Genshin burnout??😞😞
Okay so I started playing genshin October 2020 but made my main on the new year of 2021. Ive stopped playing for countless of reasons, mainly due to not having a proper device to play on. Around late 2024 I finally gotten an IPad and started playing the same normally since. But I would say from around August till now I feel as if I’m going through EXTREME fomo and burnout. Everyone who has played or join genshin around my time has basically completed everything; wither it’s 100% exploration, having majority or at least more than half of the 5\*, well built characters and had completed all of the quests including world quests.
I’ve basically done none of these. Sure I have pretty decent and meta characters but they’re far from being well built. I completed and 100% all of Mondstadt-Sumeru but can’t help but feel extremely bored completing Fontaine. Im still on Act V in Natlan while everyone is on Nod Krai. Im still level 58 and cant even remember the last time I 36\* abyss. Honestly ive been feeling burnt out about all these quests and feel so left out compared to everyone that is at Nod Krai whole im still stuck at Natlan and cant help but feel burnt out trying to complete the main Natlan quests and some of Fontaines world quest I still haven’t completed yet
Is my only option is to quit this game😭😭Im so attached to it and have been playing since I was 12(yes crazy shocker) now im 17 and I just feel bad about quitting since I do love so many of these characters but it exhausts me to even complete one single quest.

I’ve been playing HSR since the first day and stopped playing the main story quest since 3.4. I’m gonna be extra behind for planarcardia but it doesnt upset me. The HSR story just hasnt really been all that entertaining to me in the way it’s being told, that’s why i stopped reading it for awhile now.
Play hoyo games at your own pace, is all i’ll say
You need an anchor to the game. Either it be to build characters, collect new characters, complete endgame content, etc. You seem to have none of them.
Do I think you need a break from the game. Yes, I do. You need to distance yourself from what is causing you comparing yourself to others making you feel down.
As for the story, it won't go anywhere, just play at your own pace. And if the fomo is too much, stay away from Genshin-related SNS for a while (reddit, twitter etc). This is crucial because NodKrai story's finale (?) will be released next week and staying here, reading all the discussion while you are still at Natlan will trigger your fomo hard.
As a certain someone said: "Every journey has its final day. Don't rush."
Good luck.
You see, this is your issue, right here.
Why do you compare yourself to others?
Did they stay up all night killing their health to grind while you made the smart decision to prioritize yourself first? Who knows. But the moment you think you are falling behind, you are playing genshin wrong.
It's a game, you are suppose to have fun with it, don't think about catching up, think about this is your advanture, do it your way.
I played genshin since release, and I only started doing abyss and other end game contents like last month or something, heck I'm still having fun without any end game content.
Genshin events are really good at not pushing players too much too, just look at their reward list, the primogem rewards usually stops pretty early on. That's the intended average stopping point.
Just play the game with your own pace.
You can jump to Nod Krai story now and continue other region quest later.
Genshin will be ongoing for like 20 years (as dev said). Surely there will be time for you to catch up slowly with other people, if you really can't control your FOMO.
Comparing yourself to others is a quick path to FOMO and unhappiness; reading reddit you'd think everyone playing the game is 36\* clearing abyss. Most players aren't. (Hell, I'm a year-one player who used to get a lot of 36\* abyss and these days I'm not even clearing F12 at all - can't be bothered.)
Dunno if your IRL social circle is constantly talking Genshin, but otherwise I'd advise just tuning out the noise and enjoying the game at your own pace - not a race.
Here’s my fav reenactment on how to catch up with Genshin 😉
I stopped playing religiously around the time Enkanomiya came out. Only thing I hate is new events taking place in new regions I dont wanna explore yet, but it's fine, go at your own pace.
This will help you catch up to nodkrai's story which is one of the best so far and you'll get more motivation to build characters once you experience their story.
As for comparing your account progress, all I can say is that genshin is primarily a single player game with no pvp for a reason. It's a marathon not a sprint and everyone has different lives and priorities. I think you should play the game in a way that you enjoy and maybe detach a bit from online communities where people show off their account progress since that's the main factor that is affecting your mental health.
I've never 100% any region.
I have maybe done 20 total non event sidequests.
My character builds are basically garbo because I am not going to farm the same instance for 6 months straight and go through every single artifact drop that whole time.
My highest Abyss completion is floor 8.
If the game isn't clicking for you then take a break. If you want to come back at some point then come back. If you forget the game exists then problem solved. Genshin is just an entertainment product, not a way of life or a career.
I am also attached to this game. It is okay to take a break and slow things down. Down the line you'll be able to catch up. Never speedrun things. That'll add to burnout. Like real bad. Been there, done that.
I am in Nod-Krai but I honestly have a lot of quest that I haven't done in the previous regions and that's ok. I'll come back to it once I have the mental capacity to do so.
