I recently came back to this game after 3 years, what did I miss?
I started playing Genshin a couple of months since launch and quit somewhere around late 2022. I would sometimes log into the game to collect free stuff but never progressed. I was wondering what did I miss during those 3 years.

Not sure what you expect people to write it would literally take writing a book to explain everything
Some new endgame modes have joined Spiral Abyss. They incentivize having 1) lots of decently-built characters, and 2) being able to assemble 3 unique, very strong teams to fight 3 bosses.
It seems that soon we'll be able to revisit old events. The event library will start being populated with new events soon. Perhaps they'll eventually add old events? But that's purely my own speculation.
Oh yeah there's Miliastra Wonderland. It's basically Roblox. No Primogems to be gained there.
Story wise, we should be around 66%, assuming each region equals to 10%. They released a lot of QoL (still no artifact loadouts) over the years which makes the game less tiring. Starting from ~1.5 years ago new characters are released with updated models: they have better body proportions. Around that time we also got significant powercreep (there were signs of it 2.5 years ago). There is also separate mode which is basically Roblox/Fortnite custom games and you can dress your custom character however you want although there is separate gacha behind it. In current patch we also got buffs for around half Mondstadt characters (first region) which is something a lot of the playerbase was waiting for given that other Hoyo games started this trend.
You actually did miss (i.e. you cannot replay again) the Simulanka summer event (and the other 2 summer events as well). The Simulanka events tell the story about a playable character, Durin and why he have the same name as that Durin who wrecked Mondstat before.
