My thoughts on the Columbina situation

While i would have liked her to draw the rest of the characters(hope the quest fixes that) it's sad to see that Traveler's role is underestimated

First let's talk about The Harbinger ladies, although they knew each other longer they didn't have the relationship that's similar to Collei,Tighnari and Cyno(that's the best comparison I could think of.) She didn't realise the bonds they actually shared until earlier and who came into to her life for her to start realising unsurprisingly it's the Traveler(shocking I know). Knowing someone for longer doesn't mean the bond has to be stronger it means they are chances to be stronger. Knowing someone for a short time doesn't always guarantee a strong bond

Traveler is the light that showed her what true relationships are like. She saw how they treated her and her faith in humanity was destroyed. She saw there's a possibility. Traveler is the cog in the wheel. She thought if Traveler can have a bestfriend like Paimon perhaps she can too. Traveller is the sun who helped her see things much clearer.

The devs want to sell Columbina, that's why we went on a date with her, it was similar to what Honkai Star Rail did to sell Firefly.

It's like the devs are saying: pull her, she cares about you.

They showed the traveler because it was an advertisement and we, the player, are the Traveler. From an advertising perspective it would be weird for her to draw someone else. That's not to say that there isn't also a story reason that she might want to draw us. Especially if we consider that that drawing was all in her mind anyway and we would basically have been the last thing she "saw" before she ended up in that position, we'd probably be foremost in her thoughts and it would have nothing to do with how close she is or isn't to other characters.

A logical reason? Never though Id see it. But yeah Advertising is really just advertising. Like Personally I see The Travelers given they have a fleshed out character.
But yeah its nothing more than it was the last thing she saw & a person who showed her how to be closer with the people she cares about. More social & etc. She is learning to be more human & etc its heartwarming.
Also I like the idea that Varka taught her to draw

She's a marketable play thing catering to a demographic. No amount of "lore" or "story" changes the framing device.

Trying to work backwards to justify the use of the framing device, doesn't change the point of contention being the framing device to begin with.

It is annoying how people keep reducing her & her relationships to waifubait. Like let alone people are overusing that word to misrepresent any female character they don't like for xyz reason.
Columbina has shown zero romantic interest in us, like everything people use as evidence is her just being social inept. But she does care about us cause we helped her become closer to the people already cared about before, Sandrone especially but also with characters who she was indifferent on like Lauma.

I do like your sun comparison though OP its nice thought, though I think of the Traveler not as a Sun but a Passing Star, Can shine bright in darkness but they alone cannot light the way.

Im just tired of people who likely don't read the story or etc, or being apart of "that" vocal minority of phobes & etc that run rampant & to every post trying to make everyone else miserable & spread disinformation.
Like Hoyo games are the not ML games at all, does the marketing have hints sometimes & etc, & some characters rarely. Yeah its a wide appeal game, why do you think there are so much "gay" subtext in Hoyo Games, Where do you think they started from & mainly made lol. They throw bones to everyone, but mainly to ML? Nah definitely no that cope from a group of players who are a supposed "target audience".

Recently like past 2 years at least they have been throwing a lot more "Bones" to gay stuff in all their games. Not surprising given it is their roots.
