Isn't fruit paste bait crafted from sunsettias and wheat, no fish required?

Did you do the "Exploding Population" quest? You get the formula during that.

It literally does. Note in this conversation with Nantuck when fishing is unlocked a bunch of stuff shows up, including the fruit paste bait formula.

But I don't have enough fish for pay the formula, and I have lost all my bait cause I have cooked all fish (yes I know...)

notthatjaded2026-01-10 23:46

You don't pay for the formula! You already get it for free when you unlock fishing! And it doesn't require fish to make the bait! Are you not trying to do this at the crafting bench or something?

Use the basic bait to fish up medaka (basic orange ones) They're used to pay for most recipes early on. You'll have to bounce between fishing spots to get them.

But I don't have "basic bait"

kazumaishido2026-01-10 23:45

You don't buy the basic bait, you craft it at the crafting bench. There is also a "bait" filter on the crafting bench to find it easier
