not sure what requirements youre worried about
Varesa is also very easy to use, mainly cause they put the two best teammates on her banner, and you just add some pyro
if you got friends insisting on Neuvillette, if you dont have an interest in Neuvillette, get new friends
insisting on ANY character for someone else's account is weird
Varesa with pyro like Xiangling, Iansan and Chev is really easy to use. i prefer pyro traveler but that requries story
youre so new, you can literally afford to get both her and Neuvillette
You have crapton of content before you, so worrying about Imaginarium, Stygian or Abyss Spiral just shouldn't be a thing for a while, so you don't need to start chasing meta before you even catch up with story and exploration.
If you had fun with character in trial, like their design, and want to have that character then pull for them.
Early game though, while you're progressing through AR ranks, there is at least one break point where the game can be difficult. That break point is around AR 45.
Before that point, (by design) any build and team is essentially shit made of scraps. You don't have many characters, the ones you do have are stuck at low lvls/talent lvls do to lack of access to the higher lvl materials. You're mostly using 3* artifacts with the occasional 4*s on your top characters. Not all, but many people aren't actively farming for good artifact sets because you're just going to have to replace them later and the game is literally so easy that you don't need to. Purely just based on stats alone, you do almost no damage. So the game balances accordingly and nothing feels too hard.
At AR 45 you unlock the ability to farm 5* artifacts. The game ramps up the difficulty fairly steeply at this point because it expects you to have more proper builds and teams.
Again, not everyone, but I've known people who quit here because the game doesn't really prepare you properly for the difficulty spike. It's gotten better, but in general how to build characters and teams is something you learn from resources outside the game.
So to the point, pulling only who you like can have a compound effect with this difficulty spike if you're unlucky. If the characters you pull end up having zero synergy or are heavily restrictive, it can just feel bad. Even when you start learning how to build properly, you may just not have the characters to build your first solid team.
My recommendation is to pull just 1 character that is low investment meta and if you want 1 support for that character, then switch to pulling however you like. In this case, Neuvillete is an excellent low investment character. Someone like Furina is a great low investment support character.
My over explanation might make it seem like I'm making a big deal out of this, but at the end of the day it really isn't that deep. There's no such thing as a bricked account, especially if you have friends that can help you. This advice is mainly just to make your transition from early game to mid-game and mid game to end game smoother.
However he NEEDS a shield or some form of interruption resistance or it is the most annoying experience of your life to play him. He is also not the greatest when you need high single target damage unless he has a stacked team of supporters.
His gameplay also gets really boring after a while, he suffers from the same issue Ganyu has.
Varesa is much easier to play and has more team options and is just overall more fun imo. but her combo can be messed up much easier than Neuvi, if you accidentally double skill or something.
But it does come down to personal prefrence.
Do you want a hold charge attack gameplay or plunge attack spam gameplay with Varesa skill attack attack skill attack attack burst combo.
Personally and this just my personal opinion
Ineffa > Varesa >>> Nuevilette
Ineffa = Requires the least amount of work to get going, shes my frst 5 star and i was in the exact position you are now. I cleared floor 11 of the abyss with 3 stars with just her, Barbara and Anemo traveller after a couple of days before when I was struggling to get 2. It doesnt sound like much but it was a huge deal. Shes abosolutely outright powerful for a new player. Barbara or Aino, Ineffa burst and skill and can walk around everything dies. And Sucrose is free thats a team right there day one. Also last cycle was my first time getting 36 star in the abyss with Arlecchino, C1 Aino, C0 Bennett and Ineffa doing her thing as the team.
Varesa = Scales very well but reqiures specific 4 stars to maximise her team dps output. Incredibly strong off rip i lost my 50/50 on my alt, sadge. OP explorer btw.
Nuevilette = Older unit, still strong objectively as a hydro driver but reqiures the most investment to keep pace also Furina just had her rerun.
But yeah Sucrose, Aino, Ineffa even if the 4 stars are C0 (Aino might be on the next banner but that doesnt matter) will be your best team by a literal universe right now.
Ineffa is a f2p dream character.
Varesa on the other hand deals the same good damage but she requires a little more practice to know her best combo, but she's amazing for exploration.
Based on that, looking at both their gameplays, decide.
But if you were to only pick one, I'd go for Varesa because her best 4-star teammates are in the banner with her. Although it also depends on whether or not you are able to pull them. Varesa also has amazing exploration utility.
He isn't even that good anymore lol. Varessa is stronger if you are just asking about how much damage their teams do lately.
My advice would be Columbina followed by Ineffa or Zi Bai, for a super strong 2 unit team.
