- travellers quest or right after Snezhnaya
If I think about it, if something happens to the traveller the people of tevyat might hold a funeral or make statues but what happens to paimon?
She will eventually be forgotten by history and returns to the same life as before she met the traveller but now with grief.
No one to go to no one to guide.
Always scared that she might lose the only loved one she has
My personal issue is that she doesn't exist outside of the Traveller. Her Backstory is non-existant, we never meet anyone she knew before the traveller, she has no ties to the larger world to explain why she is the way she is. Which would be fine is they were willing to interrogate that and have a quest where we learn about Paimon. But it's been *years* and we know basically as much about Paimon as we did in 1.0. Coupled with her constantly speaking for the Traveler, repeating things that were just said to her, and Hoyo never letting her contribute anything material to our adventure, I just can't help but be disappointed.

I really feel bad for Americans and the fact that such a big country is incapable of producing good voice actors and probably has the WORST dub directors of the whole world.
You can all downvote of course, but if one day you learn a language like japanese, Spanish or Portuguese, you'll really understand what I'm talking about.

She just won’t stop talking and repeating everything 10 fucking time. And have to talk in third person! I HATE those type of characters!
In that one quest after Sumeru archon quest when she asked “traveler do you think I’m annoying” my immediate response was “YES” but well that wasn’t one of the dialogue options.
I would love a genshin impact mod without her. Or modify her so she isn’t a annoying piece of shit
Also she became super boring as she o ly has 3 things on her mind: mora, food and traveler
She is no longer a complex or important character she was until Inazuma.
But yeah paimon is the reason I could not play this game more than 2 months at a time.

the way she panics when she's separated from us makes me tear up every time - i was crying ugly tears at how scared she was in the sumeru AQs when the traveler disappeared, and how she flew into their arms at the end of the natlan AQs. nod-krai spoilers, unsure where you're up to OP, >!girl couldn't even eat or sleep right because the traveler was exhausted after banishing rerir! those are her two favorite hobbies and she was so upset that we weren't there with her!!<
i don't think she's gonna turn out evil, but i do want some more explanation of what the hell she is. a young angel, somehow born after every other angel became a seelie?

Paimon shares a very important feature with two incredibly important groups; the Four Shades and the Archons. Like the Shades and the Archons, she is named after one of the demons found in the ars goetia, and the fact that she is called Paimon in specific is quite telling. Paimon is one of Lucifer's most loyal servants, and the fact that she is very loyal to Aether/Lumine, who is a fallen star (Lucifer being a fallen angel, who is often called The Morningstar) is incredibly interesting. I am looking forward to learning more about this aspect of the story.
However, from a writing standpoint, I genuinely cannot stand Paimon. It isn't an issue with her voice either (I have been playing in CN this whole time) it's the fact that rather than being a companion character, she often takes up the most space in the story, rather than letting our protagonist be their own voice. I hate that aspect of her, and I really do think that if I had a chance to remove her from the game, I would.
